      It doesn't work like qwerty at all. It's a lot more powerful. Words that should be capitalized just are already, like Saturday. I just stroked one chord, SATD, and it wrote Saturday. In fact, most words I've written so far here have been one stroke. Like "it doesn't work like qwerty at all" is T/TKOPBT/WORBG/HRAOEUBG/KWERT/KWREU/AT/AUL. Only "qwerty" was two strokes; the rest were one each. So I pressed down on the keyboard 8 times to write those 7 words. Notice that means I never hit a space key. It puts those in for you, too. I have a bunch of modes I can switch into with one stroke. FOR CAPS I JUST STROKE KA*PS, AND NOW EVERY WORD IS COMING OUT CAPITALIZED. To turn it off I reset with R*EFT. But I have tons more modes, Like I Can Type In Title Case Like This, Where All Words Have Their First Letter Capitalized, or_I_can_write_in_snake_case_like_this, orICanWriteInCamelCaseLikeThis, orIcanjustturnofftheautospacinglikethis. 𝕴 𝖈𝖆𝖓 𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖓 𝖜𝖗𝖎𝖙𝖊 𝖎𝖓 𝕸𝖊𝖉𝖎𝖊𝖛𝖆𝖑 𝖒𝖔𝖉𝖊 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖘. i Can ALsO Be vERy SarCasTic LikE ThIS. There are many more, but you get the idea. I can even combine things, 𝕷𝖎𝖐𝖊_𝕴_𝕮𝖆𝖓_𝖂𝖗𝖎𝖙𝖊_𝕴𝖓_𝕸𝖊𝖉𝖎𝖊𝖛𝖆𝖑_𝕾𝖓𝖆𝖐𝖊_𝕿𝖎𝖙𝖑𝖊_𝕮𝖆𝖘𝖊. I wrote this whole paragraph about as fast as normal, just by flipping modes on and off, and writing the words the way I always do. I also wrote "as fast as" in a single stroke. I do that for tons of phrases. There is a whole steno alphabet, for the rare times you need to spell something out. Writing hello that way would be H*/*E/HR*/HR*/O*, and if I wanted HELLO, it would be H*P/*EP/HR*P/HR*P/O*P. Steno handles all the capitalization and spacing for you. After a period, the next thing is spaced out and capitalized. You can use this in your own definitions, too, so my brief for "Mr. and Mrs.", which is PHEURS (MIRS in steno-see, I had to spell out MIRS as PH*P/*EUP/R*P/S*P), also tells the next word to be capitalized, so I can write Mr. and Mrs. Aardvark in two strokes, because I have a single stroke brief for aardvark. But we're just talking capitals here. If you actually mean shift, well, there's more to that, too, that you're probably taking for granted. You can define anything to have a shifted key in it, but I use the Emily's Modifiers plugin to systematize it, which gives me access to more than you have on qwerty. Like I can do the usual ctrl+alt+x in a single stroke (KP-BLGTS; it makes sense when you learn the system, and then you don't even think about it), but I can also do ctrl+alt+¶, which I have no idea how to do on qwerty. I switched to steno fully months ago, and one day I tried to use qwerty again, and even though I haven't lost any skill there, I immediately ran into things I'm used to being able to write so easily now on steno, that I couldn't do on qwerty. I gave up within a few minutes, and came back to steno.

    Cool how about kid cat

    • @gfixler
      @gfixler Před 2 hodinami

      Sure: kid cat. It's just KEUD/KAT. There's no definition for that pair of strokes, so it just comes out as the two words. I'm writing this in steno now, and not hitting any spaces. I'm just writing the words, most in one stroke, and it's putting in the spaces for me. The only reason KEUT/KAT comes out as KitKat is that there's a definition that says KEUT/KAT-those two strokes in order-are KitKat. If you want kit cat, you just add a space between them, KEUT/S-P/KAT, three strokes. This works out basically 100% of the time, because none of us has ever written "kit cat" until this video came out 😆 (check the comments; there are 800 variants of this question)

    Ain't no way this is more efficient than a traditional QWERTY keyboard. Like, I can understand what you're trying to achieve, but if it ain't broke don't fix it 🤷

    • @gfixler
      @gfixler Před 2 hodinami

      I can assure you this is more efficient. Qwerty was designed in 1874, and not for speed, but for comfort and quick learnability. This layout was designed in 1911, specifically for speed. It was made to mimic pen shorthand, but through a machine. It's the gold standard for efficiency, which is why it's used by court reporters, live captioners, and closed captioners for TV. It's the only way to keep up at the speed of speech, all day every day. Here's that fastest dude going almost 100 WPM slower than his world record, which is 370 WPM. czcams.com/video/VJkbDQnX07U/video.html
