Los Arribeños - 5th Annual WWU Latin American Forum 2024
Los Arribeños is a Mexican folk music group made up of a family of four, mother Susi, a psychologist by profession, father Don Primo, a hydraulic topographer engineer and their two children Valentina, a psychologist and Primo, a human resources administrator. The group was born in September 2014 in the city of Guanajuato with the intention of playing and sharing the music that its members learned with different friends and teachers from various places in the Mexican Nation, mainly, the Son Jarocho of southern Veracruz.
Part of the pleasure of performing this music is that, through it, Los Arribeños can share the stories that have been passed from generation to generation, and that have created a family, regional and national identity at the time they sing about themes everyday things such as gastronomy, drink, customs, magic, nature, love. Narratives that strengthen group ties and allow them to coincide, get to know each other and have points in common, the medium being music.
His international participations stand out at the University of Oregon, USA in 2021 and 2017 and the International Folklore Festival in Itakiry, Paraguay in 2017.

On the ancestral land of the Lummi and Nooksack Coast Salish tribes. the mouth Whatcom Creek sustained life for thousands of years with upwards of three hundred thousand annual Salmon. The mouth of Whatcom Creek was the first place to be settled in Whatcom County in the 1850s, what has followed has been massive environmental destruction and degradation of this beautiful lake-fed creek.
