Cancer’s Impact on Loved Ones: My Story
In this season finale I asked my best friend, Sierra, to interview me on my experience during my mom's cancer journey. My mom was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer in July 2022 and I dropped everything to move home to Bermuda to be with her and the family during this time.
As we begin a new year, my mom rings the end of treatment bell and I pause to reflect on the journey we wen't through to get to this moment. This is a story of heart ache, hope and how powerful a positive mind set is.

It's the daily routine that's hard. Especially when outsiders don't realize how they are because he pulls off being fine which he can do for short times. We don't have money for help. He would run away or get kicked out of any place he was put.

WOW! I feel like I just watched a scary Hallowe’en movie! Thank God that it just wasn’t happening to you Jess. Very disturbing and emotionally affecting your lives. That experience with Sam was definitely a life lesson on how to be more conscious of your gut feelings and standing back a bit and taking your time to read new people around you. Yes you can have empathy for someone who is mentally unwell, but when you are living in that person’s space, it can be very scary and dangerous. Great podcast and thanks for sharing.

I literally had to get up and write down all of Terry’s truths. Probably one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard. I found him profound and inspirational. I have take in everything that he said. What an eye-opener. I have let my mind and fears control me all my life. Really, a lot of food for thought. I went and immediately ordered his book. Can’t wait to to read it.

What an excellent interview. Nathan’s life experience was definitely sad. The many times he tried to fight his demons shows the strength and perseverance that he had to fight opioid addiction. He should be very proud of his new life journey and I wish him all the very best.

Great topic and I have full respect for any man or woman that has the conviction to not have children for all the reasons that Jess says. No one should ever feel ashamed of that decision. I find there are too many people in this world that have children that never should’ve had children. Jess was right when she said it could be very damaging to a child that is brought into this world growing up and feeling that they were really not wanted . Thanks Jess for covering this subject. And! it is so inappropriate to ask a woman “When are you going to settle down and get married” and “When are you going to have a baby”.

I loved listening to Aaron. He was so much fun and upbeat . What great influences his parents were to him to help him grow and thrive. He has such a great personality. His advice to other people living on the spectrum was so encouraging and came from 27 years of living through it. Thanks Jess l definitely left this podcast with more understanding of people living on the spectrum.
