Very nice!! Wish they still made the LR
Thanks . This video is a couple years old and had switched to mosko 80 reckless bags , so much better . It was a good bike but i sold it 2 months ago . They do make LR kits for standard 701s but alas its just not the same .
Is it waterproof?
@@Franz_Schmid i cant say for sure . I know its water resistant
@@johnaquad that's the thing.. They never talk about it. They don't say anything on their website. The reason why I would buy it is, to have navigation in heavy rain, without any problems..
@@Franz_Schmid i would vouch for heavy rain but not if you fell over in deep water submerging it
I have been in heavy rain with it no problem
@@johnaquad nice, thanks for the info! And you can easily put it in the screenlock mode, so the rain drops will not affect the screen? And which adapter should I buy with the main unit? Or is the one which comes with it fine?
Nice bike. I wonder what the weight is with all the mods on?
It was 410 pounds unloaded with full fuel tanks front and rear, though i had forgotten the tools in the bash plate box so gotta include that . So probably 405 pounds wet
@@johnaquad That’s not bad. I’m thinking of a similar build.
@@habibi750 the bike did me well , but i sold it a few months ago and hot a Norden .
How's the visibility in the sun?
Havnt noticed any issues ............yet
What size riser is that ? Did you have enough length in cable for the risers ? I am looking at getting the rox 1.75. I don’t want to waste the money if cable length is an issue.
I think those were 50mm and thats like 2 inch. This was couple years ago so hard to remember . I switched the the brp undermount risers
Why do you care what colors the bike is?
I started changing dirt bike tires in the 1970s. Always had problems. So, I always just gladly paid others to change it. Couple yrs ago, I bought this tool. Complete game changer. Now, I change tires in the woods or at home in mins. Because I ride every week, I don't like bibs or junky tubliss systems.
Have you found a way to make it work better? I am considering getting one, primarily because I can't find a different solution that's better than the ConStand
To this day the only solution has been to strap the top end of the stand to bike
@@johnaquad I see... Have you found any better product you would recommend?
@@danilocianfrone670 no sir . I actually sold the LR last month so i no longer have a need 🤷♂️
What are you using to hold the tire to the changing stand if the no pinch is in the hub?
Nothing . Dont need it while using the no pinch tool
Rottweiler don’t make those filters, it’s made by ITG in the UK for Rottweiler. Rottweiler just make the base plate.
Ok
A little late to the party. Love the build! I’m on a 2016 690. Used the Rally Raid fuel tanks to get Long Range on her. It’s been two years… do you still have her? Any changes or mods since?
As far as changes , i went to the adventure mirrors , ditched the hard panniers and frame and went mosko moto reckless 80. Just sold it 3 days ago and built a norden 901 as her replacement
Solid choice. I’m looking hard at the 901, too. Maybe after I do the TAT and Moab, UT. I’d be interested in your 901 build, if you’re going to do videos on that 👍
@@searchingfor6thgear44 not gonna do any videos on it because the build is done already did it all in one fast shit but there are a couple videos showing it on this channel . Its an awesome bike

Sweet John!
nice video I allso have a Norden 901 2022 I wonder if you heard of there are a rally tower made for these bikes
Havnt heard of any rally towers as of yet
Would love to know more about the DMD T-865 mount! Seems like a nice setup. Mine is hanging a bit low right now, obscuring the cruise control indicator.
Mounting a T865 on a norden is not so straight forward , its gonna take some imagination and this was my third and final solution . 2 ram mount balls both with amps style mounts . 1 shortest ram arm you can find . And the bottom peace of any 901 gps mount where the bottom is removable . take the bottom mount from a norden gps mount , line up amps holes from ram mount then drill holes for threading . I suggest using bolts used for amps mounting . If that makes any sense the rest youll figure out on your own

Question. It's been 2 years. Did your lead acid batteries make it this long? I'm in my 3rd year with LiPo4 batteries and they're still going strong.
The system is almost 5 years old and the lead acid is still good . It is on charge 24/7
I have had mine for 6 years. I charge the 4 batteries every 4 months. Used it last week when our power was down for about 6 hours and worked great.
