Symphonie Fantastique - IV. March to the Scaffold
A masterpiece that shows clear, delicate sound. At the beginning resembles a rapid-fire attack with fierce eighth notes and a beautiful, yet ominous voice of the mighty Low Brass. A beautiful composition, especially when the high woodwinds give a nice, round and high voice that dominates the deep voices. Overall, a superior rating for the Wilmington Symphonic Bands! Keep on going kiddos!
I gotta have more coughing.
Beatiful low brass right there
Not the audience clapping between movements 😭
This sounds amazing

I love the third movement
Absolutely beautifully done. The first time I heard this piece played was by the students at Cazadero Music Camp, in California. It brought tears to my eyes then, and brings tears to my eyes now. Thank you.

Here ill add a comment for all my fellow scrollers lol

As a budding young college student, instrumental music teacher, symphony performer, and adjudicator for over 30-years, I never get tired of hearing this masterpiece. I feel that the 1st Scottish Dance could have maybe been performed a little faster, but I can understand the conductor's position. However, overall very expressive. BRAVO!!! -- BS

I found this music while watching Le Mans '66, some of the best music I've ever listened to.
I remember being at this concert when I was at All-District! Great Job!!
I know it's proper etiquette, but I'd rather have people clapping between movements than playing for no audiences
1:27 ❤️
Guys if you're playing Grainger's Children's March you need actual bassoons lol it's like the one band piece with a cool exposed bassoon part
Bro that bass trombone part hit different in the beginning
I know
Very well done. Played it on tuba in 1978 UT Austin Symphonic band - 160 players who played well. It was impressive. I think it calls for antiphonal brass (optional) and we had 40 in the LBJ concert hall.
I count 56 in this ensemble. Big sounds "Over the Hills and Far Away."
I love the French horn in this piece. My favorite part
I absolutely love Yosemite Autumn. I played trumpet for 5 years then switched to french horn due to the lack of horn players. I had only played french horn for one full year prior to getting this arrangement. I was first chair while playing this arrangement senior year of highschool. There was only one other French horn player and I was absolutely nervous to play all the solos especially the one starting the piece, but listening to it now I never truely realized how lengthy this arrangement was.
Playing this in band right now (hs), there’s only around 15 of us but we have fun, and it sounds pretty good :)
Ooooh that horn tho. Sheeesh
We have to play this for all city, I'm scared...
The soldiers are too exhausted to die.
Tempo too fast.
The only time euphonium gets a good part
Beautiful, tears, thank you my friend.
Thank you Phyllis. We are thinking of you ❤️
I've played this arrangement of The SSB, but I don't recall the trumpet solo. Was this written, added, or improvised. It sounds like it was slightly taken from the Bill Moffit arrangement.
Wow a great performance!
Oh no...
I had the honor to play this piece in high school. This song always makes me so emotional, it’s tragically beautiful
such a cool piece of music. Loved it!
conductor just so so.
Nice
A P.S. to my comment below - to be fair, Malcolm Arnold recorded the first dance at only a slightly faster pace.
Thee are lovely dances and quite well played here - the first, though, is very tongue-in-cheek (Arnold laughing up his sleeve) and should be less buttoned-up (and a little faster) than here, I think ; the hell-for-leather performances I've heard work better!
Oh, pull the condescending stick out of your ass, and just enjoy the damned music.
Beautiful dedication, was honored to have played the same solo off stage back in 2001.
Very nicely done. Thanks for posting this (and for mentioning me in the credits).
Great job
Incredible and enjoyable

Beautiful!
Fantastic!!
The best music
People, stop clapping between movements!
Playing this song at school its rlly hard :( but I'm excited
My highschool band plays this, I love it!
