Baron Ambrosia
Registrace 6. 09. 2007
Baron Ambrosia is the alter ego of Bronx-based underground filmmaker Justin Fornal. The character is a self-proclaimed "quaffer of culinary consciousness" and travels around New York City, mostly in The Bronx, documenting various ethnic cultures and their indigenous cuisines, represented typically by the small food establishments (including restaurants, food trucks, street vendors, and grocery stores) he visits. Baron Ambrosia has appeared in Fornal's self-produced video podcast Underbelly NYC and starred in the public-access television cable TV channel BronxNet's Bronx Flavor. He is currently the host of the show "The Culinary Adventures of Baron Ambrosia" on the Cooking Channel. In 2012, Fornal won a New York Emmy (best on-camera talent: performer/narrator) for his portrayal of Baron Ambrosia.

As someone who grew up in an Indian Residential School as a girl, I am so happy to hear that their are still people who are living from the land as the Creator has intended for it to be lived upon. Up here in 🇨🇦, the government is still handing over our virgin lands to developer friends whenever the mood for money takes them over. So hang tight to what you've got, 'cause once it's gone, there's no bringing it back. And thank you for continuing to hold on to these values, and living this lifestyle. You are helping to preserve Turtle Island in its original state. ✌🏽🧓🏽 By the way, the schools (and other atrocities) have been responsible for annihilating my father's Traditional Indigenous language of his people, because we were the ones that met with the new comers first of all. Take good care. 😊🧓🏽✌🏽

Thank you for this information.
I love to visit just to eat the food and church service would be good for me to
I love this. My Daddy taught us about the Gullah Geechees when I was very young. I would listen intently and feel such a connection to these people. We took annual trips to the beach as a family, and there was one particular location we would pass by and he would say, " Those are the Gullah people in our lineage." The people would be on their front porches and wave at us as we slowly drove by. I always wanted Dad to stop so I could go into these people's house's and see how they lived. Call it being intrigued.

What about wadmalaw Island?
proud Beaufort Gal!!!!
There needs to be a balance. If you wanna build on gullah land, then pay the tax
It's suppression. It's discriminatory. It's time to act.
enjoyed this interview with Jazzy
Many Gullah Geechee lands are threatened by annual tax sales, the most recent of which was Oct 5, 2020. The community is working hard to raise funds to redeem the land - must be done within 12 months. Many of these areas are underserved with residents in low income professions and unaware of agricultural tax exemptions available. See more here www.islandpacket.com/news/local/article245917760.html. There is also a GoFundMe www.gofundme.com/f/panafricanfamilyem
Just found out my grand parents are from this Island. I gotta go over there and see it. My dad kept it a secret. He never told me about it. So it's a bit of a mystery. On my mothers side we are Jamaican. Both sides have "jewish" beliefs. I really have some work to do.
Fast forward the community is being pushed out to build a resort and golf course, it’s so sad. 🙁
I read about the tax sale of Gullah Lands Oct 5, 2020 but also that the property owners have 366 days to pay back taxes and redeem the land. Here is the GoFundMe page. www.gofundme.com/f/panafricanfamilyem
Beautiful culture and the desire to preserve!
I've now come to realise... the gullah language is almost identical to guyanese and carribean injun dialect
Right!? I’m from St. Kitts and I can understand her!
We have the same roots! 🖤💙💚💛
Yes, I'm a Guyanese and I understood her.

To my Gullah/Geechees… The name Gullah is in the Strong’s Concordance Bible dictionary as a Hebrew name. Look in the Hebrew Language section on page 1353 and you can see for yourselves. Yah’ll (we) are Hebrews. Our names were not mis-pronounced as Angola or Golas although some of our ancestors were from there. The Spanish and English called us Gullah or GuYah (In spanish the LL makes a Y sound) because they knew who we were. Geechees are the Yamasee or Yahmassee (Yah) (Yahweh) who were also Hebrews and were called (Maroons, Guale, Yamacraw, Creek Aborigines) by the Spanish. Cum-by-Yah, Ah-ha-Yah, We-Ben-Yah (We Son of Yah), Hallelu-Yah.
This brings me a whole new perspective on cultural reservation, excellent video
I just love this lady energy 🥰
I wish we had the same thoughts on cigarettes as we do on canned food.
@Beautiful mil 2:30 into the video. That's what i'm talkin about. She's talkin about how things impact peoples health then they go to a guy with a cigarette in his mouth.

My family on my father's side is gullah geechee from the islands
Somethin tells me this song isnt about video games.
I know of my great grandparents (on both sides) being from Americus and Smithville GA and I just be wondering if the were at least influenced by the Gullah/Geechee cuz they talked like this. That part of Georgia isn’t the gullah/geechee corridor but maybe there’s influence💪🏾
i live in ga my mom side of the family are temne from sierra leone now i know i have connection with the gullah geechee family
This Quarantine got me down to the Gullah Geechi Islands sector of CZcams ❤

My dad always said he was Geechie. This is interesting, I'm now going to do some research.
I am from the Bahamas and it is great to hear you speak - it is just like us - We speak the same way - I have to visit your island sometime - I do hope you can hold on to your culture and be sure to pass it down to the children and impress on them the importance-
You don't sound like them
I'm from the Charleston area! I've also visited the brother's and sister's in the Bahamas also. We are the same people via Africa.
