For those wondering what she means by “Mr. Huberty had a gun in his head” The San Ysidro McDonald's massacre: 41-year-old James Huberty, fatally shot 21 people and wounded 19 others at McDonald’s. Huberty killed baby’s, children and young employees.
I think this is one of the most incredible songs ever written. It gets into your soul. I saw Throwing Muses in Leicester and waited in the snow to say hello after the show. Kristin and Tanya have made music that puts most other efforts in the shade.
Bi polar simply means the ability to hear both voices. Both gods. A gift beyond comprehension. With this music, we glimpse.

Singer Kristin Hersh references James Huberty, (San Ysidro Calif. McDonald's mass killer 1984), in the Throwing Muses song "Hate My Way," a track from the band's eponymous debut album. I remember the shooting, I was 19 when it happened. I was concerned every time I went to a McDonald's back then that there would be another massacre by some deranged person.
I saw them in St. Petersburg Florida for House Tornado or Real Ramona, can't remember which but yeah what a band! Nothing really like them.

I’ve known this song for 30+ years, but becoming a therapist and relistening to this, while understanding Kristen’s living with bipolar makes it hit home so much harder. The line “and why/do I want to die”, Jesus, as a therapist who also is neurodiversive, that just cuts to the bone.

I feel like this band is speaking to me. I just recently found the song I don’t wanna sound weird but is Someone in the band bipolar? Or have bipolar disorder. It’s been some thing I’ve been trying to overcome for years and I feel like this song is literally about my life
