    She's right and fair. Euphemizing some stuff. Glad you mentioned the politics. It's mild mannered here, though. Nobody's in your face, but if you ask, you're gonna hear things that make you wonder if it's still the 50's. Stuff people complain about: Worst-of-all-worlds weather; suburban complacency; aspiring-to-basic attitudes; cliquish, intolerant small towns; lack of advancement opportunity and low wages if you don't live in Indy; housing prices getting ridiculous; medical, artistic, and intellectual underdevelopment; boring, more boring, and cornfields; long drive to "civilization"; expanding "Two Americas" dynamic, some towns made up entirely of churches, bars, and Dollar Generals... Stuff people like: Generally decent people who go out of their way to help someone in need (and WILL let you in in traffic!); relatively low violent crime; prices still slightly below national average; never "too crazy"; active small-town sports culture; an Applebee's within driving distance of every town, Olive Garden for special occasions... Yeah, you could do worse, but you definitely could do better. You live a small life here. Most people move away after college and move back when they have kids. They're still bored and stifled here, but at least their kids don't get shot at on the daily (unless you're in Indy). Indiana is where you go to "settle down"--when your dreams have died.

    Good morning, Seen from France where we are world champions with 60,000 roundabouts, reporting them as an inconvenience seems lunatic to me. It's so much more convenient than waiting at traffic lights, and it's so much less dangerous. You can run a fire, not a roundabout, otherwise you end up on the grass, not in another car. Otherwise the city seems quite nice compared to the usual horrors that we see in the USA. The marked seasons, the very green environment, the facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. It must be good to live there as they say in France. Greetings from the French Riviera as you call our Côte d'Azur.

    • @geesamanhomes
      @geesamanhomes Před 15 dny

      Thank you for watching and your comments! As far as roundabouts go, in Europe they are probably safer than here in the USA. The problem here is there are some people that don’t know how to navigate roundabouts properly, and cause traffic slowdowns and accidents on a daily basis. But I assume that should get better the more people get used to them.

Remember to be patient, as there will always be things that either go wrong or you decide you want changed when building a home (no matter if it's a production home vs. custom home). The key is addressing it as soon as you notice it, as depending on the issue if you wait too late it may cost a lot more money and time to fix it.

    I have lived in my first, AND LAST, HOA community! Never again! I would gladly pay a 50% price premium for a non HOA house, but they simply don't exist in our area. The city WILL NOT issue new building permits to developers for non HOA developments. Moved here from across the country for work. Had no experience or knowledge about HOAs. It "seemed" like an OK idea when explained by the realtor and we needed a house so we bought in (not that there was much in the way of alternatives). The first 10 years things went OK. The HOA maintained the common areas and pretty much left everyone alone unless there were gross violations. Then, the "wrong" people got control of the board and we found ourselves in the HOA from hell. Tyrannical doesn't begin to describe it. They actually issued schedules for when homeowners were going to trim their trees, chemicals that you were to use on your lawns/plants, and when you were going to apply them. They approved massive architectural changes for board members homes that were out of step with the community. Then the shady (illegal?) dealings started with the reserve funds. Some rules are enforced with an iron fist, while others are totally ignored. At this point, 3 foot high weeds and junk cars up on blocks are looking pretty good! Want to get out, but handcuffed to the house by the current economic and interest rate situation. Moral of the story : No matter what an HOA "may" look like at the time you consider a home purchase, there is no guaranty that it will remain that way. Far better to be in control of your situation than suffer the whims of people you don't know and who don't necessarily share your values.

    If you want a dead state with almost nothing interesting, run by actual bigots you might like the little dump. Its the state equivalent of that part of town that you can't understand why people live there on purpose. Don't forget these are the people who gave us Mike Pence.

    I think IN has one of the lowest sales tax compared to other states that have sale tax. A lot of states add city taxes to it's sales tax so total sales tax is between 8-11% in places like AZ, AR, AL and more:) Thanks for the video:)

    Northern Indiana, is potentially one of the most beautiful places in the country, but the problem is, they built I-65, and drove a bunch of bureaucrats up here to sit our people down and convince them to bend over. Pity I sit and look online at all the poverty in the local areas that are connected to our interstate system. They designed our transportation infrastructure, to serve the needs of whoever was running the rubber and oil industry at the time. We had train trollies here, and these pieces of sht, bought all the politicians, and addicted everyone to crude oil. And now look at us,, still half the country worshiping those ppl, pity Indiana isnt only religious, I mean republican, but they are the variety of private corporate brainwashing of children and teens. I'm not kidding about this crap.

      I don't typically handle rentals, but I know there are a lot of resources online that can help you find affordable places to rent around Indy. Thanks for watching!

    My wife and her family lived Elwood and Noblesville since the 40's. I met my in High School in the late 70' while her Mom and Dad lived in Castleton and I lived in Lawrence.. ( Back when it was safe.) But long story short, 6 years after we were married we moved to Noblesville in the summer of 1999.. And we have been out here in Hamilton County ever since. But we moved to Westfield in 2017.. I've love it out here , both in Noblesville and Westfield.. And i believe that anyone moving out to Hamilton County will love it as well.

    I currently live in California and I’m thinking of moving to a small town in Indiana to complete my masters degree more comfortably. Cost of living is cheaper and even with out of state tuition, the state school im looking at in Indiana is 30k cheaper than a private school here in CA

      I love that you were able to find a college here in Indiana that is much cheaper than California. Please let me know if I can help in any way with your relocation to Indiana!

    Hi, my family and I are relocating to Indianapolis from another town in Indiana for a job opportunity with the city/county of and since I am limited to those areas within the municipal boundaries could you tell me some of the safest neighborhoods?

    • @geesamanhomes
      @geesamanhomes Před 2 měsíci

      Anything inside "the loop" of I-465, and from a neighborhood to neighborhood standpoint, those statistics are not really given in any of the crime statistic websites that I mention in my video. The idea of "safety" is a very subjective idea, so it's hard to dictate what is considered a "safe" area vs an "unsafe" area. We recommend all of our clients drive around each of the areas they are considering living in during different times of day to determine if YOU feel the area is "safe" or not. Please feel free to contact me directly as I would love to talk through the areas you are thinking about moving to more specifically. Also...thanks for watching!!!
