Control CueTimer with Companion and Stream Deck
Connect a Stream Deck stream deck to your computer and control CueTimer without using the program interface. The stream-deck buttons give you all the control that you need: Start and stop countdowns, set the duration, and adjust as you go.
The video shows a workflow where you dont use the CueTimer timer-list to play different countdowns. Instead you reset the timer between each countdown, and set a new duration. For some AV-technicians this is the most bulletproof way to control presentation-timers: You dont rely on an event-schedule given to you in advance, and you keep a flexible workflow where you have everything you need to control timer from one Stream Deck page.

Thanks as of now we havent started the Mac version, comcentrating on Windows first. We chose to do a platform-specific app (not cross-platform) to have better control of how the video-window behaves on top of other applications. This can work differently for Mac and PC
Technically, a streamdeck is not needed since companion can use a browser interface for buttons that can be accessed via a phone or tablet.
Yes that's right. If you mainly need to open presentations from a remote computer over the network, you can just use the webpage created by Companion. But a lot of people would prefer to have physical buttons for these commands.
This was helpful. I was using the 'reuse slides' method and was frustrated that the formatting wasn't coming with the inserted slides.

I’ve been looking for a Presentation Timer Exactly like this for 20 years. Tried them all and they all fall short. This has all of the control that I have been looking for and more! Thank you for this awesome product. I’ve recently started using Companion with stream decks to control my live events. This is going to make things a lot easier for our time keeper!

Thanks for your support! Yes I like the slot-commands too. I think it's an upgrade from the commands where you have the full filename and file path in Companion, because you get feedback on the buttons which confirms that the presentation will work. With the other commands it's very easy to have a spelling-error in the filepath that makes the command unusable, and this is hard to catch until you try the command during a show. (Morten)
This looks great! Question -- can your solution also control multiple machines (for example, a back-up laptop, or a computer running the "next" slide)?
Yes, this is certainly possible, and one of the main features of the Bitfocus Companion software, which works very well with APS. Through Companion you can send network-commands to several machines with APS running at the same time, and ask the to change slides. Nice bit of software. People are already using irisdown remote Show Control. Unfortunaly I don't See a benefit to change. If there was a companion Button to Control a or the internetclicker that would do it for me
Kevin, none of the features showcased in this video is possible with Irisdown Remote Show Control. There are also some differences with how we control presentations, see this video for how we do it with Auto Presentation Switcher: czcams.com/video/HGmd_kziQic/video.html And APS can be used for both Mac and PC, whereas Irisdown is only available for PC. Regarding the Internet-clicker, perhaps the company behind it will add more ways to control it.
Love it. It would be great if I could set a warning time per speaker. Also, can I trigger this in companion?
Hi Eric thanks a lot for your feedback i really appreciate it. We will look into your suggestion of having the option to set warning per timer basis. Currently its a global setting. What we could do is to add another row in the cue-list with "warning-time", with the default option to follow the global setting from "countdown style" menu. We are planning to add a Companion-module for CueTimer like we did with APS, but right now I cant say when this will be ready.(perhaps september) Meanwhile, what you could do is to use Vicreo Hotkey or something similar to trigger shortcuts for CueTimer. Most importantly you have CTRL + Space for "fire next timer" and CTRL + Enter for "Cue Next" These two are also Windows-global shortcuts that will be triggered regardless of what is the frontmost application in Windows, so they should work very well with Companion.
