U hit it on the nail! Halloween unlike it’s counterparts has movies in each decade since 78. This allowed Michael/Halloween to be able to adapt to modern times. I actually think this benefited the franchise tbh. I loved Halloween 18 & Halloween Kills. Also some of the trilogy hate wasn’t only from Halloween fans it was from a few fanboys of other franchises who were kinda jealous … just gonna leave it at that.

The point about every scene Jake appears in being played straight lead me to an interesting realization. Jake serves as the ultimate foil to Rango in that he carries with him a dose of reality in his writing, visual design, cinematography, etc. He dispels the fantasy that Rango had propped himself up on and thought of as his only advantage. And so naturally the only way to defeat Jake is to make the act... no longer an act, which just so happens to be the final piece of the puzzle: the final step in Rango's character arc.

Great video! Huge Halloween fan here and I also still don’t have the words to explain why I fell in love with Michael. It’s just something about the character that works so well as a slander villain. The music. The mask. The walk. His mannerism. Michael to me is like a Dracula or Frankenstein at this point. Just pure EVIL with no rhyme or reason. 🎃🔪

Maybe he doesn't kill Busta as fake Michael Myers in order to have a decoy and keep everyone confused and thinking it's not real, allowing him to more effectively maneuver within any given situation.

Taking off the mask in H20 would do nothing. Lori got a glimpse of Michael once 20 years prior. She would have no clue what his face looked like vs. Someone else's face. Save for maybe the messed up eye. (Which clearly isn't present in h20 anyway, you can see both of Michael's eyes through the mask.

Curse is better than ends and revenge....maybe even kills. The odd mask in the school scene in 4 is because they had to do re-shoots, had to order another mask and didn't have time/budget to do all of the alterations.

When I was about 6 or 7, I was sitting on my grandmothers couch, bored as hell and just wanting to go home. While my grandma was flipping through the channel she paused and put the remote down to watch the re run of a movie. Me with nothing better to do, Watched the masterpiece, Who Framed Roger Rabbit my favorite movie until the end of time.

I think I'll be checking out The Red Shoes and Madam Web 🤔 Thank you for all the recommendations 😄

The original Halloween 2 will always be the better sequel

Halloween 2 was epic. I have no issues with the story plot with Michael and Laurie being related. I think it still doesn’t take away from his original nature from the first movie. But it makes sense in the first movie why he’d go after Laurie. It works for me. H3 though is TERRIBLE

I remember years ago, the first time I watched Rango, it was me and my (at the time) 3 year old nephew. I was baby sitting him and he didn't want to watch any of his usual stuff (He's the type to enjoy one thing for awhile then move on) and I decided to put on Rango. Both of us were completely absorbed, to the point he actually got mad when I got up to make him some lunch halfway through the movie because he didn't want me to miss anything. 'Make me a PB&J after Rango beats the big snake guy!' he said!

The addition of the family plot is what really hurt the series. I'm happy im not the only one who felt that way. The original film established the fear of the unknown. The Shape is way more frightening where no one is safe and not chained down. The latest trilogy though has its problems actually lives up to Carpenters original vision. Many of the ideas from previous films are revisited and honestly does a better job. You cant beat the original. But my top picks are the first film, 2018, Kills and ends. Halloween 2 and 4 are still good, and without the family plotline could stand as oneshot stories. The series is far from perfect. But its simplicity, music and atmosphere really sell it for me.

Not a movie villain, but TV. THANATOS from Gargoyles! Would love an exploration of him. ❤

i think the decision to make rango a chameleon was a phenomenal one. it outwardly displays his search for identity making his transformation at the end of the movie feel earned and real and gritty. i adore this movie.

Rango is and more than likely always will be my favorite movie

I took my future wife to the drive-in for a date, and the movie we going to see had already started and we didn't want to wait for the next showing so we opted to see Rango with no idea what we were in for. In a hot, dusty, drive-in lot in Phoenix, we felt like we just another one of the townsfolk. This is truly a great movie!

I love this film mostly because of bill nighy. His role as Davy jones AND rattle snake Jake was hella impressive and I love it

I reall enjoyed both these retrospectives. Really well dissected!

What I like about this is how Rango progressively become a legend. He was a nobody. A wannabe hero who is actually nothing but a loser. Yet in the end, he became somebody. A legend, even earned the respect of another legend.

Peak western was peak western

Western wasn't "left behind" it was closed out when Eastwood made "Unforgiven". I guess a lot of people were too shallow to get it. The entire gunslinger motif was shot dead and buried right after the outhouse scene. What's left and what's been left behind is movies about the work it took to settle the west. People breaking themselves to build a dream only to see it burned by Indians or blown away by a tornado.

Yeah no shit, the matrix is scifi, this doesn't need to be said at all.
