Steve, you posted this eleven years ago!!! And here I am 2024 repairing a vhs because it hold some of life’s most precious memories!!! I was told this was not possible- and that left me crying and feeling pitiful!! I’m so glad I decided to check online- because your tutorial was so easy and detailed that I was able to fix the tape and save by copying!!!! My heart, and the hearts of my family for generations to come thank you good sir. GOD BLESS YOU!
Oops I meant to say it HOLD’s!
All mine don’t have regular screws. Idk if it’s because they’re so old but mine are all circle and can’t find a key for them
Ty
Thank you! I had an old VHS that kept stopping after a few seconds. Turns out there was a huge broken piece of plastic caught in the tape. I got it removed and am not digitising old home movies. Great, easy to follow video!
Thank you so much for this!
great video thank you so much

What happens if that spring comes out?
Brilliant!👍😃 You're a star!🌟🌟⭐ Fixed a broken 42 year old video tape that snapped as I digitised it!
Thank you for this perfect guide. I have a video transfer side-hustle and get the occasional broken tape. I took a cassette apart and everything fell out, found your video and was able to put it humpty dumpty back together, with a neat splice per your instructions. Great job!
This vhs player i just got ripped the film of the year i was born. I am very upset. I hope this will fix it.
Saved my daughter's first piano lesson tape!! Thanks!!
Along with fixing. Please provide where to send old VHS tapes to record on disc. Then I can pitch this, thing.
At 7:55. What exact position is that spring supposed to be in ??? It's hard to see, can't enlarge. And go slower !🎉
Absolutely excellent video my friend God bless you 😊
Thank you for making this easy to follow tutorial! Just rescued a VHS for a friend. Much appreciated!
Glad I found this, this is exactly what I was needed! Thank you very much! My question is: do I have to open the cassette if we cut the TRANSPARENT, ending part of the tape? . Last night the player (which works perfectly fine) bit the tape in while spat the cassette out. (most likely the tape wasn't clean, its an old, but official release, not a home video). The player designed too tricky and boxy and couldnt find a way to reach the inside, so we cut the tape to get it out and separate the cassette and the player. fortunately we could cut the transparent part of the tape, at the end of it, and not the content-filled part. Also, are we sure the common scotchtape (or whatever it's called in english) is safe for this use? As I know that type of tape tends to let the glue go and flow after some time.
It's 2023 and I'm here repairing a VHS tape hahah Thanks for the tutorial.
Just followed this video and repaired my tape. Irreplaceable memories from 30 years ago saved. It will be a merry Christmas when my adult kids see this. .
Thank you for this! It saved me. However, I goofed and opened it wrong. If anyone else does the same thing, the trick is to simply get out another VHS tape, and open that one the RIGHT way, then simply replace the entire tape spools. Worked! Thanks for your help.
Thanks so much too for showing a close-up of that cassette-door spring! Seeing its proper orientation solved the Rubik's Cube puzzle that I was trying to figure out! You've earned your pay for the year! Thanks again!
🇹🇷🇹🇷⭐️💯
Nicely done. Thank you for the helpful step-by-step guide-as well as the important reminder that we're only fixing it so it can then be copied.
A video 11 years old just helped me save some really cool memories. Thank you for the help.
THANK YOU!! You just saved my beloved duran duran tape 🧡
Very helpful, thank you! Just fixed a Disney World tape from 1994.
Fix my tape I was watching Siege 1998 vhs
Awesome thank u sir
Thank you so very much!
I'm merrily using a ClearClick device to digitize some 1980s videos when one broke on the rewind - full of memories from that year. 5 minutes with your video and ALL WAS SAVED! THANK YOU a million times over! Worth even seeing my 80's hair at graduation. :)
Thankyou thankyou thankyou.. Very useful video.. Fayaz.. India.. 7.9.2023.
thank you so much, was ripping old shows from the 90s and the tape was broken, you just saved my project :)
Thank you so much, you saved the only tape with my grandparents I have!
Do we really have to cut a piece of the VHS tape off? I'm afraid if I cut it, it will take away some of the video
ok, you can do this... you can do this... focus, Al
Buenas máquinas
Will this work on the smaller VHS tapes as well? I think they are called VHS-C
Thanks a lot!
Video title says video tape adapters but then later, there is only one.
Never use scotch or sellotape as overtime this can degrade and go stick causing damage to both tape and vcr
I used to repair them all the time in the 80’s, this a great refresher, thanks
There are adapters for MiniDV to DV. This isn't that helpful because most DV decks will take both DV and MiniDV cassettes.
Where does the very end attach too. I have all of the tape on one side. How do i get it back to the other side. Does the end attach somehweee ?
thant you very much for this practical presentation, i need how to do, because i ve got some trouble
