From Brussels midi station you could reach on foot some nicer or more major tourist highlights, or you could have done so by taking the metro or having left the train in Brussels central station. Instead you opted for a low key visit to this southern part of Brussels which many tourists would have skipped. No problem, the place had its own charm, depending on your preferences. There is a more circular oriented metroline, stopping at Brussels midi, and also a more directundergoind tramline that goes straight nortn from Brussels midi. This underground tramline is being reconstructed with new stations and a different alignment in this southern part. This project is a bit too ambitous for the Brussels budget, so work is not afvancing that fast, but it does explain plenty of the construction sites close to Brussels midi. The central part will open sooner, but the whole ‘line 3’ project will take to 2032-2034.
