This channel was created to share cute videos of my hedgehog. Unfortunately, Mr Hedgie died in 2020, shortly after the beginning of the pandemic. I will leave the videos here to enjoy and remember him! Thank you all for watching and subscribing!

The reality of owning a sassy hedgehog - lots of hissing
This is a quick look into owning a sassy hedgehog. The thing is, a lot of them are. This video was taken around six months after I got my hedgehog. I was still in the process of taming him, getting him used to be held by me.
As you can see, he is hissing a lot, but he is not curling up into a ball. He does bristle his spines, however they quickly get flat on his back again, as he is not scared but kind of annoyed by me. He wants to explore and I'm in his way.
It's a risk to take when adopting a hedgehog, not all of them are affectionate and some won't let you pet them. Some will always curl up into a ball when you approach them. For me, it was a little bit of everything. He did curl up into a ball sometimes, but not often. He would hiss at me and bristle his spines most of the time. But I also had wonderful moments like in my spa videos, where he was completely relaxed and let me pet his belly.

Bonding with Mr Hedgie, no editing. It's not always easy with hedgehogs. I tried to take him out of his cage regularly to get him used to being handled. I waited late in the evenings to not mess with his sleeping cycles (here, it was around 11 pm). As they don't see well, they relay on their sens of smell a lot, so I tried to put my finger slowly close to his nose not to spook him. He eventuall...

Mr Hedgie was very calm at this point and uncurled really easilly, quickly showing me his pretty paws before heading off on his next exploration.

Well, there goes my couch... Mr Hedgie is destroying it, look at his sharp teeth! But he's so cute, I can't stop him. What happens at the end with the foam in its mouth is called "self-anointing", a mysterious behaviour that is linked with new smells. It's cute and weird, totally normal for this little guy.

I found an unpublished video of Mr Hedgie! Cute as always, a little shy, showing off its tongue. This video must have been taken right after its bath, looking at those nice clean paws. Hedgehogs have a habit of pooping while running in their wheel, so they need a foot bath almost daily. Thanks for still being on this channel, I love you all!

I found this old video of my beloved Mr Hedgie, I totally forgot about it. He explores a bit, and goes too close to the edge for my liking, so I moved my arm to protect him from a fall. But as always, any movement nearby scares him a little, hence the cute... I mean ferocious sounds!

Just give him a chili dog, I heard somewhere that Hedgehog’s love those.
Some of them bite or ball up so tightly that you can't touch them.

your hedgehog hisses alot, but is still able to be calmed down, mine just balls up EVERYTIME i pick her up and stays balled up for literal hours if im holding her and only unballs when i let her down.
Yeah, it's really not easy to get their trust. I don't know why, but the best moments I had with him was during and after his baths
