8:15 The shotgun's spread is broken. People argue about this all the time, but looking at the development of the game, in the early versions of the game the shotgun had a fairly tight, consistent spread. In the release version they purposely broke the spread, made it too wide, and upped the RNG of the pattern. Sometimes, you'll get lucky and it comes out tight and can one-hit a zombie into a gib-state, other times 70% of the pellets will go wide and seem to go "around" the target, even at a close-medium range. It effectively turns the Doom 3 shotgun into a melee-range weapon. You have to put the shotgun into the demons to ensure hits. It also seems, due to some jank with the hitboxes, that hitting them in the legs is the optimal approach. Sadly, as much as I love the design and atmosphere of Doom 3, the combat is one of the places where id dropped the ball in a few ways. I absolutely *hate* the screen shake bullshit. It makes getting hit annoying more than anything, especially when it interupts your shots. Between the hit shake, the RNG of the shotgun, the sound effects on the workhorse weapons being wimpy... It's a very mixed bag.

Doom 3, often called the black sheep of the family. I actually prefer it in many ways to Doom Eternal. I'm of the old school, I prefer my Doomguy as the everyman space marine who puts his boot to the devil's throat. The more Die Hardy, John McClane-esque, version.
