Having to pause a moment... even before the song actually begins... to say this: I am so very impressed at the caliber of character demonstrated here -- Mr. Clapton giving nods to every other musical contributor ... one - at - a - time ... and allowing the audience to savor each one with its own time given -- and before the song begins! Way too often, an artist will quickly list & ramble off all if the names in a three seconds breath .. This was wonderful to see (ok, back to watching)

All'improvviso cambia abitudini (lui) ma tu non lo sai e te ne accorgi dopo tanto tanto tempo. _"Ohi, Ciccio ma sai a chi non vedo più? L'arcobaleno, Ogni tanto veniva e mi faceva una sorpresa, mi cambiava l'umore, lo Spirito mio si trasformava da ammosciato a solerte speranzoso. Una cosa dentro mi muoveva ogni volta che si presentava, ma non solo a me, a tutti. Ohi, Cí ma gli fosse successo qualcosa? Ohi, Ciccio ma tu sai qualcosa?"_ E *Ciccio* comincia con una domanda a cui non serve una risposta perché è una *domanda dialettica, drammaturgica*, è una domanda narrativa. Alle domande del narratore non bisogna mai rispondere perché è il medesimo che ti risponde: _"Ma come tu non sai niente? All''arcobaleno gli è capitato un fatto ...cosi ...così ...cosi"_ e Ciccio non ci mette la mano sul fuoco ma il fatto lo spiega. Allora mi spiega che i *Cinesi* _- che lo vedono come una fessura nel cielo sigillata da una divinità con pietre di 7 diversi colori -_ hanno litigato con il loro Dio e lo hanno preso a pietrata e le prime sono state quelle 7. *Non c'è più niente per i cinesi, al posto dell'arcobaleno una murata di pietre*. E anche i *Greci* e i *Vichinghi* che _- vedono l'arcobaleno come il sentiero che i Dei utilizzano per mandare il loro messaggero agli uomini -_ hanno rotto con l'aldilà ed hanno scarrupato la strada, *ora è un viottolo che a malapena ci vola un passariello.* Poi Ciccio mi dice ancora che gli *Indú* hanno saputo che *Idra, il dio dei tuoni e dei fulmini* ha rotto il proprio arco per tirare fulmini e saette. Le piogge, d'ora in poi, saranno solo acqua che cade. _"Ohi, Ciccio, ma Cinesi, Greci, Vichinghi, Indú ... e ...da queste parti che altro è successo? Quali sono le mancanze"_ gli chiedo. E Ciccio _"Qua le cose sono complicate, non si capisce bene quale sia stata l'offesa fatta dall'Uomo all'Arcobaleno però..."_ _"Però?.."_ _"Però?!?!.."_ mi ripete Ciccio a me. _"Ciccio, il mio "Peró?" non è domanda drammaturgica, rispondi "Però?.."_ _"Peró la cosa la stanno studiando gli scienziati - americani russi italiani francesi e mediorientali tutti insieme - e poiché non sono arrivati che a congetture senza verifica di prova scientifica, indizi insomma. E allora..."_ _"E allora?.."_ _"...e allora vogliono sparare in cielo nei posti dove era solito apparire mille bombe atomiche e vedere se Lui si presenta..."_ _"Una cosa complicata!"_ dico io. This is my favorite song of all time. I chose a different song to dance with my son at his wedding in 2013, he came to my house and asked me to please switch it to Israel’s version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow 🌈, because he said he always thinks of me when he hears this song, because he knows it’s my favorite song & my favorite movie. My mom just passed away a month ago and my dad is in hospice declining faster downhill. My mom asked me 8 months ago what my favorite movie is, I told her Wizard Of Oz, she was surprised, she said “Still?”, I said absolutely and told her Marlin and I danced to “Somewhere” at his wedding in October 2013, my parents couldn’t come to the wedding, because my mom almost died in 2013, I’m a florist and I always planned on doing all my sons wedding flowers (I just did the flowers for my mother’s funeral in March 2024), I did the consultation with my DIL in May 2013, but my mom went into ICU June 1st, 2013, she had her 1st surgery on June 5th, but they couldn’t remove her intestines blockage or get both kidneys to work, I traveled to Southern California and stayed at her bedside most of summer at her bedside, my sister and I were made heads of her medical decisions, as my dad already had dementia bad in 2013 and couldn’t make medical decisions for mom, so all my 5 siblings and I already went through 2013, as my sister, who rotated bedside with mom with me, said at mom’s funeral last month, we’ve been grieving for mom for 11 years already, still nothing could compare or prepare me for mom’s eventual death, and my dad’s impending death. I was able to keep the promise I made to my mama & stay with her until her death, I thank God for guiding me & helping me time it just right, I watched lots of hospice videos to prepare me for my mom’s final stages of death, that helped & I was able to get 2 of my siblings to rush back to California & be with me and mom, mom couldn’t speak or see, during her last 4 days of life, as she started transitioning early Saturday morning and I knew she had began actively dying. No amount of videos, reading, nothing could prepare me for the pain of losing my beloved mama. I came on CZcams to watch Eric sing Tears In Heaven, because that song popped into my brain and I dedicated that song to my wonderful, kind, funny, artistic, smartest, prettiest, best mom in the world. She was so beloved by me, and my 5 siblings, all of my nieces and nephews, my sons, all of my parents great grandchildren, her funeral was the most beautiful funeral I’ve ever been to.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

If you really think about it, this song is a prayer to God the Father whose Will reigned over all of creation in the beginning. It was God who made us, the birds, and everything - all out of nothing by His Divine Will and we all are made in the image of Holy Trinity. If we repent, merge our human will submissively and obediently to God's Divine Will as Adam and Eve had in the beginning before the fall, then we would be linked to God and His power that creates beauty with that Holy Love. I don't know all of Eric Clapton's past history, but I hear and see a son asking his Father God that question of "why can't I fly like the birds." I expect a most positive reply. Did you notice that positive hopeful loving atmosphere during the song and among the people and place? Did you notice, too, that the people lingered on as if they were hoping to make the experience last longer even after Eric left. Did you notice three Eric's last words - God bless you; thank you very much and good night". Dare I say it, the Spirit of God was there. It shows that God is always waiting to be invited in to share all of our lives - The Sprit of God is here, among us all waiting to be invited in 24/7. God Bless.
