BAE Systems will supply an additional 20 CV90 Mjölner mortar systems to the Swedish Army
Company BAE Systems has received a contract modification from the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) to build an additional 20 CV90 Mjölner mortar systems .
The approximately US$30 million contract was awarded to BAE Systems Sweden's joint venture, HB Utveckling AB, which combines BAE Systems' Hägglunds and Bofors production capabilities.
Production of the mortar carriers will be carried out from the BAE Systems Hägglunds manufacturing facility in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.
The original contract for 40 CV90 Mjölner systems was awarded back in 2016, and system deliveries started in 2019 and were completed on time for 2020.
Furthermore, in February 2022, FMV awarded the first follow-on contract for an additional 20 systems, as well as an upgrade of the 40 systems already in service, integrating the new C4I LSS Mark system .

I love this aircraft! It would wonderful if China would make a similar design (new wings and retractable landing gears) but slightly smaller and ONE engine to compete in a single engine 9-11 seater market with Cessna Grand Caravan, Kodiak 100-900, GA8 Airvan, GA10 Airvan, P-750 XSTOL, Pilatus, BTM 600, etc.

We could have at least one unit of the Kilo Class attack submarine in the naval fleet, of the Philippine Navy, if everything would go well and with no hustle, but sadly because the U.S are keep on meddling and interfering upon the Philippine government foreign and external affairs upon the Philippine foreign constituents most especially to Russia this would no longer happen anymore. Such another opportunity once again goes to nothing.

We must see the economic, technological and military “power” of Russia in perspective. Russia is indeed a huge country in square km, but only has 144 million inhabitants ( Mexico 128 million, Japan 123 million). This is about 30% of USA or Eurozone. The GDP of Russia however is only 4% of the GDP of the Eurozone + USA, this is equal to the GDP of the small countries Belgium + Netherlands. And less than the GDP of the state of California. Relatively (per capita) the GDP of Russia is very low. Beside that the economy of Russia has signs of a 3th world economy. Half of the income is coming from oil & gas. Based on this, Russia isn’t a world power. And for sure, it isn’t a economic power. This is the reason they can’t build up and maintain a big army. The army they already have is far beyond normal proportions in relation to their GDP. This hurts their budgets and prosperity permanently. In this perspective, Russia is a dictatorship with a huge inferiority complex and dangerous megalomaniac ambitions. The path they chose will be their downfall.
