Using one to cut pressure treated for the 1st time today. These knuckleheads made it way more confusing than it needed to be. Thanks for the help
BET these would work well for shipping containers being used for storage
Probably but mice and rodents can get through them.
Thankyou It helped❤
Thank you for this video. I came here just for powestroke info! If you replace the coolant filter, please video it!
Why leave it open in summer?
Great help
Glad it was helpful thanks
Thanks!!!!
The saw marks would not be as pronounced if your stock were stabilized!
Probably so, but I think it’d be extremely difficult to stabilize a block of Dogwood due to its density
@@MostlyStuff I meant SECURE it to the sled or give it at least two points of contact.
You could have put a 1/4" bead of clear caulk on the back side of the vent frame before you slid it in. Easier way to seal it up. Great job!👍
I actually did go back and put caulk on the inside, but it won’t stick to the vinyl tried several kinds. None of them want to adhere. I’m sure if I scuffed the surface and cleaned it with alcohol it would help.
Wow, I need one. Thank you for showing this in action on a deck
Thanks. I have this saw and was trying to figure this out but all videos said to use a key. That is for cabinet level sawstop obviously or contractor. Not jobsite. Thanks!
Mine is stuck!!!
Spray a lot of penetrating oil on front and back of it and let it sit for a few hours, but some of them do get stuck where they’re quite a bear to get loose
Greazzed?
Very helpful straight to the point saw everything I need to do thank you sir!
Do you still wax the ends on pieces that small, or just put them in the Tupperware? Also, is the Tupperware sealed, and do you still put wood shavings in with log?
I always wax the ends even on smaller pieces with Dogwood. Other woods probably don’t need it, but this stuff will crack and split and twist if you don’t dry it very slowly. I have also tried vacuum drying and microwave drying both of which caused more cracking than I could deal with. I try to put it in containers that have snug lids but still allow for some amount of airflow as the temperature and air pressure changes around them. Typically I use these clear plastic tubs that have loose fitting lids or put them in a larger 27 gallon tote again that has a non-airtight lid on it. Used sawdust as a way to slow down the drying process, but it tends to slow it down too much. It usually still takes a minimum year or two to dry most of the Dogwood that I work with.
What a great answer. I've got some freshly cut dogwood that I'd like to turn into a nice quarterstaff later on down the road. Any additional recommendations?
If you’re trying to dry a long piece of dogwood, you can put it inside of a PVC pipe with caps on the end and a couple of holes drilled in the pipe to allow the moisture out slowly. Even with the slow drying process longer pieces are still going to deform a fair bit, but may not crack
They make a special tool for the vacuum bearing. Highly recommend doing manual lockout the vacuum was noted to engage and not my truck destroyed that bearing and ruined the teeth on that outside yoke to its failure. Another thing to note is on Excursion that axle is a Dana 50 not a 60 axle so it won’t mesh or make it pass the inner seal as well.
Thanks for sharing. I am constantly collecting new tools.
Hey dude, I just bought a DS322 and am using 3” screws with it and can not figure out how to set it to drive the screw all the way in. On the 3” setting it only drives the screw in about 2”. If I set the slide to 1” it will drive the screw all the way but defeats the purpose of the auto loading strip because the screw wobbles all over the place. Am I missing something simple to make this thing work correctly?? I was on the phone with senco’s tech support and they were baffled.
I’ll have to pull mine out of the case later and see if I can figure that out with you. I didn’t use many 3 inch screws in mine but when I did, I don’t recall it giving me trouble like that. Kind of sounds like a defective tool to me.
Good video but they don't all come out that easy. Some might try drilling a series of holes around the perimeter of the seal if you've pryed on it for a while with no luck
Might also try applying a lot of penetrating oil before prying. I do understand, though, that some of these are severely rusted in and are going to give a lot more of a fight than others
I have cold storage under my front porch. Which has two vents. Would these type vents be good for that?
Essentially, these vents are designed so that they close in cold weather to prevent the pipes on your home freezing and they open back up when the weather warms up. Not sure if this would work. Since you mentioned it’s cold storage. These are intended to keep the temperature warm under your home, but also allow ventilation when the temperature is warm enough not to worry about Freezing
I did pretty much the same design but made from mdf, cut on the badsaw and laminated together. I tapped into the semicircular aluminum frame for a more secure attachment, allowing me to also move the fence as I want. Also added a port on each side with a plug so that I can make miters without removing the dust shroud. Also, taping up the gaps beneath the throat plate, and adding a zero clearance throat plate helps SO much. If I were to do it again, I'd definitely go the bucket route!
Sounds nice. I’m redesigning this one to be able to collect dust just as well whether doing push cuts or pull cuts
@@MostlyStuff yeah, your bucket solution is brilliant. The making it out of MDF was fun, but also a nightmare because it gets brittle when it's that thin and I ended up cracking it when tightening down the screws. I had three five gallon buckets sitting next to me while I was making it too 🤣
I am mortified that you are working with a bunch of plumbing parts on top of a sawstop table saw.
Love the saw!

