    • @emnemnem1889
      @emnemnem1889 Před měsícem

      And I'm 21 and I relate to this movie on a emotional level. First tried my first drink (passion fruit liquor) at 18, during summer holidays in August after finishing high school and got hooked. I love booze so I stick to tea. Sometimes, I guess, no matter how much willpower you have and how disciplined you are, you can't make yourself hate what you love. It warms me, it makes me happy, I just love booze as much as I love tea. I don't drink for the taste (although I need it to be tasty or at least tolerable) but purposefully to get buzzed or tipsy. For its effects. Even now I still convince myself that I'm just a college student, everybody drinks, I'm normal, etc. But then I find myself SOMETIMES not everyday ofc, putting rum in my orange juice on a morning Saturday before 1pm, at 11 or even 10. I still convince myself that everything is fine, it's okay to want to get tipsy, after all you deserve some gratification for your good grades. I would go months without a drop but eventually I'll miss it. I would use my cash instead of my credit card so my parents don't find out that I bought a can of mojito desperados and drank it in the city center not to do it at college cuz I wanted to. I'd use concealer to hide my flush, I'd bite my lips before seeing my mom (wind makes your lips blue) I'd drink baileys before bed disguised as cocoa, I'd drink wine straight from my parents' box when my mom was in the garden. I did things I'd have NO courage to tell 'em even today. Today the weather was very gray and I wanted a drink. I didn't and drank tea instead. Now, imma spend more months without booze. Breaks are necessary because otherwise I know it won't end well. Some people say : if you wonder whether or not you have a problem. You probably do. I guess... I have one. But to me an alcoholic is someone who has shaky hands in the morning, someone who goes perhaps to meetings, someone who can't stop once they started. So it does not concern me. Many college students drink, many countries do it on a cultural level. Animals like to get drunk on magnolia flowers or berries. How the heck am I supposed to abstain from something that I love and that is UNIVERSALLY rooted, legal and normalized??? I believe that booze is one of the many best inventions made by humans. I'm glad it exists. I love my liquor, I do, but I'll never admit it to my family. They believe I drink for the taste. Sometimes I wish I could find some drinking buddies BUT who are also intellectual people with whom I can have deep talks. Who'd love booze like I do, and we'd call ourselves "alcoholics" as a joke, drink together without judging one another for it. I just wanna experience this. This young, wild, fresh feeling of being a teenager in her 20s. Who drinks cuz she loves to, without being judged or owing anyone any explanation. After all, I'll never get wasted, I know my limit. I just wanna be half drunk. Enough to be the one to always hold other ppl's hair, to be able to drive. Instead, I have none to go out with. So I drink secretly alone, sometimes in the garage, hidden without my parents knowing, dancing on some Abba with a bottle of wine. Then, I also heard people say : drinking alone or with people changes nothing. Social alcoholics are no different from alone drinkers. When you drink to get drunk, just to drink, even with friends, you're isolating yourself. Booze can be a people gatherer like food and music, but it can also isolate. I guess, having a flirty relationship with booze makes you think. Doubt. Question yourself. Make yourself uncertain. It makes you think a lot. For now, we're just friends with benefits, who sometimes don't see each other for months. I'll make sure no to turn it into a love relationship. It's only my responsibility to stay careful and be wise. Take care of yourself. Lots of love ☺️😘🫶

      @@UKImmigrationLawGeek well idk about sober... I still drink on events. Problem is, if I drink on an occasion, I want to keep the fun going the next day... I had to celebrate graduation from university very recently. I got drunk and happy. No hangover the next morning but little tummy ache. Didn't stop me from drinking the next day. Didn't drink for 2 weeks and today drank again cuz went to a restaurant. Sadly I had only one glass of Martini... Wanted to drink more but no booze left at home. I told, after finishing my martini, the waiter that I wanted a litchi liquor. He didn't understand and gave me litchi as a dessert... I pretended not to seem disappointed in front of my family but deep down... MAN I DIDN'T ASK FOR THAT LET ME GET DRUNK!!! ah, coming home mind was full with these thoughts... But nothing in the house. It's crazy how even being completely busy, singing, drawing, reading, there are still glimpses of these obsessive thoughts about booze... I'm currently drinking water right now... Ofc not happy about it, but hey, it's healthier... Sending you love, thx a lot ❤️

    The former director of the division of legal medicine of the State Department of Mental Health, now teaching at the Tufts Medical School, in a letter in evidence, commented, "Even though I was an experienced psychiatrist and had worked on violent mental hospital wards and maximum security prisons, Bridgewater was the first institution where I ever felt personally in danger. My reaction would border on despair each time I went. When I would leave I would quickly put the place out of my mind.The film in a painful way revived the old feelings of depression and anger at myself for continuing to ignore the problem. In a small way my reactions are a clue to why such institutions exist. There are some things we prefer not to know about not too unlike the Germans who lived near Dachau." Commonwealth v. Wiseman. 356 Mass. 251 (1969). 249 N.E.2d 610 Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, Suffolk.

I can’t believe the little guy at the AA meetings is a alcoholic his big brother should of never gave him alcohol to drink it’s their fault too he become a alcoholic because he was just a little kid!
