You do such a good job on your renos Allison - You & Christian of course! I think you are too hard on yourself sometimes in terms of how you think the video looks etc. I'm sure it's the perfectionist in you...& all of us keyboard critics...but don't forget to give yourself grace! The fact that you do the reno & all that it entails, plus filming & all that entails & finally editing & that long arduous process - all whilst being of mom of 2 (a toddler & new born aye!! Lol!) and all that life entails! Just wanted to say that cuz I think it every time I notice you critiquing yourself in the voiceovers...You're doing amazing!!! And this bathroom is just beautiful! What a transformation! ❣

I think you did a great job on your kitchen Allison!! It looks shiny & new. I imagine it probably feels so good too! All of your hard work was worth it Two suggestions would be some caulk around some of the edges, just to give a more finished look in a few spots. Also, I think a nice jute or natural fiber type rug (or any rug really) would help to give some warmth & even match your kitchen shade if you went with a natural fiber & just put that finishing touch. You've probably already thought of these things! Anyway, bravo to you & your husband for pulling this off w/a toddler, a new baby & a dog!! Enjoy in good health!!💖

New subscriber so I'm just seeing this. I used Veranda PVC in my kid's bath in 2015. It's mostly installed with Power Grab cement and some white panel nails. The nail holes do disappear. It looks yellow to me so paint was necessary, but it finishes beautifully. I finished the ceiling with PVC crown molding but what you've done looks excellent. Christian is very detail oriented and he's doing a better job than a contractor would do.

12 months later...I'm a Johnny Come Lately but I looked at a 1963 very original tri level today and it's so odd that CZcams is suggesting your videos without me searching and you didn't title anything "60's tri level." Your house is so similar. The yellow bath project is exactly what I needed. I'm wondering if the floors are wood under the kitchen tile. Paint your wall paneling. If you are still military, it's important to not spend more than the assessed value of the home since you might suddenly need to move and sell it. Taking out chimneys require patching the roof. You have a great, roomy first home. Maybe that dining room can be a playroom for now.

not bad for a temporary redo! those contact paper counters always seem like a headache, no matter what kitchen or bath someone is doing them in. the only suggestion i have is taking some caulk and doing the seams between the counter and backsplash. it'll help those transitions look more seamless and the dark line from the old finish won't show.

Great job and persistence. I had a very similar kitchen in my last home. All of the cabinets were wood, but the uppers didn’t open properly, so we just used curtains across them. One of the previous owners had put a brown tile, which had wide grout and didn’t match nor coordinate with the backsplash, so I used black vinyl to cover the counter which gave a nice contrast to the overly brown cabinets and backsplash. That’s about as far as I got…u til we got ready to move and put in new cabinets. It wasn’t true to the house, but it was more updated and useable space. We have to do what helps us to be happy in our homes, if it is only temporary.

It looks fantastic, clean and fresh, for an in between kitchen before a renovation it’s great. Just wondering if you’re going to tackle and redo the mouse pantry?

I'm 67 years young and I choose as my new adventure a fixer upper house. It needs more fixing up than I realized and I only have so much money so I just repainted my kitchen cabinets and changed out the hardware too. . I was so excited to see your video becausemy kitchen is about the same as yours.. I'm now at the point of rehanging the doors. You gave me motivation to finish this job. Your kitchen looks great. TY

It looks beautiful. You are truly amazing. I couldn't get the nerve to paint my cabinets because it is such a big job and I no longer have children at home. I love your makeovers-they are so inspirational and so are you. Madelyn got so big!! QUESTION: I thought of buying those peel and stick tiles to put on a painted wall because paint behind the sink and stove just doesn't hold up. BUT do you find the peel and stick tile to stay on the wall? I don't want to invest in real tile.

Aloha! I think you were wise to keep the original solid wood cabinet door and drawer fronts; as well as the hinges. You can always "embellish" the doors/drawers with trim as an upgrade as your kitchen evolves. You might also think about saving your pocket door; what I would give to have been able to use one for my powder/laundry room!
