This is how I made insect looking eyes for a sculpture I purchased. It takes some time, 1mm glass beads, silicone, clay and a few other odd and ends.
Bills Islands In The Sky Time lapse

This is a 20 minute time lapse while at Grand View Point Overlook looking at Island In the Sky. The clouds were scarce this day so not much cloud activity overhead or shadows on the ground.

2001 Space Odyssey Discovery Lighted

This is the 1/144 scale model from Moebius Models. It includes a Pod Bay and Cockpit kit as well. LED's are from a kit made for this model as well as chips from Evan Designs. I likes the flickering LED's for the propulsion. In order to detach the sphere in case I need to get at the electronics I also designed and 3D printed a coupling so the sphere can be detached.

AS 196 compressor making a racket.

My compressor was sounding like it might break! So I had to take it apart and see what it might be. This is the third repair I've done on this compressor. But it is simple enough to fix, so think I'll keep it. Just loose items that needed to be tightened.
2001 Jeep Cherokee Roof Rack fix

When I got the car painted I removed the roof rack and some cross bar adjustment buttons lost spring tension. Could not move the cross bars. This is my fix.
SnugTop For 2006 Chevy Avalanche 1500

This is the new SnugTop I got for the Avalanche. I got it for car camping and off road dry camping. Makes it nice and roomy inside for a 6 inch thick sleeping pad. Excuse some of the stuff inside, have not unpacked totally from the last camp trip.

How well did this work in inclement weather? Any issues with leaks during heavy rain? Did you ever do that other video you discussed in the comments showing it used for camping/overlanding? Curious to see a bit more. Wish there was still some way to get into the side compartments with pull down drawers from the interior of the bed for just this reason.
I've had the top for some time now. It has treated me well in terms of keeping out the elements. Just a bit ago I noticed some drips from the top during heavy rain and driving. It was coming in around the seal for the luggage rack bars, rear passenger side. Some clear silicone sealed it up again.

I need one for my 2012 LS Avalanche
I love the one I got. Makes that space much more usable. Go to a dealer and talk to them about it. I have yet had to haul something that requires I take the top off, and I've hauled a lot of stuff. Big furniture would be an issue I suppose.

Hi, is there any way that you can show the bar mechanism . I got one that need the replacement bars, but the new ones that I just got are different. Do you have the red button to open the latch from the inside? thanks
You mean these bars? I put a couple pictures on CZcams. czcams.com/video/eLhS90fLqg0/video.html I have a lever inside not a button. I also clamp the bars from the inside so they can't be pried open for additional security.
Always loved Have You Heard/The Voyage since I got "This Is The Moody Blues" back in '74 with my first wage packet on leaving school. Been a fan before and since! Oh! . . . and great visuals!!! 🌿🦊🌿

You lose the side storage with the snug top on the avalanche but have seen people cut and install boat hatches to still access the side storage compartments.
I suppose you could do that. So far I have just learned to live without them. But I do like that side storage on the Avalanche.

i always wondered how this clamped or attached to an Avalanche bed rail since it sits on top of the side compartments and not the bed cover rails.
Ya, it's the 5 or so bolts on the roof plastic armor and the two bolts over the rear tail lights that hold it. Huge seals all around keep water out. I've been down dirt roads for 60 miles and had it for some time now with no leaks. Fine dust does get in around the back gate area going down dirt roads.
Do you have to keep the bed cover on? I see there is still a piece there?
No don't have to, but I like to keep one in by the window for a shelf. I put my swim stuff on it to dry with the side windows open. Sleeping inside the cover helps to have an extra shelf by my feet to store stuff too.

Thank you for your video, this helped me fix my AS-196A as well. I think I had several issues. One of the red valve plates had a corrosion in the metal which kept the little rubber valve open. Then I also had a wet non-return valve, I didn't have a sponge in it, so I cut myself a little piece which for now did the trick. Also my solonoid valve wasn't screwed in thight, solved that. After checking and tightening all the nuts. My compressor now shuts off after reaching 4 bar instead of blowing off all pressure. Plus my compressor also doesn't blow off anymore when you turn it off. Next to that I made a little field mod, I added a little piece of string to the blow-off valve so I can release the air in the tank after I'm done.
All sounds good.

