This is Alex Trebek's first game show in the United States after starting his career in Canada. The theme song was composed and sung by Alan Thicke of Growing Pains fame, who was also one of the show's producers. This is the only known copy of any episode available online and is a full recording of the show's airing, including commercials. Enjoy!

Born George Alexander Trebek. His Stage Name is Alex Trebek.
You were very excited about the bar are you a LUSH? 😂 Lol
I remember this show. It ran before Hollywood Squares, 11 a.m. EDT, 10 a.m. CDT. This looks like the studio where they taped "The Flip Wilson Show."
What are the rules
How did you find this show. So cool thank you. Love finding lost shows.
Four days before my ninth birthday! ("Wizard" aired for less than a year on NBC, from 16 July 73 to 28 June 74, weekdays at 11am Eastern time.)
Stay tuned for The Hollywood Squares next on NBC
Alex looks like he has been to an audition for the lead in Welcome Back Kotter.
Look at all these white people
It's 1970's Alex with the 1970's hair!
Stay tuned for The Hollywood Squares next on NBC
I was 1 month old when this aired. Much better times than now 😢
he was indeed a spoiler.
I was just a sperm in my daddy's sack for 15 more years
I have to admit this WAS a nice game show!! It,s sort of a combination of The Hollywood Squares Let,s Make A Deal The Price Is Right ala Family Feud(survey/points in bonus round)
I Like this one with the commercials this was back when Game shows was serious & the commercials were not like the stuff you see today, Please post more if available.
My dad was on this game show. He won a trip to Mexico City & Alcapulco, a living room set and furniture for my bedroom when I was a girl.
I feel that you HIT THE GAME SHOW JACKPOT/LOTTERY in finding this lost episode.
BTW, Burt Sugarman produced this show which would later produced a short lived game show “Whew”.
As well as Celbrity Sweepstakes and the Midnight Special
I bet she looked sharp driving to the market in that pudding brown Nova.
Great upload, but never thought of wishing Alex would please shut up 😮
The budget for this show I guess was ok,as long as you won,but the consolation prizes would let me say " big deal" a jar of Sue Bee Honey or $ 20. 00 for a wrong answer from Ron. Good to see the old commercials in those days. Many of them that are still around, don't advertise anymore.
I sure would like Buzzr or GSN show these memorable game shows instead of repeating the same game shows that we already saw, watching them time and time again.
Blame the late-60s early-70s practice of "wiping". You know when you used to have a VCR and you taped over something you wanted to keep on a tape of yours? Television networks made a practice of it -- called "wiping" -- and that's why most of these shows have been completely lost to time.
Look! It's Gabe Kaplan! Oh, wait...
My urge to adjust the tracking is overwhelming lol
Same here. But, while the video quality is poor, I'm glad this was uploaded since NBC wiped all the videos from this short-lived series. A great memory from the past!
So, one of the few surviving episodes of this show has finally surfaced. I can see why this show bombed. It's very confusing. And since this was before networks realized that there would be demand for game show reruns, I can't blame NBC for wiping most of the eps. So, "Dr. Jason Seaver" created this. Obviously, acting and music composing is a much stronger strength than creating a game show for him. Speaking of music, I really wish "Dr. Seaver" didn't sing the show's song and kept it an instrumental. Hey Alex, if you are going to freak out over the morons in the audience, do it off camera like I do! I would have chewed him out if I was a contestant on this show! This is why I prefer plants in the audience. Sadly, I'd rather have this show back than Sex Wars.
Who did you expect, Vince Russo? 😂😂😂😂
50 yrs. ago today, July 16, 1973 (Mon.) game show "Wizard, Odds" had its initial airing on NBC-TV Network. It was late Canadian-born quizmaster G.A. ("Alex") Trebek's lst U.S. game show that he hosted
I remember the name of this show but didn't remember anything about it. High Rollers was better.
It certainly was, and Alex wasn't freaking out over assholes in the audience that much either compared to this turkey!
It's a real shame that the tapes of this great show are just about gone! Shame on NBC 😐
Did you really think those networks would have the incredible foresight to know that game show reruns would be in demand?! This isn't a scripted show like Jonny Quest, you know.
