I believe that Sherman did not burn those bridges to intrap the Negros following the march.. Why would he do that when he already said he could NOT feed them? The 5000 refugees did not meet their end because of Sherman. I believe it's being taken out of context! Sherman knew he had to break the will of the South and he did! All is fare in Love and War.. Maybe he left the Negros behind and burnt the bridges to tie up the c.s.a.? He needed to take care of his ARMY the followers may have been a hinderance...

He didn't ask for 200k troops. He simply stated facts on numbers of troops to hold, attack or concur as asked. He was never crazy. Of all published generals, he was the only one who consistently predicted what was eventually needed to end the war.

Planned and built in less than two years before power tools. Horse and buggy was king at the time. The man-made lakes, waterways and miles of sidewalks required permanent retaining walls to be built. The museum that stands till this day would take years to plan and build whether safety rules or unions existed or not. The idea that the 700+ acres of land clearing, plumbing and electrical work could all be done in such a short time is comical given Chicago winters. The level of craftsmanship in all the buildings, statues, etc., would impress Michelangelo even if the buildings were made out of paper mâché. Lastly, there is no explanation as to how the materials needed were gathered, shipped and stored. The whole narrative simply contradicts all notions of critical thinking.

My take is that free electricity is good. Raise tax by like 10% and give free electricity. electric cars would become the meta for sure, not needing fuel cars at all. Many people will invest thier time on electric use more then fuel, who knows, a rocket that will fly with electric instead of burning 100s of gallon of fuels. but yea, having too much electric on our blue planet could created immensively high static on the Atmosphere, imagine all irons slowly getting magnetic overtime XD.

That's a misnomer "March to the Sea". It was a war to the sea, and he had much resistance the entire way. When he burned the railroads, it almost cost him his position. The railroads were owned by northern companies. He also was invited to Atlanta in the late 1800s to be a dignitary for Atlanta's World Agricultural Fair. He commented that the rebuilt Atlanta was greater than it ever was. There is so much misinformation after the Civil War that we never knew General Johnston was a poll bearer for both General Grant's funeral and General Sherman's funeral. He refused to wear a hat during Sherman's funeral in respect for General Sherman, and it rained terribly. Johnston contracted pneumonia and died thirty days later.
