1 of the main reason of having a m12 is for the weight and size, if I needed a stronger one I’ll just use the m18

When you buy tools online you must buy them from an authorized reseller from the manufacturerers website. To be under warranty

does it actually change the voltage or just supplies all 18 volts to a 12 volt motor

I bought two pairs (four batteries in total) on eBay over the past three weeks from two different sellers, and all four sealed batteries turned out to be counterfeit. Fortunately, eBay intervened and ensured I received a full refund. The packaging appeared identical to what you demonstrated; however, both eBay sellers used Amazon's images (showing genuine Milwaukee products) with blister shrink-wrapping around the package's edge, which was not what I received. I've decided not to purchase any more M18 batteries from eBay. Those sellers who were marketing counterfeit Milwaukee M18 batteries have not yet been removed by eBay, which they should be, along with intervention from the FEDS. The batteries were shipped from Los Angeles, but when I requested a refund, I received messages from the sellers indicating they were in China and also wanted to keep half the money. It's time for U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to step in (hopefully after the November 2024 elections). Also note: All 4 of these counterfeit batteries arrived fully charged (4-bars). Genuine Milwaukee batteries I've purchased have a 1-bar/1-light charge and must be charged before first use.

They do make larger 12v batteries.

It does not work for anything high power m12 like m12 impact 3/8 drive, it cuts out and stops ,

You can also get adapters to use those old DeWalt tools with M18 batteries. Saved me so much money switching over to Milwaukee.

What’s the point? I mean the reason the 12 was made was to get into smaller spaces, and weight reducing, while the 18 was made for heavy duty stuff. They make an 18 volt drill, and a 12 volt drill for a reason.

Some tools are only m12 like the die grinders. Really nice to have a m18 battery on those 🤷🏻‍♂️

Be careful though, the M12, especially the non fuel ones are only rated for 12v. Using 18v will pop their circuit boards

What’s surprising about? They Alr make 18v drills, they even have adapters for the old drills for newer 20v batters and studd
