I am a video game developer, mostly known for creating Fallout. I plan to use this channel to tell stories about game development, including stories about design, programming, team building, working for development companies, pitching to game publishers, and even a few stories about my short stint as a co-owner of a company, Troika Games. I have been doing this for more than forty years, so I have a lot of stories to tell.
I also eat a lot of dark chocolate.

Maybe I’ll add an Abbey to my Fallout 76 or Fallout 4 play through, in your honor.
Makes me think of H.G. Wells' Time Machine
I feel like your mom needs her own video at this point.
Happy Birthday Abby!
Unironically one of the best video game designers of my generation is giving some of the best ttrpg game advice as well.
Candy looks like my dog so cute.
Happy birthday Abby
It really is quite an interesting perspective because like so many other commenters here I loved the one point system because of how much you could do with it and how you always felt like every level was its own reward. I can see why it felt like a bad decision but ultimately getting some sort of reward every level while still building up to that final spell or some other such goal is something I found to be very fun as a player. Overall despite it's many flaws the game turned out to be one of if not my favorite CRPGs so it's fascinating that its a game that's haunted you for so long despite this. I suppose the sales were what was important at the time though and I understand that.
NO I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO DESTINY 2 U CANT MAKE ME T-T
touchy subjects drive controversy but also draw players to mature conversations. both can create conflicts but they don’t have to.
Happy Friday Tim! Taking my dog to the beach is one of my favorites activities
This the funniest video I've seen on this channel by far. It's also very relatable. I sure hope nobody's being weird about it in the comments, though.
"We would run around with them on our heads" Ah so now we know where the thing with odd hats has come from! ;)
Beautiful reflection. Thank you for sharing!
Have you ever talked about Wasteland 3 Tho? Or will you ever talk about it? (ik you don't like to "review" games but I'm genuinely curious to see your thoughts on it. Cuz to me Wasteland 3 felt like OG fallout but brought to a more modern time)
I may be a game dev myself but unironically this is my favorite topic of any of your videos thusfar, my mom has always been the same way with never being able to say no to helping animals & that rubbed off on me big time. I actually volunteer for wildlife rehabilitation in my free time, it's really fulfilling work!
The best mod I've ever played is DayZ, a mod of ARMA.
The LLM AI npcs is definitely something i'm looking forward to.
14:24 is the ONLY register on my gaydar through all of your videos, haha, regarding the Provincetown/Plymouth Rock bit. Man, you hid it well at least. I'm glad things have come so far and this isn't something you need to worry about as much anymore. It sounds like the 90s and 00's sorted things out.
You have your mother’s smile.
The souls series messed up by giving you a shield early on and teaching you to hide behind it. Combined with piling up heavy armor to avoid random deaths (which gives you fat rolls) a person comes to think the least optimal way to play is the correct way, and then works on getting better at that way of doing it. Bloodborne teaches you how to play the souls series by removing the shield and giving you incentive to be aggressive and less methodical. Before that people figured it out through that sort of mind melding thing that happens at 100+’hours of playing any game, which I think is where the get good thing came from. It wasn’t technically right, and I think most people just liked saying the thing 😮 I wrote this myself
I want to thank you dearly from the bottom of my SOUL for Fallout. The first two will forever be my favorite IP.
NOT A VIP?! RIOT!
"Pinchy was found later ... " so casual XD... I loled hard
"Gizmo is named after a skunk" is a great piece of fallout trivia
Tim do you have any advice for a young man in his early 20s struggling to find out what to do with life? I finished highschool a few years ago and I feel stuck. I didn’t go to college and I still live with my parents. Any advice bro?
I want this man to be my new grandfather
Disappointing lack of unintentional dog cameo in the glass reflection...
Tim might be a Disney princess, with all these animals. My family also took care of a lot of neighborhood animals over the years.
That Arcanum story hit hard.
Happy birthday Abby!
Friday is now officially Fun Day
Have I reached Gamer enlightenment? I’ve never been turned off from a game for any surface level reason, I find reasons to like any game in any genre and always push through to the end to give it a fair chance. XD there’s only one game in the entire history my gaming experience that I had to stop playing because it pissed me off and I couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong. I definitely Think I’m in the super minority of being able to enjoy every or any type of game though. Love you and your videos, Tim ! :D*
Hi Tim! I was wondering if you could go over why Fallout ended up losing the GURPS licence? I think you touched upon it in a few other videos, but I might have missed it!
Thankyou for the warning at the beginning :)
How do those pet stores even work? Are they owned by breeders or do they just give platform to breeders? Or it's some lab breeding industry distopia ? I've never had a pet from store, though I don't believe we even have such stores here, if you don't get a dog from shelter to street then only from breeders or maybe "bird market" but it's just a centralized place where breeders can go.
I am compulsively inquisitive, I question everything. Touchy subjects feel irresistibly interesting to me and that makes me really want to touch it and know what it feels like to touch it. 👇Touchy subject to touch subjectively below for you and I to touch together subjectively👇 👇 Bigotry. It makes no sense, solves no problems for anyone, anywhere, at anytime, instead doing the exact opposite, creating problems where none were needed, wanted or existed. The only use Bigotry has is as the butt of a joke about how bigotry makes no sense, solves no problems for anyone, anywhere, at anytime, instead doing the exact opposite, creating problems where none were needed, wanted or existed. 👆
My mom is a huge animal lover too and I'm eternally grateful she passed that on to me. 😊 Life would be so barren without animals. ps: I want to know which state bans skunks from entry 😂 pps: never knew you were local to the DC area! I've been in Arlington for most my life
Can you please go to Bethesda and help them convert the assets from fallout 1 and 2 so we can get an official remake you said yourself that the sprites were originally made from clay
Loved this video
How sweet! My first dog I adopted as an adult passed away at ten years old last month. What a great dog! He was a gorgeous black German Shepherd with a big heart and an endless zest for life. We played fetch together every day until the last days of his life, even when it became difficult for him to move. He was the best friend I ever had, and I miss him terribly. Nothing but love. ❤
14:47 Oh silly Tim, filming on April 26 and releasing on June 14 hehe :)
I love the publishers going out decrying piracy claiming that they're stealing money from the developers. Meanwhile the developers are over here saying "I don't give a shit about piracy. I get such a tiny sliver of the difference in sales, I wasn't getting that money anyway." Support developers, not publishers. You can't steal from a corporation. That's called reclamation.
Lock-picking into the Brotherhood bunker in Fallout causes everyone inside to assume you retrieved the holotape (or whatever it was) from the Glow. You have to get the electronic lock-pick from Loxley first.
The topic of generational star ship is described in two books: Nonstop by Brian Aldis and Orphants of the Sky by R.A. Heinlein. The main plot is how the occupants of the giant ship forget over the generations that they are actually a space crew. Might be interesting to see this theme reworked as a Fallout theme.
Hey Tim, important question: which do you prefer, dogs or cats?
A house without animals is just a building; the animals make it a home.
Somewhere there is an alternate reality where Fallout had a pet alligator named Suitcase instead of us getting Dogmeat. PS. Happy Birthday Abby!
Pets are family. Period.
I love your videos, Cain! Love Fallout brother!