Thats crazy totally opposite contrast . I feel i can run the 901 on the same trails and conditions that I run on the 701 LR but easier more confidence and I can just break up 901 loose more comfortably than I can the 701 that's probably because I am 5 foot eight with a 30 inch seam which the LR is much taller with a higher center of gravity so it is easier for me personally to run hidden Falls on the 901 then it is a 701 now you give me an EXCF 350 or my XCW 300 at Marlborough Falls and yes I will be tearing shit up but I can still do the same shiton the 901, but I have the carrying capacity to camp and travel long distances which that was the 701 LR main purpose but the 901 just does it better in my opinion
Apparently KTM of North Texas is selling a 701 Enduro LR. I guess they installed the factory kit on it. Around $16k out the door. Very tempting...
Mine is actually going up for sale as soon as the title comes in the mail . I got a norden 901 so the LR must go unfortunately . South east of austin
@@johnaquad I have put 7,000 miles on a Norden 901 that I picked up last June and love it. The Norden is my daily driver. Just want a 701 Enduro for riding tighter trails and places like Hidden Falls and Barnwell Mountain. Too funny that you're going the opposite way. The Norden is a phenomenal bike though. Rode mine 14 hours straight from East Texas to the Alpine Loop in Colorado. Ran Engineers Pass and several of the trails out there and camped off of it for a week on public land. I have even taken it on some gnarly single track around here too. Just a bit of a bear to throw around in the Texas summer heat. I plan on having both for different purposes.
Thanks for sharing information about this tower. How's your opinion on the tower, now with a bit more experience? Would you get it again? I'm trhinking about buying one.
Still have it and i would get it again for the 701 for sure
@@johnaquad Thank you for that extremely quick answer. I'll give this tower a try.
No problem you caught me at a good time 👍
Would you recommend such a motorcycle. Did you have any major problems with it?
its hard to recommend a particular bike for a particular riding style . if you want a very capable more offroad travel bike that can go longer distances with out refueling then yes i recommend the 701LR . if you want the same and have more access to fuel stations then a standard 701 is the way to go. if your not going to see alot of hardcore offroad and alot of highway i highly recommend a norden 901 or 890 .
keep in mind the main downside is have with the LR it is extremely top heavy , very high center of gravity.
and only major problem i had was the clutch slave cylinder failed . luckily caught it at home . they have been guaranteed to fail but all were recalled and or people replaced them . so if you buy used ask if it has been replaced with an upgraded clutch slave cylinder
I tend to drive short distances no further than 200 kilometers, I tend to drive on the main road. When I go off-road I do so without luggage and I'm more of a beginner
Did you have problems with the engine? I read that they sometimes use a little more oil
what about the heavy weight of around 30kg at the back of the bike? Is the frame/ tank strong enough?
i cant speak for 30kg(60 pounds) my heaviest packing is maybe 20kg(44 pounds) with water and beer lol . my bike and a 690 in our group have a reinforced bolt kit for the subframe tank mounts where they normally fail . this area normally fails from people doing some really hard core riding with alot of weight . 30kg sounds like alot for the bike but thats just my opinion
@@johnaquad so I had 35kg with the weight of all three bags. that corresponds to a pure luggage of approx. 25kg. I had all my camping equipment, spare parts, clothing, tools and inner tubes. It's very difficult to carry less weight. I was already travelling spartanly. I was travelling with it for 1.5 years and 55,000 km from Germany to Nepal. The bags from AS have been through a lot and I wonder if the bike can withstand that without a luggage rack. It would be really practical because it would make the bike significantly narrower. the system is also well thought out.
i think it could handle it especially if you put the rade garage air intake with storage box and the nomadadv bash plate tool box so you could distribute heavy tools and such elsewhere like my tools and tire tools go in bashplate box and inner tube and other things under tank
Must have substanstial sub frame improvements over stock. Mine broke with just 2 liters of aux fuel and a tiny tailbag
sorry to hear that , thats gotta suck . yea it does have aftermarket sub frame components for reinforcement but i still would not trust it with a full load on hard hitting terrain so to speak
Box of hair nets mate food quality ,,fine mesh £2 a box there in us maybe $3
Nice build. Thanks for your candor regarding the patience required to work with Nomad. I think I’ll pass.
Cual de los 2 ofrece mas potencia y bajos, el kit rade garage o el rottweiler?
i dont have the way to get precise diagnostics on which filter system adds more horsepower dependent on the same exhaust and ecu programming . like i said in the video , if you are doing long adventure riding the raid garage filter is better for ease of changing filter . if you are doing supermoto i would recommend the Rottweiler filter
Supermoto porqué? Yo llevo el kit rade garage, piñón de 15 y Arrow sin catalizador. Crees que debería poner fueldongle y anular SAS y Evap ? Mi moto es la 701 2020. Gracias por todo.
