    It's a damned shame that a B-29 that was a US national treasure that could fly was given to a British museum just so it could be put on static display. When you think that there are only two B-29's flying now in the US and this could have easily been a third flying here it being given to a museum in another country to be put in a museum is a national disgrace. If they just wanted one for static display they should have been given one that wasn't able to be restored to flying condition, not a flying airworthy plane.

    Yep , parking that there might cause a stir ! Parking a Corvette in Peak Forest car park does likewise. And to think , when my 3300hp 'daily driver ' was parked behind said 'Vette, i often thought to meself...' I've driven engines with less power than that car' !

    That's incredible that any footage exists of Little Barford. Incidentally I got a model of her the other day, made by Hattons. I don't suppose anyone knows why these engines had wasp stripes?

    I watched the B-29 take off from Tucson, AZ, on the day it began it's ferry to Duxford. The tail of the plane had a plywood board that said THE END on it. You can barely see that in this video.

      This b29 was sadly beyond repairable to flying conditions…..it was lucky to even get in the air at that times and wouldn’t have last long if it would be repaired to flying conditions

    • @cogboy302
      @cogboy302 Před rokem

      @@joshkeene8457 , but it managed to cross the Atlantic to get to the UK. It would be nice if Duxford would get it airworthy again. They do have the 'Sally B' B17 in flying condition. Seen it at Duxford and at airshows in Northern Ireland back in the early '90s. Would be nice to have the B29 in the sky again. Only Fifi & Doc are currently airworthy. I didn't even realise there was a B29 at Duxford until about a week ago. And I was there in 1992. Don't remember seeing it. Must have missed that hangar. I'll have to take a trip down south to go have a nosey at it.

    The final shot of the firebox from the footplate reminds me of watching the tankys getting cleaned out at eccles. @ 8.04 an engine passes under a water bridge (that's what I called it back then) it had a coal brazier on one side and we had a fire in it one day to keep warm. Must be nearly 50 years back now.
