Anodized Aluminum Dock Comparison Video
TURN SOUND ON
This video compares different designs of 4 inch "F" style anodized aluminum dock sections. Alumi-Span has one of the strongest and quietest sections in the industry. There are 4 sections in the video. The 2 on the left are two different production years (2019/2020) of Alumi-Span sections. The two on the right are two different versions of welded sections. To the very far right in the video we have a single beam welded section. The second section from the right is a slightly stronger welded section with 2 beams. It's still noisy.

aluminum dock rebuild
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 11 lety
You can rebuild most "F" stringer style aluminum docks with (cool) anodized aluminum dock boards. Alumi-Span aluminum dock boards fit into the same stringers as 5/4 pine, cedar, and even many classic redwood Alumi-Span docks. This will also work with other stringers that are similar to Alumi-Span's design.

    All good until the augered post get clogged with rocks, sand, muck and other debris from the lake bottom making it impossible to fully seat the support post.

      Hello Austin, this version of this is designed strictly for sand. If used in the correct water depth these are very effective. We have docks that have been using these for over 20 years with no issues. Most of what clouds up the water is generally silt. Silt won't clog the perma augers. The only time I have seen these get stuff in them is if someone installs them way to close to the lake bottom, or uses them near a jet boat. The reverse on a jet boat can blow sand around and that has caused a couple issues over the years. If you are in a soft bottom/muck situation the product would need to be modified. This version of the "perma auger" can be made longer and there is also a flat plate that can be mounted on them. This is much more useful in muck. If you have something other than a sand bottom, we suggest giving us a call before ordering. Since we are a manufacturer, we can adjust the product accordingly. Thank you for your interest!

    Is this less expensive than Trex? I am redecking my 10 x 12 (actually about 11-1/2ft) shoreline dock which currently has 16 1 x 6 wood boards on it. I have 8 wood stringers across the 12 feet. Thanks

      Hello, I don't have any current pricing on the cost of Trex compared to this. The aluminum is a bit of a different animal as far as rebuilding with it. Our aluminum decking can span 3-4ft without underside support because of the way it is designed. That being said it does need to be inserted into side stringers to function correctly. If you use our contact page at www.alumispan.com we can discuss your specific project and get you pricing.

      @AlumispanDocks Před 6 lety

      jbkb215 How much weight this will hold depends on the bottom conditions a lot. In firm sand with augers like this we have put as much as 1800 lbs on platform sections with 4 poles. We have center "t"s, trusses, and galvanized steel tubing that can be used if needed.

    Can the augersbe left in place in lNorthern lakes that freeze...eg northern Ontario?

    • @AlumispanDocks
      @AlumispanDocks Před 6 lety

      These can be left in as long as the ice flows do not contact them once the ice starts moving. In southern Michigan 1.5-2 ft deep is safe. In northern Michigan you may need 3 ft deep. Ontario is a very large area. It would depend a lot on the actual location. You are welcome to contact us with specific information. At a minimum we can give you our opion on your situation.
