Y'know, I agree and disagree. I also keep up with everything in the MCU, I've seen all the movies and Disney+ shows, as well as watched a fair bit of the Netflix series. Recently I watched through the Fox X-men series and right now I'm picking off a few other pre-mcu marvel films that I heard were referenced in Deadpool 3 in advance of watching. I agree that the MCU deserves to have a focused overarching plotline, and I don't like that it feels like they leave so many little plot threads dangling all over the place, but I think that a massive criticism from so many people is that there's just so much homework for each show. Every new film that comes out has less and less appeal to the average viewer who doesn't wanna be lost in the theater without having seen 2 or 3 seasons of TV shows. Culmination movies like Avengers 1 and Infinity War were great because you could still easily keep track of everything without needing to have seen every single prior film, but that's a lot harder with something like The Marvels where having not seen any one of the three character's focal series basically shunts you out of a huge part of what was going on. There's just way too much scope creep for each project to be bigger, reference more from elsewhere, and bring up more for future things to be referenced. Stuff like Moon Knight and Werewolf By Night were awesome and didn't have any prerequisites while also feeling complete enough on their own, the latter of the two feeling basically completely disconnected from the rest of the franchise. I never watched Agents of Shield, but I heard a big selling point of it was that it fleshed out the rest of the franchise while not being necessary required reading. I'm not fully sure what the right middle ground is. Maybe they could use D+ series to resolve dangling plot threads from the less commercially viable properties. The only way I feel that they can continue to tighten the focus of the MCU as a whole and avoid intensifying burnout would be to just make fewer things and do them with safer headlining characters, and that just unfortunately feels boring from an "mcu fan" perspective.

we need to talk about wordle. Nuder is not a valid word. It's only common words. When was the last time you said something was nuder? Neither is Bever (dialectal, chiefly British : shiver, tremble). With two more guesses you probably could have got it. Also "refer" is not pronounced "reefer".

The satire is just bad this season. Seasons 1 and 2 were smart, season 3 was a void, and season 4 is just a lazy lense of what Seth Rogen sees politics as. It's hard now that the main characters do almost nothing, and the characters are hardly as smart as they were in the first seasons.

Did the the inside front And back covers also rip lengthwise of the connecting end papers once you (merely) opened it to read? I am saddened but that is what happened to my copy five minutes into (careful) handling.

I agree mostly just with little variations: church on ruby road was amazing, but I think god tier is a little much. high tier. space babies felt like diarrhea. diarrhea tier. the devils chord was really bad but the acting saved it a little. sh*t tier. boom was good but compared to, for example oxygen, which has very similar story beats and message, it is very flawed but still a hundred times better than kerblam. mid tier. 73 yards was an instant classic. It was a couple dozen meters away from perfect but for me it was a definite high tier dot and bubble had really awful story material to work with and they still made something really good somehow. I'd say mid but I have so much respect for that I gotta put it in high tier. rogue had a great vibe and concept and had a distinct s2 feel but it also feels really rushed and forced. still the character dynamics and acting were great. mid tier. lors was so good I loved it but it's other half (eod) just drags it down miles. It's really sad. still better than devil's chord tho. low tier.

RTD is master of overkill. When I heard you use that word I thought spot on correct and such a prominent reason for massive failures such as the finale. Take care cheers.

Loved this season and 73 yards is probably my favorite episode despite how strange it is. Definitely agree with all your gripes on Empire of Death - I've been struggling to put into words why it bugs me, and your description of RTD retconning evidence instead of subverting expectations is spot-on. Something I found is starting to disappoint me and that I dislike about recent episodes is how the Doctor seems to be so easily defeated. Our hero of the story seems to fall into a pit of "this is the end", "there's nothing I can do", "I can't fight this" super easily considering everything in the universe that they've had to face off against. His extreme emotions are being overused. The Doctor's attitude used to be "no weapons, no tools, no plan - this is when I'm scariest" and now he kind of just crumbles or freezes if something intimidates him. It feels disheartening and I think that it (combined with the weird, more supernatural elements of the show lately?) may be a warning sign of Disney meddling. Ruby's "arc" (I really hope it's not actually finished, the snow thing bugs me) had a kind of fairy tale ending, after all... but Doctor Who isn't a fairy tale.

Cool that you enjoyed this one. I really enjoyed it too when I started my BritBox journey about a year ago.

For real, the Consceince of Marinus is one of the scariest concepts the classic show ever came up with - and it's just a plot device! I would love to see a sequel which actually explored how bad an idea it is to create something like that. Because, you know... whose morality? What system is used to decide if something is ethical? What about edge cases? The programmer's brain in me is screaming about how wrong this is, and... nobody in the fandom really talks about it either.

I'm glad you got something out of these episodes. I thought they were terrible.

Some don’t like Edge Of Destruction but I love it. Susan’s meltdown in the first episode was brilliantly done by Carole Ann Ford.

You can’t compare classic Doctor Who to any type of recent Doctor Who. They’re two different things.

You said near the end that you don't know what happens to Susan and companions. That is super cool that you aren't reading ahead on any of the hundreds of episode guides online. You'll enjoy it way more not knowing anything about what comes next!

The next story is the Daleks’ debut story.

My first time experience on the journey was starting with Master of the Daleks after watching a CZcams documentary of it. It can be difficult to view some missing footaged episodes in the classic that only have audio restored and still images. But there are also animated versions that are good to watch. I have finished watching The Web of Fear. Here are my favourite stories tahat I liked so far The War Machines,The Power of The Daleks, The Moonbase, The Macra Terror, The Faceless Ones, The Evil of The Daleks (It can be slow and slightly anoying, but does get good until the end)The Tomb of the Cybermen.