Best if you look for your closest SnugTop dealer and call them to see if you can order one. Got mine a bit ago, don't know why they would scrap the tools to make them.....good luck.

FYI, snugtop discontinued making these a few years ago, so unfortunately these are no longer being made. You may have a gold mine if you haven’t sold it yet. Be better than bitcoin haha
I took delivery of this one January 2021. So it would have to be after that. Regardless, I suppose it gets sold with the truck......whenever that would be.

question, what did you do about the side windows, area around roll bar type plastic? does snug provide a window or did you do that separate?
That little triangular opening on each side in the roof/bed plastic moulding is filled in with a triangular insert that the SnugTop dealer installs as well. It's part of the package.
Now it's a Suburban again.

I didn't make it. You go to a SnugTop dealer, put in an order and they make it for you. 6-10 weeks or so.

I think I will hold on to the truck and top for now. It's been an awesome off road and camping vehicle.

Just have to find a dealer for SnugTop in your area and they order it from SnugTop. Give them your Avalanche paint code and they match it. Does not seem as if anyone has them laying around. Takes six-ten weeks or so to get.
Fixed my leaking As196. Air leaked from solenoid valve but turned out to be the ball bearing corroded. £1 for 2 new ball bearings....saved me alot of money
I purchased the snugtop shell for my 2009 avalanche 8 months ago. A lot of dust enters the enclosed area. Does yours have that issue?
Actually yes, sort of. After my 30 miles there and 30 miles back (60 miles total on a dirt road) to the Racetrack in Death Valley I noticed a very fine layer of dust coating the inside of the enclosed area in places. I attributed this to the seals not fitting all that snug against the tailgate corners. So the turbulent wake at the back of the Avalanche (it has quite a blunt back end) kicks up a lot of fine dust. I just wiped it down after unpacking. I also roll with the windows down sometimes and that lets in monster dust!
@@phototrecker thanks. Looking at mine closely I see rear lift glass has many unsealed areas. It doesn't seal against tailgate and has large gaping holes where the topper meets the truck. Looks like the design isn't good. I can plug some and will try to realign the rear glass to help. Very frustrating having to fix their deficiencies.

This is literally the best vehicle ever made. I had no idea the avalanche can drop the midgate down .
Yes, midgate, window and cross bar for a cavernous interior. It is ONE of the main reasons to get an Avalanche. Not to mention the rear locker for 4WD off-road camping and the truck-like bed to haul tall stuff. Wish they still made them.

You don't need to take of the cylinder heads you can loosen the 4 bolts that hold the motor part against the tank. Lift the complete motor a bit and you've got clearance to take it out!

I have this compressor I purchased from Amazon and was very happy with it, great capacity and good price. After about 2 years it developed a small leak which causes it to turn on about every 4 minutes. Your video is great but I apparently have a different check valve, it has different dimensions and internally has a rubber "flapper" design to prevent back flow. I opened it and cleaned up the bit of residue on it and it helped slow the leak to a recharge about every 10 minutes. I have discovered replacement check valves like this are available to replace my cheap rubber valve but they have to come from Europe, apparently from Germany. I am going to order one as I don't want to chuck an entire good compressor because of one small bad part. Thanks for the video, it helped.
You're welcome. I do not check this very often as you can tell. I get so much help from CZcams fix videos that when I fix something like this I feel I should post in case it helps others as well.

Hi, greatings from Brazil. Could you please confirm a doubt: The counter-weigh pieces are assembled aligned (eg.: both at 6 o´clock) or in oposition (eg.: one at 6 o´clock and the other at 12 o´clock) ?
is it possible to add bigger tank like 10l ? will it work like that ?
