No-Dig Potatoes Reveal - Continuation of the experiment started in spring
zhlédnutí 46KPřed 7 lety
So it is time to finalize the no-dig experiment and see the results. I must say that the yield was the same between potatoes planted 6inch under the soil level and the one which were on top of the soil and just covered with horse manure. The biggest difference is in soil disturbance, the no-dig method kept soil structure pretty much untouched so I will definitely try to use this method again in...

    using horse mature. does that encourage weed growth. from what i have heard. since horses eat everything, that weed seed dont get processed in the stomach and pooped out. Unlike cow mature the weed seeds get processed and you get no weed seed at all. is this true?

    So you cover beds late autumn then by spring you uncover them with no weeds and plant into it or you do the stale seed bed method before planting? Do many weeds coming back throughout the growing season?

    How long can we cover it before we plant it?

    • @RafsKitchenGardenChannel
      @RafsKitchenGardenChannel Před 2 lety

      Hi Sophia, I would say as long as you like, the longer it's covered the more weeds will grow (especially if the weather becomes warmer) and effectively will be cleared which can be done on the same day that you do your first sowing or seedling transplanting in this bad.

  • @terrykingsallotmentgardening

    I don't paint my would and I prefer to line my beds with plastic and let the wood breath. I mulched my blueberries with conifer chips and they didn't like it. Looking forward to seeing how they do and the bed is rustic like it should be on an allotment Raff. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
