Throwing this back together after a catastrophic failure in #8 hole, block cleaned up with a hone. Just gonna send it. Key points: Gen 2 rod dot faces rear Gen 2 piston arrow faces forward Bank left and right doesn’t matter

Would lt4 rods and piston work for lt1/l86 without lt4 crank, could the lt4 rotating assembly work in a lt1/l86?

i bought some solder sticks use the red one from the pack and solder sticked a 12ga wire to the two broken wires on my post so its now a wire not a small stud to connect ignition wire to
the small post is whats wrong , people over tighten them then you go to take the nut off and it snaps inside nobody ever goes over that small post ! in the past 30-35 years ive had at least 20 or more that are over tight you go to loosen them they snap and spin freely and do zero after ! no power no click no nothing once it snaps its junk and no rebuild kit made fixes em it has to be completely replaced

I had a similiar problem on cylinder 8 with a piston issue so I'm trying to locate one piston for the set. My question is 1) since gen one and gen 2 weight different can I still use only one gen 2 piston or should I just use a gen 2 set (if I can get it) and 2) will gen 2 pistons work in a gen one block as long as orientation is correct? Haven't been able to find out any info on forums...so thanks!
Yes bore is the same, this Gen 1 block with g2 pistons and rods on the g1 crank combo now has 1000+ miles on it in a blower car. Get a set of g2 pistons and rods they are stronger
Just replace them all with Gen 2 pistons so the other 7 don't continue being a failure point. Or at least just replace the rods themselves. Sell the old rods to recoup some of the money.

What's going on when brakes work fine but pedal does not fully return. Brakes drag and brake lights stay on until I lift the pedal with my toe. If I lift it too hard, it pops the light switch out of its bracket.

That’s the wrong thermostat
Rod orientation matters when there is a chamfer on the crank shaft. Have the larger beveled part of the rod face that counterweight chamfer of the crank shaft and the reverse for the other rod on each side. Otherwise the rod will bind. If there is no chamfer on the crank shaft and the rods are not offset it doesn’t matter. I still set mine up that way because it is good practice. Tang orientation doesn’t matter.
I always try to match the oem tang orientation

The old one in mine did not have the other gasket rings. Just the big one and it was stuck to the housing.

Great video, I did this to mod also. I actually took mine to a muffler shop because I wanted mine welded. Car definitely sounds more throaty, is there a power gain? I think there is some up top but not much. This was more me trying to get rid of something that was bugging me.
I looked at that and wondered why the pipes were crushed like that near the muffler. That and the useless secondary cats. Seems like GM was trying to keep the sound under a certain decibel or something in the Camaro. These things serve absolutely no purpose other than to restrict sound. The car does sound very loud in bone stock form, but we like it just a tad louder!
buy a Cummins do not buy one from the auto parts store they do not come with the rubber or the seal and if you look at the actual Cummins genuine part thermostat it is heavier Duty and the ones you get it O'Reilly's AutoZone Etc stay with the Cummins parts for that Cummins engine

I just did mine last weekend, it increased the sound, and flow. Touring now sounds like Sport, and Sport has more volume. The car does seem a bit quicker, also the install wasn’t too bad.

@@solidsnake6123 cool.......... I drive in touring mostly and sometimes adjust engine sound manually to sport but if I can get touring close to it I'll leave it set on auto adjustments.

I had the dual in dual out version w true duals put on my 2019 z71 5.3 and I love it...I had straight cat back before and it sounded like garbage at idle now its deep and sounds incredible at idle...still loud plenty loud enough...just sounds amazing really the way mine is set up
I have the same turbo and ifvyou put the gasket on the turbine inlet you'll see the casting needs to be ground/opened up a good bit to match the gasket. I also blended the bolt embossments to blend into the exhast flow better.
