4 Ways to Naturally Get Rid of Roly Polys in Your Garden
Here are the top 4 ways to naturally eliminate roly polys from your garden
1, Potato traps: Cut a potato in half and scoop out a cavity. Lay the potato cut side down. Every morning, turn the potato over and clean out the roly polys into a bucket with a lid and remove from the garden. I like to dump the roly polys in the the chicken coop.
2, Cantaloupe trap: Cut a cantaloupe in half and scoop out the seeds and flesh. Lay the cantaloupe cut side down in the garden. Then in the morning, flip the cantaloupe over and scoop the roly polys out and put in a bucket with a lid. Feed them to the chickens or relocate them. The cantaloupe will need to be replace every 3 to 4 days because it will mold.
3, Diatomaceous earth: Diatomaceous earth is ground up fossilized sea shells. Diatomaceous earth will work its way up under the shell causing the roly polys to dehydrate and die. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the garden where you see the roly polys. Reapply if the DE get wet.
Before we get to # 4…. If you would like to learn the other ways to control roly polys in garden you can get it in our Homemade and Organic Pest control ebook that you get for free when you sponsor the HPG show, we give it away along with the The Gardener's Guide to Perfect Soil and the Preserving Fruits and Vegetables Guide to anyone who sponsors this show at the $8.25 level. If you would like to get free ebooks, Go to thelivingfarm.org/high-performance-garden-show/ scroll down the page to find the sponsor section or click on the link below the video.
4, Sluggo Plus: this is an organic listed product that has iron phosphate and Spinosad as the active ingredients. It is effective on lots of garden bugs including roly polys. It comes in pellet form and is sprinkled on the garden. With just a few household ingredients and some diligence you can keep your garden free from roly polys.

Pyrethrin: Pyrethrins are extracts from a chrysanthemum. You can spray it on or use a powder. 2. Safer Soap: It works well on aphids if you can get it on the body. It kills by suffocation. Aphids breathe through their pores. Safer Soap clogs their por...

Hi There! I am not sure what you are asking about. If you could email me with a more specific question, I would be happy to answer. Send your question to thelivingfarm1938 (at) gmail.com Thanks
More great info.
Thanks, are you going to plant a fall garden?
@@TheLivingFarmPaonia I have never grown past frost in October but I would like to give it a try.
I miss the aphids because I never get my stuff together to plant a spring garden!
That is a great way to skip the aphids!
I giggled every time I saw the dog tail!! Thanks for all this. Can't wait to try it.
My cucumbers have been amazing this year.
Thank you for sharing! ❤ I love cucumbers 🥒 they are so refreshing even in water and beverages and especially in salads. May you walk in beauty ❣️ ✨️
Thank you, Madame, you answered all of my questions about growing cabbage.

The title of this is totally unrelated to the content in the video. what does one do when zucchini stops producing??? 🤷♀️🤷♀️
Thank you !
Thank you for watching!

Thanks, Lynn!
It is fun to get to eat the cantaloupe before the roly polys!
Great info
Thanks Roberta!!!
Are those the same as the rolly pollies that live in the barn yard? If they are and you have a barn yard a good thing would be to put them in the barn yard next to cow pies .
Excellent idea!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you! I now know our cabbage is ready!!!
Cilantro, yuck
Thank you Lynn.😊❤
Thanks for watching!
all year round spinach any climate! sign me in. I live in Antartica by the way, so excited to start growing spinach in hard block frozen ground or just in thousands of years ice blocks

Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Always great information!
Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Great video.

Those onions will escape their bed and you will be chasing them around your yard. Ask me how I know that.
I guess you will have to eat more of them.
Great idea. I’ll try this next year. Thanks, Lynn
Thanks for watching!
Love the watering can holes use it till it stops working!
Yes, it has lasted a long time with holes in it!
I did this to my sister's flowers this past week while visiting.
They will be bushy and beautiful in 3 weeks!

Thank you for watching!
I need to work on my pile.
Me too!!!
Thanks for watching!
Back from vacation, my garden sitter enjoyed my cucumbers.
That is a great way to get a person hooked on gardening!
Great video In terms of turning the compost like I have seen a French tool that looks like a massive corkscrew. You turn it into the iPod then pull up to average the compost What's your thoughts? Any good
This sounds interesting. Do you know the name of the tool?
I have these. My wife's grandma gave me a start of them 25 years ago. I don't let them walk. I replant the bulbils in the fall for very big green onions in the spring of next year. These have survived extreme cold, drought and floods(Northwest Ohio). My main crop of onions are Red Dutch Shallots and Yellow Potato Onions which I replant every spring.
Thank you for watching and sharing your onion story. I think every garden should have these!
Thanks for the video! What type of string and what size clips do you recommend for growing medium-sized pumpkins this way? Thanks again!
I have a GreenStalk full of violas this year that I never planted. I had a couple of pockets with violas last year a they apparently seeded the whole GreenStalk.
I love that Free plants. I also love the way plants move to areas of the garden where they are able to flourish.
Enjoy those violas! I love having them in the garden that they taste good too!
What about Royal Sovereign strawberries?
When applying DE, be sure not to breathe any in and not to apply on the plant (apply only to soil) because you dont want bees to get it on them.
Thsnk you, Lynn My peas did well for a few weeks then dried up. I sowed a few more, same big pot, hope better this time.
Thanks for watching and good luck with your peas!
Thanks, Lynn!
Thank you for watching!
I need to turn my pile more.
Thanks Roberta for being my biggest fan! I appreciate you!
Nice video.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Lynn for teaching us and reminding us. Sometimes we get busy and forget. 😊❤
I appreciate you watching the video!

Thank you for the video! Great info!
Thank you for the video 👍- I just came inside from tending to my berry plants - I have runners everywhere and am going back outside to clips them now!
I try to follow all the rules but have had the hardest time making compost. It doesn’t get hot enough.
