I am a novice writer and a huge Discworld fan!
This channels purpose is for me to share my explorations into writing, and what I'm reading. I aim to upload a video in my Prattling About Pratchett series once a month, and another video about my writing biweekly. Currently I am working every weekday eight to five, but I aim to be consistent!

Summerween 2024 - Days 6 and 7
My last of three vlog for Summerween 2024! I managed to finish three books, half of one, and that leaves three that will return to the book pile!
This has been such a fun thing to try out. :)

Things never go according to plan, do they? My beginning of Summerween 2024 where I aim to read way more horror and thrillers than I really do day to day, because why not introduce Halloween to summer? Many thanks to Gabbyreads, who has no idea I exist Support My Channel: KoFi - ko-fi.com/ranarbra

I decided to read three non fiction books on LGBTQ , Fanny and Stella by Neil McKenna, It Came From The Closet edited by Joe Vallese, Bad Gays by Huw Lemmey and Ben Miller, and because of events I read a fourth book ... Because of a dumb picture that I saw, one time, on Pinterest and it took over my brain like a parasite, I decided to get the books on this list and actually read them, and try and figure out just what it is that this list aimed to accomplish. There might simply be nothing. Support My Channel: KoFi - ko-fi.com/ranarbra

Less than fifty and that was not even a goal! I got quite a few books from Waterstones and I am fairly certain that they are from all genres! Well, most at least. :) Support My Channel: KoFi - ko-fi.com/ranarbra
Discworld 19 - Feet of Clay
zhlédnutí 24Před 3 měsíci
The nineteenth Discworld novel by Sir Terry Pratchett, Feet of Clay, which I personally read as all about heraldry, heritage, and how a certain someone living in Ankh-Morpork really really should rethink the jobs that he is taking. When you know you know. The journey of rereading these fantastic novels is on going, and I am really, really enjoying this idea of mine. Certainly not the worst one ...

So I was reading Jennifer Hilt's Trope books, and because of the way that I am I then decided that I needed someone to talk to about tropes after. So if you are reading this, you are my victim and I thank you for that. 😊 Support My Channel: KoFi - ko-fi.com/ranarbra

I am not good at planning my reading either I am a mood reader so making a tbr 99.99% don't work for me haha 😅
I live in the hope that I can actually be organized - so far, this month, so good but ... it is so hard!! 🤣
Katy Brent's book is way, way too similar to Pretty Evil by Zoe Rosi, which first came out in 2020.
*PromoSM* 😳
Not to take away from the excellence that is the rest of the book, but my favourite parts are the brief scenes with Sergeant Colon and Corporal Nobbes. I think it's the tonal contrast from the rest of the narrative that makes those comedic interludes really pop for me.
YES! It also gives such a fantastic view into the mindset of the people of Ankh-Morpork and just how familiar those two are with all the things that go into the city. Like the Night People, and they know Death as who he is; they are the few among the living, along side witches and wizards who can see Death no problem, and it's Nobby and Fred! :)
I'm a little ashamed to admit that the first time I read this, the revelation of Angua's minority status absolutely floored me. The way Pratchett misleads the reader on that point really forced me to re-evaluate my biases, it was humbling to realize how closely I resembled the stereotypical reactionary leftist in that instance. Also, I can't forget to acknowledge Pratchett's superb wordplay throughout his work with its hidden-in-plain-sight puns that you don't notice until you say the words out loud; my favourite one in this book being the "any prior convictions?" bit during the recruitment drive.
YES! I read this years ago and the fact that both words begin with "w" just misleads you beautifully! And the fact that this is fantasy and the term "undead" gets used - the first time reading this is just magic. :)
The messaging was a bit on the nose, but I did like how Magrat's victory as the queen really highlights the power of belief.
"One day a tortoise will learn how to fly."
I love how everything ties together - Sir Terry Pratchett really knew his craft. :)
Such a big topic!! I think building the habit is huge, but also that it's not realistic for everyone to write every day. Totally relate to the can't sleep unless I've written something though!!
Some people just genuinely have such busy days that writing every day is just not possible
@@grshjelm1984 Exactly haha !! :)
My favourite fairytale spoof in the novel is when the "wicked witch" has a farmhouse land on her hat. The dwarf bread anchoring the "players" back to reality just made my day the first time I read it.
The first time I read that I was floored! It only gets funnier the more often I read it 😊
Good luck with the reading 🍀
Thank you!

Good going :D I'll hold you to it. so you dont use 7 years on the next one. He he he :D I have sketchbooks too. That I paint in. I think I have filled 4 in 7 years. So you see, I am not a racehorse either. But its all about the process. As long as you enjoy what you do. It don't matter how long it takes to finish it. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and get an amazing weekend.
Thank you! Just in the past month I've filled out about half of the first new notebook! :)

A story a day, is an excellent way to spark your creativity. It can be hard at first. But if you stick to it, it will become easier. Creativity is a muscle you need too train😀 I've done prompts a day for both Inktober and Worldwatercolor month. You learn so much from it. Good luck 🍀
Thank you! :)
Terry Pratchett books keep being recommended to me but I haven't gotten around to them yet. Love Miss Marple!!! Glad you had such a productive reading month. :)
Thank you! Agatha Christie is SO adictive!
So - the original Gin and Daggers came out in 1989, the copy I have is the one republished in 2000. Donald Bain wrote the first 47, and was succeeded in 2017 by Jon Land who has since authored 6. Terrie Farley Moran has authored 4 so far, with one coming out in May and another in January next year. So 57 books in the series in total. 😊
You got this! I take the camps to prep my book for Nanowrimo or editing. Read Chistopher Vogler's Writer's Journey.
Thank you! Oh that's smart, and thanks for the recommendation. :)
Making up one's mind must be the hardest part of Camp. I know what I'll be writing for my first Camp but it definitely took a while. Good luck! I'm excited to find out what you end up choosing.
I'm really leaning towards the Genius Loci, honestly. :)
This is my first Camp too! Godspeed! We're going to have so much fun!!!!
I'm a newbie CZcamsr also- no videos posted just yet. Watched a few times to get your "hours watched" up and will comment a few times to get your "community engagement" up too.

Thank you! I am SO excited for Camp - I just can't decide which project to work on!! I can't wait!!
Yay!! Welcome to the NaNoWriMo community!!
Thank you! 😊
Hello! Welcome! This is my second NaNoWriMo. I didn't win last year, but it's a great experience. I wish you all success! My first language is Spanish. I love pirates too.
Thank you! This is going to be so exciting!! :)
Good luck!
Thank you!
Good luck on your first year! I could never use that neverending story notebook it's too precious. Your story about pirates sounds so good! I always let the wb for last because it intimidates me but probably because of that I never finished a story 😢 I also have a story about pirates, if you find one of those books useful please talk about it in a vlog. Have a great preptember!
Thank you! I probably will! 😁
