How to Install Your DoveDOT Mounting Plate Kit

In this video, we'll show you how to install your new DoveDOT red dot mounting plate adaptor kit onto a Glock 48. Though a couple of the tools may differ slightly, the steps shown in this video remain applicable to most other models as well.
I don't have a vice
The dovedot i have on my glock 43x is amazing. holds zero for years and very low profile. didn't even add lock tite on the tail either, i missed doing that first time around but will in the future if i need to on a future gun but will most likly just buy mos for now on as i got my glock for really cheap before the mos was out for only 200 with a finger print case from my dad.
Just installed one and this is the best one I have found. Especially the fact it came with a front fiber optic sight for co witness
Did you forget the screw that goes in the middle of the dovetail mount after measuring it with the caliper and before mounting the optics?
I love this idea of this mount, biggest problem is only one footprint! No Doctor or RMR??? Make a rmr plate and I will be in for 3, with the night sights!!
Hello!Any options for Europe,?More specifically Bulgaria.
Thanks enjoyed the video
Hi, do you plan to have plates to fit on H&K P30 and AREX Zero 2S ?
HK P30 is coming in about a month!
@@dovemounts8840 Thank you. And the Arex?
@@babagermany6654 Nothing for the Arex.
Just got me one for the 19x so far so good had a little trouble getting it in but it was probably something I was doing wrong. It look real nice once everything is set 🔥🔥
Anyone knows if the stoeger str-9 would be compatible with it?
Unfortunately not. Stoeger will need its own model.
Installing mine today for G42!
When are you gonna restock for s&w mp9?
Should be next weekend!
@@dovemounts8840 plz i need one
Been debating on whether to go the dove dot route or purchasing a mos slide for my 17gen5.. i was worried about the installation and durability between the 2 but this tutorial just sold me on the dove dot. Purchasing it soon as i finish this comment. Thank you
Face to the name! Good to meet you. 👍🏼
I forgot you had never seen me!
@@dovemounts8840 someday, I’ll make it to SHOT Show and shake your guys’s hands. 🤝
@@dovemounts8840hey Tate I’m wanting to purchase the Shield Sights SMS - 4MOA Poly for my shield plus but it says you’re out of stock. Do you know when they’ll be available? I signed up to be notified but I’m just wondering if you have an eta? Thank you.
Excellent guys
Man that is beautiful and also amazing 4k on that camera
Quite sexy. And does she deliver. 😮
It looks like you’ve got a great product but a lousy website. I couldn’t find which product of yours will fit my smith and Wesson performance center shield plus 9 mm. Do you have a fit plate for this gun? Also should my gunsmith, I’m too old to install it, use loctite on the installation?
Yes we do. Select SW Shield from the drag down bar on the product page of our DoveDOT plate system.
Why would you have a Glock when clearly the Shadow 2 is the best weapon of war that Eugene Browning ever created.
GLOCK haterrrr
What Dove mounts and sight combinations work together on a micro pistol?
Would this fit a cyelee x pro red dot ?
Does anyone know what the plate is being screwed into? That is one question I’ve had that I am curious about .
Plate is force fit into the dove tail. The set screw pushes into steel at the bottom of the dove tail to lock it in place. There is no hole there.
YALL LAGGING DOVE!!!! GET THE PRODUCTS BACK IN STOCK!!! DAYYYYUUMMMM!!!!! SMH!!!
Hurts to be this popular.
That was a pretty stupid response. You know what hurts? Your business when you cannot supply your product.
@@dovemounts8840so you aren’t getting a restock?
I just got mine today! They made a new batch on Christmas
@@2A_RAY Weird......I just looked at their website.....Still......NOT IN STOCK. LMAO
Ordered Nov 23 and stilllll waiting for mine to ship 😢
Nothing for sig p229?
1:49 I really COULDN'T believe this hokey install of the plastic tube that I saw in another YT clip, I was seriously considering buying this TILL I saw this plastic tube install, WHY can't the company PRE install it??
Because it's extremely easy to do and It gives the customer free choice of color, versus buying one pre installed and then realizing they would have preferred the other color.
Just wondering if you guys are still in business, all of your products are out of stock
Nope, still kicking. We're just very popular!
Yea!! mine is on the way :)
Is it compatible with all/different red dots?
Anything that is RMS/RMSc footprint.
Is there a way to zero the sights vertically? Because I’m hitting way higher than my point of aim. Not sure what I can do about it.
There's no way to adjust vertical mechanically, however, you can try using a different method of sighting the irons, such as "burying the front sight" or placing the target "on top of the front sight" rather than covering it with the front sight.
@@dovemounts8840 But when i tried to zero it at 15 yards i need to put the front sight completely under the rear sight and i cannot even see the front sight anymore. Also if i put my red dot on there I could see even less of the front sight, which makes the iron sight co-witness essentially just useless...
