Oh that 70s sound...nice
Thanks Paul!
Nice!!! 👍👍
Thanks Jay!
A lot of the truss rod supersition is from the 4001 where adjusting its odd truss sytem could result in snapping the neck in half. And its neck-through, so its not like you could just bolt on a new neck.
Can you imagine actually snapping the truss rod/neck on any guitar? Talk about a nightmare! Thanks for watching.
Nice man. I never really like the tv show, but they had a good theme song.
Thanks Eric! How's that Kramer neck coming along?

Many times. Many many. In communist Jugoslavija no fretless basses. Well, we made it😊 Jack Pastorius was my idol in 80s.
Yes, Jaco was a genius! Thanks for watching.
The #1 best way to adjust the intonation on a Rickenbacker is to take it to a music store and trade it in for a Fender Jazz Bass.
Great comment! I also love my Fender Jazz basses. Thanks.
Most nightmarish bass I ever owned was a 74 Ric 4001. I got fed up with constantly fighting it. In 85 I traded it for a brand new Ibanez Roadstar Bass and felt like I got the better deal. The Roadstar had a stable neck and workable bridge. I actually learned how to play on that Ibanez. The only thing the Ric taught me was disappointment.
Those Ibanez Roadstar basses are nice basses, do you still have yours? I sold my Ibanez to a friend a few years ago and of course regret it.
Loving it Nick!
Thanks Mike! Hope all is well.

Love the pickguard. You can’t have too many P basses and this one is awesome. I’ve only seen the white ones with the West Ham Utd logo on, that is what kind of turned me off about it.
@@AllAboutBasses thank you, appreciate it. I agree, I don’t particularly like the white Harris bass either.

@@pchykins6680 you could be right about that! I thanks for watching.
I don’t hate Rics. I’ve owned two - a 4004 and 4003s/5. They’re not well made compared to similarly priced instruments. They did sound great but were very variable from gig to gig and in my experience the necks were unstable. In particular the 4003s/5 has a very weak B string and the body sculpting was poor- the “edge” made it very uncomfortable to gig with. They do look great but that’s not enough for a £2,500 instrument 🫤
@@eckie4679 , I’ve never come across a 5 string Ric, thanks for the information. Yeah the prices are insane especially here in Japan they can go for $4,000! Thanks for watching.

@@elbib2446 thanks for the info I appreciate it.
Thanks for the video! There is very little information on these basses on CZcams. And I just can't figure out the reason for the hatred towards these basses. Just recently I bought myself an LPB-2 (1996) and damn it, it's an awesome bass! I wouldn't say it's heavy at all. Compared to my Bubinga Warwick Corvette, this bass weighs ok. But the most important thing is its sound! It fits perfectly in the mix, the sound is very punchy, moderately bright (exactly as bright as needed). At the same time, the lows are very clear, not muddy.
Thanks so much I appreciate the kind words and positive comments. Those Gibson LPB-2 basses are beautiful instruments, you're lucky to have that 1996. I didn't realize the Warwick Corvette bass, also a very nice bass, was so heavy.
@@bass-hiroshimanick2534 Well, only bubinga corvettes are heavy. Bubinga is a very dense and hard tree, which is why it weighs so much. Ash corvettes have normal weight.
@@resistenceisfutile , thanks, appreciate the info, I actually didn’t know that and I honestly wouldn’t know one type of wood from another.