Did you have any issues mounting the racks to the bike? I have bought the racks for my 2023 701 and nothing lines up. Same issue with the top rack. Seems like it needs two different size shims. I don’t wanna strip out the brass nuts in the sun frame.
it was a challenging as it didnt quite fit up perfectly the was dome stretching and manipulating involved. ive heard this is common
Enjoy !!! 🙂👍👍👍
Can you remove the air filter box without removing the fuel tank?
the rade garage air box can be removed without removing the tank
which air box are you asking about? if your asking about the stock air box yes you have to remove fuel tank to remove stock airbox
Thank you for your reply, I meant the stock air box. One other thing , the pipe which is attached on the bottom of the stock air box, what do I do with that once I install the rade air box?
@@petervolkers8482 the rade garage kit will come with tubes and inserts that will rout thos lines to the side of rade garage airbox . those should be crank case air vents . my set up has those tubes ran to their own separate air filter . i highly recommend you follow the rade garage instructions on how and where to rout those lines
@@johnaquad thank you for your help 👍
This lead battery can only be recharged 50 times. Ecoflow and Bluetti, both lithium ion phospahte batteries, can be recharged between 800 to 5,000 times. I may be wrong on the upper end. Without deep diving into this, Natures Gen is okay if you want to run your fridge or a medical device like a CPAP for a brief period of time. If you want something that will last substantially longer, and for a lot more purposes, I suggest better brands. Ecoflow and Bluetti has quite a few models that are smaller and then to ones that will literally run your entire house. There is another brand called Lycan which is designed to back solar and run your home.
I read on nature's generator website that the lead acid battery has between 500 and 600 charges.
@@michaelmeyers3664 Sorry, there's no way a lead acid battery has that much, semi-comparable to a lithium or phosphate lithium. The specs I read say 50x, max. to full before it losses 100%.
Just fitted an XTrig to 2018 701 Enduro wound it down to add preload and it started to get harder to turn. Tried to back it off. It will not move either way it is seized on the thread. Not happy never got to fit it to the bike.
How does the two tanks work in practicality? Is it seamless? Does the switch that moves flow from tanks work well? Would you suggest the LR vs single tank model?
in practicality it works great if you are taking very long trips and it lessons gas stops and lessons keeping up with mileage stress. seamless? yes at the flip of a switch instantly switches pumps . the switch does require some maintenance of cleaning contacts or you can buy and wire up a more water proof switch , the oem switch contacts are subject to corrosion. as far as recommending ? depends on what kinda of distances you plan on traveling. if you want a light adventure adventure bike for long distance travel then yes i recommend it . if you plan on more ruff terrain and tight trails i recommend the standard single tank with rade garage 1gl aftermarket extra tank . the LR is very top heavy making ruff terrain and tight trail's challenging, this one weighs 406 pounds without gear heavy for a trail bike but light for an adventure bike . choose wisely for your type of riding you want
@@johnaquad Wow, no clue it weighed so much. So the non-LR bike starts off at 342lbs wet. I guess the extra 3 gallons for the LR adds 20 lbs wet. So that means you added over 40lbs of add-ons? I'm learning. I'm coming from a F850GSA weighing in at 550lbs and I took it from Florida to Thailand over 5-6 months and 25,000km -- heavy beast in Kazakhstan, trust me. So I am planning another long range trip and will beef up my bike for safety and reliability and extra fuel range - and if its a 701 then I was wondering which to go with... But over 400lbs is low for me -- but I was hoping it would get to 380lbs all loaded... Guess not. I just want to ensure that if I did get an LR -- that it works properly without any issues.
@@Coldgecko i was under the understanding the LR version is 364lbs wet. that 406 is with some weight loss items like exhaust ect but adding the weight of the tower and the "tool bin bash plate" full of tools, paniers and steering/bar clamp kit , all the extra mods really add up quick. sounds like the LR is more up your ally , your not the first ive heard of asking or actually getting an LR from a F850GSA . now as far as problems most of the problems have been solved , but it is a KTM product and luck of the draw sometimes leads to a problematic bike if that makes sense . their is a group on facbook if you have it that is strictly for the LR if you find and join could be a great place for info
@@Coldgecko also keep in mind this is an old video , my final set up that i have stuck with is i ditched the hard paniers and frame only kept the top flat part and i use the mosko moto reckless 80L bags wich i swear by
Thank you for the down to earth review. yellow 13 Bike breakers will probably be buying one soon.
a year later since video i still use the heck out of it . even went with the larger back pack version for my surron and onewheel rides . in the long term i would say the best thing is the no monkey on your back flopping around

Very nice end product !!!! Prices would have helped a lil more but the review still very well done !! TY
Prices vary worldwide
Amazing!!!
