I’m with Vasquez on this one. I feel like anyone on this list before Bernstein, as great as they may be, have no CLUE what they’re conducting. I’ve listened to the full symphony more than 20 times, and the ending probably over a hundred times. My enthusiasm only grows over time; I never get worn out from hearing it.
I don't think anyone is full of life more than Bernstein at the finale of this piece. He is a student of Mahler's work and it shows in his face. While Vasquez is a tad more animated I don't get the same love that Bernstein has. He's practically in tears of joy. I can see where Bradley Cooper got his spastic and untempoed moves from though, It's a hard job but he still conveyed it well
Bernstein identifies himself with Mahler. For those who believe im that he is the reincarnation of Mahler. For me,Chung is the preferred, second only to Bernsten.Mahler n.1,forever❤
Poor assessment of enthusiasm. I guess, by that token, you would characterize Karajan's as no enthusiasm, since he rarely displays emotions and his moves are not very expansive.
This is one of the greatest things about being a conductor. You have to show emotion, no matter how slow or fast a piece is. All of these conductors were amazing! :)
Because Mahler's music is Heavenly all conductors automatically show enthusiasm when conducting his awesome compositions. I put Mahler on top of my list of GOAT composers ever!!!!!
Gergiev: enthusiasm likened to eating a hearty meal in a great rush, with a bit of acid reflux Chailly: having vision of the divine at the penultimate choral note Eschenbach: stoic, polished, calculated Dudamel: enthusiasm belongs to the baton and hair Mehta: authentic enthusiasm, smiley as if seeing a grandchild after a hard winter's week
Boulez conducted everything the way Glenn Gould played music he didn't like. Totally objective, zero inflection or involvement. He said in an interview that he avoided discussing Mahler with Bernstein because they had such different goals. Imagine meeting another musician and avoiding discussing the music you're passionate about-ergo, he wasn't actually passionate about it. I actually have no idea why he's so highly regarded as a conductor.
Bernstein is the worst. The conductor has to rehearse, mark time and keep the orchestra under control. Above all the conductor has to let the focus be on the the music, not himself. Bernstein is a distraction.

Bernstein is the best
cringe
If you don't conduct this like Bernstein, don't bother bruh

vasquez clearly inspired by bernstein tho
Bernstein felt the music to his very soul. Rattle always overdoes everything
boulez: get this tonal garbage over with...
Fascinating! Love the ‘simple enthusiasm’.
Other conductors: * *Throwing hands, crazy facial expressions, big gesturing* * Boulez: "I didn't come here to hear a V-I cadence"
We are saddened to find out maestro osawa has passed away
Extraordinario el maestro leonard b. Dirigiendo el final de la sinfonia resurreccion del gran gustav mahler
POR SUPUESTO BERSTEIN❤❤❤👏👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹
Me quedo con Bernstein
Where’s Dudamel in this list? He’d be off the podium levitating!!
Bradley cooper: overenthusiasm
No way Bernstein isn't in the final spot. Rattle moves his arms more but nothing tops that Bernstein clip.
Ich habe keinerlei Sympathie für das wiederholte Boulez-bashing.
boulez has heard the mahler 2 so many times the magic is gone :(
Legend Bernstein
you dont see Celibidache and Mahler "enthusiasm" do you!?!?!?!?u know why? cuz Mahler was not a symphonist.
what a waste of time.....Mahler. yuk. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Klaus Tennstedt did it divinely majestic! His cycle on EMI box! Guts you every single time!
Of course Vasquez has "extreme enthusiasm" compared to the others, he's HALF their age. ; ) And yes, he is an excellent conductor.

I'm sorry but Bernstein is and will always be #1❤
Forgot Chailly “ vision of God over the choir “ :))
Meanwhile, 1st trumpet dying and having an orgasm at the same time

Well, since they don't actually make the music, they have to find a way to get it out of the musicians.
I'd say Mahler really hit this one out of the park, no?
Bernstein forever

There is no list- Mahler is THE GOAT!
The GOAT of symphonies.
I wonder where Gustavo Dudamel would fit in on this list
I just can't imagine how Mahler would have directed his own Symphony
Vasquez for me! You can see him pour his entire life, heart, and soul right into that moment and it’s breathtaking
The CR7 effect
Wild herausfahrend fr fr
Gergiev win
I think that's the most enthusiasm I've ever seen from myung whun chung

thats sacrilegious
osawa é o melhor
Vasquez: 😔😲😖😠😫😡💥
Jsjajja i fucking love Bernstein
Lo importante no es dirigir, sino que suene excelente.
Mahler enthusiasm brings me to tears
Brooo you got it all wrong, Bernstein definitely wins this one!!!
Chung milked that so hard he got cheddar.
