He's good on the river.. Rivers are always harder to deliver fish to camera.. the water is on the move, the angler is static.. he can only guess and use rivercraft and experience to work out where the fish (one or more - can be).. It's a good video.. as to whether he really slept in the car on a film shoot.. meh..

Uploaded here for preservation, with thanks to Mike and Steve (We last ventured forth together to Lake Nasser for Nile Perch).. but this was 1993; when very few "amateur" fishy film makers were around.. Single camcorder.. with no sponsors or product promotions.. how refreshing and, back then, similar to the ethic of Clean River Fishing. Uprezzed as best as I can for now for Clean River Fishing.

He catches on both the River Teme and the River Severn, with great techniques for this chosen quarry still valid today even though it is now 26 years old! He went on to have a great armchair angling TV career.. and now retired, he's devoted to taking care of his family. Still throws a line out though! Shore fishing is an even harder and sadder experience 20_ years later..
I don't know why Andy had to lie and mislead people with his captures and weights, he was good enough he didn't need to lie, was such a shame. Thanks for posting btw Liam, I had loads of Clean River fishing videos back in the good ol daze!
He also lied to me as a director about stupid personal stuff.. like wife having cancer.. and his grandmother must have died at least four times. It was enough to make me not only make the decision to stop working with him, but I sold all the content I'd made with him to Hinders. I only own THIS title because it was made for Clean River before I took it over. Wasted. He was a good angler.. even if he looks like a carp on film..
With today prices it would fish for a tenner ! 😂

Oh the days of Crutchy and Craddocks. The Carp Strikes Back by hutchy was a belting read. Carp Fever by Maddocks on the other hand had a 12 step pictorial step by step sequence "how to strike a carp from the lying down position"! Pure gold..

Lots has changed over the years, but the basics are still the same! Seeing the lead arrangement I guess lead clips weren't even a thing. Popular anglers now talk about running leads like it's the new rig mechanic when it was used thirty years ago
This film as well as John Wilson got me hooked on carp fishing as a kid. I've looked for this film for years the breakfast maddocks makes always stuck in memory 😂 bacon sausage burgers eggs onions muchrooms etc etc 😂

Thank you for kind words.. I made MOST of the titles except the early oldies.. and I own Clean River.. Cold Water Carping was a chilly shoot! As for subscribers.. despite the sheer amount of titles and anglers out there.. most are a bit old now.. (the titles AND the anglers).. and I treat this channel as a preservation and legacy set up really. I have finished making new fishing videos and the new generations have their OWN new angling heroes with the product splattered sponsored "productions" which don't get my enthusiam at all. I prefer the old fashioned approach. :-) So.. tight lines and all the best... glad you are enjoying the channel.. Liam Dale

Because "alledged" is a funnier story.. 30 YEARS after the event. The reputation of KM was long ago ruined by other acts.

Where is his accent from? I dont fish but can't stop warching his stuff on YT because of her clear, erudite, calm and mellifluous presentation style. Wonder if the haircut and Golf are both still going strong.

Great video Liam. I remember these chaps from the old Tony's Tackle Open down in Eastbourne in the early 90's. Great characters and very fond memories. I caught some lovely fish in Kent, back then. There were so many innovative tackle specialists that are household names for anglers now. The late Ian Golds actually talked me into one of those 6ft aluminum tripods back then in Tony's shop, that I still use today. An excellent piece of kit, virtually unbreakable.

Ce qui n'est pas une rumeur c'est qu'ils ont pillé des milliers de gros poissons des lacs et rivières Française, et ça pendant des années pour les revendre aux "lacs" et étangs privés en Angleterre. Ils les ont revendu une fortune. Mais un jour la douane les a chopé !!! Ça a fait grand bruit à l'époque, après ça la marque KM était finie. Dommage cette attitude de la part de ces immenses pêcheurs qui étaient des pionners du "carp fishing" . Une autre marque Anglaise pionnière a été plus maligne...et a acheté directement un lac en France, et a peuplé sont lac en gros poissons directement en se servant dans le domaine public Français comme cela plus de problème avec la douane...mais chut il ne faut pas en parler...mais nous les anciens, on oublie pas..
Kevin Maddocks a détruit son héritage de carpe... et a complètement perturbé pour toujours l'équilibre de la carpe au Royaume-Uni...
Ah the good old days of KGB rods pods and the “ king Carp” rig they sold in the shop. Loved making my old monkey climbers out of BIC biros. Trouble with that pod was the push fit plastic sockets wore quickly so the legs then just fell off…not good fishing off the famous pontoon swim. What a place though. I learned something on each annual trip, there was incredible ingenuity and rapid rig development going on. But we had to make our own stuff, just too easy now with everything off the shelf. A much better time!😊
