Very interesting how the times changed. Today it would have been considered rude to play while the student is tuning. In many cases the master classes presume to be a teaching tool-But in fact they are a way for the professor to shine, on the expense of the student

Music performance is comprised of three building blocks: Intonation, Rhythm, and Sound. Casals' phrasing is superb, his intonation is good, and his sound is really good. What more can one ask?

Estimado Francisco.

The Castilian people have been stealing Catalan identity and language for centuries. That's by we say we Catalans are not Spanish and why Pau Casals cannot be called anything else but Pau, NOT PABLO. That would be continuing the robbery of our national identity and the real identity of PAU Casals. "I Am a Catalan" the name given to a short speech given by cellist and humanist Pau Casals in front of the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 24 October 1971. Casals was in front of the assembly to present the "Hymn of the United Nations" composed by himself and to receive the U.N. Peace Medal in recognition of his stance for peace, justice and freedom. In his acceptance speech, in English, he praised Catalonia and the Peace and Truce of God meetings, which he refers to as "the first parliament": "But let me say one thing. I am a Catalan. Today a province of Spain. But what has been Catalonia? Catalonia has been the greatest nation in the world. I will tell you why. Catalonia has had the first parliament, much before England. Catalonia had the beginning of the United Nations. All the authorities of Catalonia in the 11th century met in a city of France, at that time Catalonia, to speak about peace. 11th century! Peace in the world and against, against, against war, the inhumanity of war. This was Catalonia. I am so so happy, so moved to be here, with you." - Pau Casals After the speech Casals, 94 years old, performed one of his most popular songs "El Cant dels Ocells". Don't be confused. We Catalans don't seek for quarrels. What we seek is to live in this world and to be known and addressed and respected as Catalans, in other words, our culture be known and recognized as a such. That is our national identity and we are sick about seeing how so many people ignore it or how many castilians make everyone believe we are what we are not: castilian speakers, with a spanish mind. No. We are catalan speakers with a catalan mind, catalan heart and catalan soul.

Ea

He named himself Pablo, he was introduced by the UN president as “Don Pablo”,... and Casals was ok with it. All his recordings he named himself Pablo. Why do you insist on renaming him? Just google “Casals record sleeves” and look yourself. Nobody recognizes a Pau Casals outside Catalonia, while everyone knows Pablo Casals. YOU DISRESPECT THE MEMORY OF DON PABLO CASALS BY WANTING TO REWRITE HISTORY. You must be a petty liar
