My dad is a marine this was the 1st place he went in 1992 we are from texas and moved to California to be with him in Temecula near camp pendleton but he said them civilians were good with a sling shot

I'm mostly looking for people who were in Mogadishu, and I haven't gotten a chance to hear an Americans POV. I find it a huge shame that so many interesting stories are becoming entirely lost to history because they are never recorded.

The sad part. In the end Highmark never covered the treatment and we had to take out a loan to pay for it all. We’re still paying to this very day. But the good news, our son is now back to normal! The treatments worked and he’s living a “normal” teenage life. Don’t rely on doctors or insurance to provide guidance, you have to advocate for your child. Otherwise, no one else will.

The reason why it happened.. US Marines did a great job but then the people turned on them because they marines were not going through the targets houses but goin through the civilians who are helping them.. Lots of innocent civilians died helping the United States.. and then the wor lords used the people against Marines.. knowing that every Somalian was armed and dangerous

Well maybe u can find it in other sources. America was the main force behind the operation, so what u see will be them mostly. But I agree that they should show Malaysia. Maybe Malaysia can get their journalists, reporters etc to interview their own Malaysian soldiers next time. And maybe later make a film for themselves.

Dude, these were absolutely Marines in the video. I know b/c I was their commanding officer and that’s me giving the interview. And yes, Marines wore helmet bands. But definitely an odd thing to contest. God Bless!
@@CaptMac-zw8mz I was in Somalia as part of 10th Mtn. If I am wrong, I am sorry. But when I have been with Marines, I don't remember them wearing helmet bands. That was one way to differentiate them at a glance. (Coicidentally, my S2 boss was a Cpt. JOHN McPherson!) My Avn Bde went to Baledogle my first time. When we returned months later, we were on the University compound in Mog. and that was when the Black Hawks were shot down.
Marty Smith - No worries! We were all there for the same reason. And unlike what the media reported, we were there to help the fine Somali people, not hurt them. We ended a 2-year civil war and escorted hundreds of truckloads of food and water. It was beautiful to watch the city of Mogadishu transform before our eyes. Be well!

Tk Sim - Hello, my only regret is they didn’t leave us there long enough to finish the job. I truly felt like we made fantastic progress. I distinctly remember what Mogadishu looked like the day we landed and the day we left. We had a tremendously positive impact early on. However, Al-Qaeda came into theater about 3 months after we arrived and things got serious quickly. Initially we rode around with no armor and our HMMWV doors off. We had just settled a 2-year civil war and folks were generally happy. But there’s always that 5%. In the end, we should have done more to help support the transition government and properly vetted those coming into power. It’s a shame as we did a lot of good early on that seemed to be wasted in the end. Apologies for the delayed response, for some reason I was not notified of your post. God Bless!

wow!! the Military Police in this raid was the US Army's 571st MP company from Fort Ord, California. I recognized the Hummer as one of mine. We were attached to the MARFOR the only Army unit until 10th Mountain came in.

sorry your wrong i was the 1SG and had the mission along with 283 Army MPs there we took the mission directly from Gen Johnson himself. If USMC MPs were there i never saw them i worked with the 311th artillery guys who were working as Infantry there out of 29 Palms California. When i did see Marine MPs they were at the Airport and the reason we were given the mission was they did not have the Vehicles or resources manpower to complete this mission. I understood there were the TOC Guards mostly. We were part of 311th MARFOR from Jan 93 to May of 93 when we were turned over to the ARFOR. that is in the history book .

No, Highmark never did step up and provide IVIG coverage for our son with PANDAS. Sad. And very expensive.