We call it Kornoelje in the Netherlands( i live in the centre of the netherlands, a place where wood gets real compact) and it is a perfect woodtype for handles and holdvasts. Also as slabs (tiny slabs) and as scales for a fulltang knife. But that is the biggest one ive seen ever, here in this erea the government cuts down a lot of city parks and such to keep it young and lush. But i found out that dogwood is even tougher than iron in most cases. And its beautyfull to stain or to soke in oil.
Thank you. I will add that name to make it easier to find when I put new videos out. It is my favorite wood to work with.
OUTDOORS55 made a fantastic video on sharpening steels: What Do "Knife Sharpening" Honing Steels Actually Do? The summary is honing steel just straighten a curled burr, that shouldn't be there in the first place. An abrasive honing rod, diamond coated or ceramic - basically a sharpener in a honing rod form factor, which can reduce the burr that dulls the knives. Getting a way sharper result. Tho a kitchen life is "good enough job will do." Haha. So it's not like it matters much.
Your comments on how the previous u-joint was installed is why some people shouldn't touch tools or try to repair things. You did a great job.
Heart sank a little as I started to read your comment. Smiling at the finish though. Thank you.
I do realize this video is 3 years old and was probably made during the pandemic. One reason the blade cracked is wet wood. Wet wood or high Mc need lots of set in the teeth. Rk don’t have set and that’s what makes them a joinery blade.
You are correct on the blade use and construction. Thank you for the comment.
Can I ask you what the sliding table you have for doing those cuts? Very cool setup!!
I do need to make a follow up video on that. It was a set of angle iron tracks, and then grooved bearings attached to the underside of that wooden deck. it’s on my list of videos to make just haven’t had a chance yet. Thank you for your interest and watching the video
These are $17 at Lowe’s and $35 at Home Depot. I bought 11 to replace at my house last night.
Thanks for sharing with the community. I don’t recall if mine came from Lowe’s or Home Depot but I do recall that it was much cheaper at some of the stores than others even for the same brand
@@GraveyardDiesel both are Master Flow, exact same model. Home Depot was closer so I had them price match Lowe’s. Kinda crazy HD is selling the exact same product for twice as much. I had a quote from Cook’s Pest Control to replace them and they wanted $75 each installed. I’ll do it myself and keep that extra $600. Nice video, I was just looking for extra tips. I’ve put them in before but the existing ones are about 15 years old and not working properly.
What’s the best way to fill those holes between the can opening and the new led light edges?
They sell the wider flanges on Amazon and typically call them a recessed light goof ring. I have them on order but didn’t have them ready when I shot the video. I will probably make an update when I install those.
and here I'm cutting out LEDs to put the old style cans in 😂
Were you having trouble from the leds?
@@MostlyStuff yes, I just don't like the feel of them, especially when dimmed. The bigger problem is that after adding an inverter-based mini-split, the electrical noise from the mini-split is causing increased flickering in the LEDs. they already flickered somewhat, now the flicker a lot. incandescents work fine and can be dimmed way down. I am so tired of LEDs. getting rid of all of them. lighting is really de minimis as a fraction of a typical home's electrical usage. we should enjoy incandescent/halogen lights if that's what we like.
I have had a few non lighting issues with my mini-splits. It helps to have them on dedicated breakers.
I think this would have been a truly awesome video if you would have actually shown something1 being done. This is really just pointless. I needed to see the process, but this video shows nada, zilch, nothing, numero zero.
These do fail sometimes. To try to be safe, in the wintertime i cut thin cardboard pieces or thin plastic placemats to fit inside the plastic frames on the outside and tape them on with a few strips of clear tape.
I've got a leaking inner 4wd seal and the half axle wiggles bag. I bet the half axle seal is busted like yours. Also now I'll just replace that joint now that you mentioned it. Way cool. Thank you for this.
2016 f350 sotf not engaging what is ballpark price to replace these
Not sure. Hope you were able to get a better answer. Good luck
Do you know anything about the foundation vents that auto close when it gets hot to prevent fire? I live in northern CA where fire threatens us every year, and I'm trying to find an affordable solution to our old style vents. Thanks for the video!
I do not know anything about the fire rated foundation vents. Wish I could be more help on that one.
Oh my goodness. Life changer!!! Thank you!!!!

Awesome .. just watched your other video removing the axle .. thank u

I’ve heard that automatic vents can be unreliable. Is that true?
Just like most things anymore they can wear out and will need to be replaced eventually. I’ve not had any failures yet.
@@MostlyStuff how long have you had yours?

Well wish I found this before I ruined my vacuum seal! 😫
I first found this method from another CZcams contributor after I had also ruined a set of vacuum seals. They’re usually ruined from where anyway but it would’ve been nice to have the option to save them. Make sure you get the tool for setting the depth on your new vacuum seals if you haven’t already installed them.
@@robertcarter-realtor-fatho7722 Mind elaborating as to which tool is appropriate for this?