Wasn't Dick Haymes Peter Marshall's brother in law at one time? This episode was taped in 1973 for 1974 broadcast.
Alex trebek is the best game show host history
Chuck Woolery is pretty good too.
The color of those carpets definitely put this show in the 70's! 😬😬 So does Alex's permed curly hairdo! 😱😱 🦂🥂
RIP Alex, Charlie, & Florence.
haha this was great... a friend who is deep deep into gameshows relayed to me how rare this is nd we watched it and i love your backstory... your dad was so right to get that recorded... keeps her memory alive and is part of tv history
Alex never was the touchy-feely womanizer. He loved his wife dearly
And what are her credentials exactly?
Alex Trebek was recommended to NBC for the hosting job of "Wizard of Odds" by fellow Canadian Alan Thicke ("Growing Pains"). Mr. Trebek hosted several game shows when he worked in Canada at the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company)-including a high school quiz show called "Reach for the Top". Although the "Wizard of Odds" didn't last long NBC liked what they saw in Mr. Trebek and hired him to host another game show called "High Rollers" and ultimately in 1984 when Merv Griffith was relaunching "Jeopardy" he remembered seeing Mr. Trebek and asked him to audition to be the host and hired him.
I went to the Trebek estate sale last year and bought some cookware from the Trebek kitchen. I also had a friend take a pic of me sitting behind Alex's desk in his home office. I'm sure Alex wouldn't have minded, as I was one of his contestants on "Classic Concentration" in 1987. He slipped and referred to me as the new "Jeopardy!" champion. Oops. I guess that can happen when you host more than one game show at a time. The episodes are on my CZcams channel. RIP, Alex.
This is even more interesting than the seeing the lost episode of Sesame Street with Margaret Hamilton! We were sure any home tapes of this program were thrown away by the time VHS took over Beta. You hit the lost media lottery.
in spite of Pat Sajak still hosting. Alex Trebek (since the golden era) will be long remembered as.... "The LAST of the game show Golden Boys"
Pat Sajak announced he will retire from WOF at year's end.
@@luisreyes1963And now, minus some celebrity specials, he officially has.
This show is just like I remember when I was...."YEH, HIGH?" finding this game show, all I can say is...... IT"S ABOUT TIME!!!!!!!
Well if it isn't Ronald McDonald as the emcee!!! 😃😃😃LOL!!!
About time someone found an episode of this.
R.I.P. Alex Trebek, Alan Thicke and Charlie O'Donnell
#zerotonine at 7:39! (Every digit appears at least once in the right-hand column!) Thanks!
R.I.P. Alex Trebek ❤
Dana did excellent. 😀👍
One day all the episodes of wizard of odds will be found. 😀👍
I would suggest you learn the fine art of astral projecting if you want to see the rest.
Wow amazing treasure found! What a great backstory. I'm sorry to hear about your mom passing she really did win everything possible on this episode. Do you remember her being on the show or were you to young?
Vaguely, my brother more so. I was 3, lol
So this was Charlie's first game show he announced, not WOF.
No. Charlie O. announced for 2 short-lived ABC game shows in the late '60s-Everybody's Talking, where he replaced Wink Martindale, and Wedding Party-Charlie's only NYC-based game show circa 1968.
Besides writing and performing the theme song, Alan Thicke created the show , and also served as a producer alongside Burt Sugarman. 26:33 Florence Henderson for Klean n Shine.
I don't know how in the world you found this, but please let me know if you plan to post any more game shows, and I'll subscribe immediately. Thank you either way!
RIP Alex Trebek you are truly missed alot by everyone
Definitely well missed in everything he did. Ken Jennings can't hold a candle to him as an emcee and comes off as conniving and untrustworthy.
He’s dead and won’t be reading this.
I met Peter Marshall back in 2002 when he had a book singing and in his book he mentioned that Alex was the 1st MC he knew who didn't use cue cards. But he had been doing Canadian TV for over 10 years before doing Wizard Of Odds. Thank you for sharing this!
Dana Diaz was a super contestant on The Wizard of Odds, great 1973 game show treasured classic!!