I’d love to hear a one year follow up on your thoughts around the tower. Bike looked great a year ago! How’s the wind and buffeting at highway speed?
as of today march 27 . wind buffering is fantastic with the tower . the tower is great for this bike as apposed to my excf350 had one and i ended up removing it from that bike but yes the tower still worth it and holding up . though i do wish i would have gotten another brand only because nomad-adv is a small outfit that has trouble keeping up with demand . the bike itself in the long term has been only useful as an adventure bike . shes had a couple fall overs and one lost front end into a barbed wire fence so shes got some minor scratches and normal wear and tare . recently went to a 14 tooth front sprocket and thats been a great help for offroad. final thought a year later ? the bike is heavy , top heavy , extremely lumbering when fully loaded down for camping. i couldnt imagine owning this bike without a tower it is a must in my opinion. in hindsight i should of just went with a standard 701 or 690 . the weight takes alot of fun out of it . but still a great long distance bike and better option then any adventure class bike
Brother, I could not have installed my Nomad Navigation Tower without the videos you made of your own installation of the Nomad Tower on your 701 LR. However, someone needs to sue them for absolutely terrible instructions. :-). It took me roughly 2 1/2 days to get it installed on my 2020 Husky 701 Enduro, but most of the time was spent trying to understand the instructions. Again, love your videos and now I have to look for luggage to take me on the Colorado BDR (hopefully) this summer. Any recommendations?
oh lord yes the instructions were horrible, half the build was guess work lol . as far as luggage ive tried several different styles and brands ended up swearing by the mosko moto reckless 80 . extremely high dollar but worth every penny. most of the guys in our group run them and those who dont are saving money to get them
@@johnaquad Thanks for the reply, I'll take a.further look at the Reckless 80.
Thanks, that's very good information.
Amazing bike i own one and can say hands down best investment its a thrill to ride wnjoy it
Good trick. I'm gonna try it. Where do you live??? 🤣
good one 😂🤣
I’m sold after watching your video. I watched another video prior to yours and I wasn’t really convinced. He struggled with the tire install. But I see now why he struggled. I’ll be ordering one now.
Do you still use them and do they hold up
it is still set up and operating as it should . i only actually use it every couple months to make sure its operational as it us set up as a back up generator for house . once in a blue moon ile use it for dry camping on my truck camper . solar panels have went through some hard core weather conditions and still work great . now the wind turbine on the other hand is showing signs of wear , mostly blades have chips from tree branches and hail and material is degrading but gotta give it kidos for lasting this long . i did purchase blade replacements from natures generator just havnt installed,
@johnaquad awesome because I'm ordering one but I seen people complaining about the plug ports so I was thinking if I made a good choice
@@evananthonybaez theres plenty of peoples in this world that will complain about something. just like alot of people argue lithium batteries are way better then the acid cell used in these and you know what ? they are right and they should buy a system with lithium instead of arguing with me on whats better. yes there are better systems out their but the natures generator has been working just fine for me and my needs and i paid less then a similar system of other brands . you will be just fine
@@johnaquad thank you
I have the elite version of this system. No complaints. It is simple to set up if you don't want to deal with a wiring headache and it is portable. Plug and play. Sure, Cpt Nuts is right you can save money by putting together a system, but this is good for noobies.
Hi, I see you have an Arrow muffler, how did you secure it so that luggage doesn't touch it? Was the metal clamp added by Mosko enough? I ordered a Wings muffler for my Husky 701 and I'm wondering how to mount it. Regars, Radek
i used the metal heat shield that came with the musko . it clamps on with a large hose clamp that comes with it. it works well to keep the musko off exhaust . the musko has a saddle that is very rigid and will keep the bags from being floppy and not touch exhaust when using heat sheald
@@johnaquad Thanks
how does it work with a chest protector on
havnt used it with a standard chest protector, i use fox body armor and its doable, a little tight but doable
Too expensive for a 12 v acid battery
Nice trial
