It wasnt because of the Steam Engine that the town was founded. Water was in abundasnce and Las Vegas was nearly halfway between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles and the Ice House was built so that they could ship Vegetables in the summer months...

Las Vegas DID NOT STALL During the 1980s. Total Myth. From 1986 to 1989 MANY of the Hotels on the Strip ADDED New Guestroom Towers. Each guestroom tower usually had between 800 to 1,200 rooms.

So many of the names that were mentioned are long gone, most having crashed and burned after short careers. Hard to stay relevant in Las Vegas, no matter what industry you are in.