@@djake1743 are you trying to use the sights as a lower 1/3 cowitness? When the red dot is properly zeroed the dot should be above the front iron, not in line with it. Also, our iron sights are recommend for 10 yard backups.
@@dovemounts8840 Okay I will try zeroing it at 10 yard and see if it works better. Thanks.
I have a gen1 M&P Shield. I was able to remove the front and rear sights, but the DoveDot ones are extremely tight when trying them in the dovetail. Should I be using a steel punch as seen in the video to push them to place? Also the front sight is not symmetric front to back; which way is correct? Thanks.
You want to use a hammer and punch to set them into place. The angled side with the serrations should be facing the shooter when the irons are installed correctly.
Thanks for the quick reply!
@@dovemounts8840 Hi again. I installed the front sight with no problem. The rear sight is a different story. I got it on about 80% of the way, but it won't go any further and I'm afraid to keep beating on it. Do you have any suggestions?
What Holosun optics are compatible with this mount?
Anything K series, so 407k, 507k, eps, and eps carry.
I put this mounting system on my Smith& Wesson M&P 9mm with a Hollosun 407K and used a Wheeler torque wrench to mount it to spec. Used a bore sight to zero at 10 yards at home, took it to the range and it was spot on.
When ordering this product off your website are your optics included??
Optics are not included. We also don't produce optics, just the plates. All the optics we carry are from other manufacturers.
What would be a good website for starter optics
@@user-zl1xl3pj5b the Swampfox Sentinel is one of the best optics you can get for the money. Its available directly through us.
Can i have one for a glock pls
I can't get the plate into the dove all the way. It's super tight. I was hitting on it pretty good. Not sure what the deal is. From right to left. Overall great product and alternative to permanently altering a slide.
It's designed to be very tight. You may have to brace the slide in a vice or some other type of holding system to get enough force to seat the Adapter. Also be sure that the set screw is not making contact with the dovetail floor, otherwise it will keep you from being able to seat the system.
@@dovemounts8840 yea I removed the set screw from the start. I have a vise but not sturdy enough. Had to take it to gunsmith. But I'm glad mine was extra tight at least. I was hitting pretty hard. He bore sighted the irons and I'm going to range this weekend to zero my red dot. It really looks awesome. Sits pretty flush with slide. I can barely see the gap. Wish CZcams allowed pics I'd post it.
@@farmageddon2978 shoot us a few on instagram @dovemounts !
Went to install the fiber optic front, cut with scissors as instructed and it broke off short 😡 what am I supposed to do now?
Send us an email and we'll get you some more fiber sent out because sometimes accidents happen?
i like how it sits all the way back and rear sights in front of the optic
is it ok to use 271 red thread lock. Im planning on keeping this on there for the foreseeable future
I would really recommend using blue rather than red. The set screw is extremely small, so red may hold it too tightly and cause it to strip if you ever do have to take it off for any reason. We've done extensive testing with just the friction fit and blue Loctite and the mount has held up perfectly.
@@dovemounts8840 thanks again. Will go with blue
will this fit into a glock43x cya iwb holster. concerned about the front sight being to tall maybe
Any holster that is rated for "supressor height" sights should have enough clearance. Front sight is .365" tall if you have a way to measure the holster.
@@dovemounts8840 i went ahead and got the ridge cya holster so it will fit thanks for help
Will the mount designed for the P-365 fit a P-229 slide?
It will not unfortunately. The slides are different and cause some clearance issues.
Will the one for the M&P Shield fit the full sized models?
yes!
I'm sold. Definitely going to try this out on my G17 gen 3. Simply because I don't want my original slide milled. And not a fan of the look of any aftermarket slides I've come across.
Did you end up buying it? I have a G19 gen 3 I want to put a red dot on but don't want to get it cut. This looks slick almost looks unnoticeable unless you look at the gun closely maybe
Tactical Considerations’s vid sold me. I am awaiting mine for my Shield Gen 1! Will also be uploading a vid on my take. 😉
Awesome video!! Can i continue to use my standard M&P Shield holster even after installing that front sight?? Thanks!
As long as your holster is rated for "suppressor height" sights it should be fine!
Just got mine in the mail can't wait to take it to the range
Send it!

Would I be able to use different types of suppressor height front sights?
You certainly can! Just match the height of our included front sight that comes in the package of the model you order and you're good to go! You can also mix and match heights to find the sweet spot that you want your irons to be zeroed by changing the height of the front sight you use.
Will work on Glock 20?
Yes the Glock model DoveDOT™ will work on all Glock models except the G44 since it uses a polymer slide.
Can I run this on a Taurus G3X that has glock sights or do I need something different? I really want this.
As of right now we don't have one for Taurus pistols. They use Glock sights but have a much different chamfer on their slides, which causes the Glock DoveDOT™ to hang over the rear of the slide. We could have something for Taurus soon though!
@@dovemounts8840 hell yea brother! I hope so, I can't wait!
