Bfly Bricks is a haven for Lego fans who don't want to spend a fortune on their hobby.
I regularly rebuild & modify existing sets to improve their play-ability and function.
Theme's I collect - Star Wars, Friends, Batman, Movie sets, Ideas, Modular, City.
I've been heavily collecting since 2009 and have almost never paid full price for sets. I'm always looking for a bargain!
Butterfly Cafe was once a highly successful play cafe with play areas, tons of Lego to play with & displays of toys, it ran Lego clubs for kids & focused on doing things on budget, making use of the bricks you have.

Well done son, it's nice to see your city progressing and I love how you created that seaplane.
Thanks, it's looking good, can't wait to get some graphics on the seaplane, then it'll really look finished
Fun fact it is not a c-119 I have been in one before and the interior does not match, after doing research I have found that it is it’s a c-82 which is very similar but is smaller.
Ah no way, I never knew that, I had a look and reckon you're right as it is a fair bit shorter. Probably is a c-82 after all. Either way it's a cool aircraft. I love the twin boom. Funny thing actually, I'm just in the middle of reusing this moc for a new project. I'm building a seaplane based on this, but making an aircraft that's never existed, just an original idea which borrows design elements from lots of planes. Should be done in the next two weeks, check it out when it appears 🙂

Thanks for the features! Good round up of the displays. Loved the microscale cities
Cheers, we had a great time ☺️
I can’t remember where the pics are, but if you search google for *Detectives office xl*, someone expanded and separated their detectives office modular increasing the size of both buildings … might be helpful to see what others have done 0:06
Don’t fear color discrepancies… the real world isn’t neat and orderly. Don’t forget to add life rings (life preservers) along the canal … adding them along the walkways is a simple detail to add that will improve your scenes
Yeah life preservers are something I'd like to add. I already have one on the Jetty but I'm thinking of making some kind of custom one or using ring tiles instead. Probably come back to it another time. Thanks for the reminder though 👍
Bro. 3 wtc and 4 wtc do not look like that. sorry
Your cobblestone road looks good, although I would intersperse ingot pieces in other colors like dark tan, olive green, light bluish grey, etc … I would also remove some of the ingots and replace them with the quarter circle tiles and single tiles or even use trans dark brown tiles for along the curb like there is standing water. You don’t have to go crazy, but small little derivations will improve the overall look for little effort
Oh wow that sounds amazing, I think if I were making it a much older road perhaps in disrepair I'd do something like that. I got a good deal on the dark grey ingots, so thats why i used them all, but in future i think i will intersperse them with other colours especially olive and sand blue if they do them in sand blue. I will be adding a separate curb and drainage along the edge on the baseplate, so it will look more finished. Good ideas though, really appreciate the thoughts, definitely something i'll revisit once i've got the bulk of the front area finished. My plan is to get a basic sort of complete look done, and then revisit areas and add more detail, so it's an ongoing project, but....at any one time it will kinda look finished and presentable.
@@BflyBricks you’d be surprised how a little variation in color and texture can improve a scene
Very cool I am building a lego city of my own

The sets should have included some regular 1x1 and 1x4 plates so the designs could be more three dimensional. They really limited their potential audience by only including tiles, and no pieces that could be useful for regular LEGO building.
Yes quite agree, 1x1 plates available in a variety of colours alongside the tiles would have been fantastic, probably have put the price up too much with an increase in part count etc, but it would have been cool. They could have done more 3d art style sets with 1x1 plates like you say. But they were all in on that crafting market of 7-12 yr girls. I use tiles all the time, so I love the sets and still pick them up when I see them, especially for the corner tiles in various colours
Regarding the last train layout, you're spot on. The guy who built it (Block junction) deliberately wanted it to look very model rail esque and I gotta say he's pulled it off well. The train running was mine as I was getting a bit daft and trying to run a very long train..... It didn't work, lol. The InterCity 125 set belongs to Breckland Bricks, and it's a gorgeous (but noisy) runner.
He did a great job. I will eventually be putting ballast on my own very short train layout and I think i might do a similar technique as it really looks realistic. Just parts intensive but hey its for the long term, so a good investment for something to look so good, it'll be worth it. I loved that long train though, you don't often see very long trains running on folks layouts because they usually don't have space, so to see such a long train running on a layout in person was a real treat. All the carriages and wagons were so well done, love all the livery and signage, great job by everyone concerned 😊
How big is your Lego city?
I went for a rectangular city layout. It's planned around 48x48 grey baseplates. It's 6 baseplates long x4 baseplates wide. Roughly 7.5ft long to 4ft wide. That way I can reach into the middle of it and move stuff around etc
@@BflyBricks thanks for responding. My city I am building will be around same size . You mils plating those 48x48 baseplates? Parts are expensive!
@@Simpsons99Gaming yeah it's a good size, I do actually have more space but I just think it'll be annoying to do it larger. I also intend on taking it to brick convention's so it needs to be semi modular and not too big for that to be possible. I'm definitely not doing Mils on anything. Waste of parts for me. I'm happy with the new style Lego road plates and I'm building some stuff directly onto baseplates but I'll be putting cardboard under my modulars so they are a bit higher. I'll be doing a video on it when the time comes. It's exciting doing a city isn't it? Planning and stuff just takes over your thoughts ha ha, I'm thinking about Lego all the time 😄
Great show, some really interesting builds, love your Tokyo city, doesn't even look like lego, cool!

love it!
Nice informative video, I just started my city as well and used the same wood. I have noticed that all of my sheets are somewhat warped :( hopefully you found good ones.😊
OSB board should be pretty sturdy, i've glued a decent sized piece of plywood underneath so that's also giving it support, and then i've doubled up on top with MDF, so the two layers make it strong. For sure it can be warped at a thinner thickness, hopefully my 18mm stuff does alright, time will tell ☺
@@BflyBricks sounds like you got it covered nicely 😊
Black on black! One of, if not the greatest cars put to film! I wonder how it'd look with some of the net pieces like from back in the days of Monster Fighters.
Oh yeah mate, such a cool car, the whole aesthetic of the road warrior was just so far ahead of its time and the vehicle designs were awesome, a huge step up from the first movie. I'm looking forward to the new movie, the old interceptor is so iconic I hope we see a version of it. Yeah I have some pirates net pieces which I could use, I never had any of the monsters stuff. I am taking this MOC to a convention next week, so might get a minute to update it, cheers 👍
Very 1960s Joker with the lavender like purple!

Very nice! Could you do a suspention build for monster truck 101? Very good lookin stuff!
You got instructions available?😅
😮waw.
$399AU 😢 the exchange rate makes the Aussie dollar is a killer
It's super over priced, most Lego sets are these days. This is definitely a set to pick up when it's discounted or use VIP points to purchase. The minifigures are quite unique so likely they'll be worth a decent amount in future once the set is retired
@@BflyBricks very true, I do really want it so I guess I'll be saving a bit more over the next few weeks 😁
Its only parts from this set or?
Are you telling me the minute I decide to get back into DOTS they get cancelled? Dude I bought tons back when they first released I’m so sad (also I can still order sets on Amazon apparently??) EDIT: I just found Disney AND Harry Potter dots sets?? These look brand new???
They're a retired range, but you can still buy them in plenty of places. The Harry Potter and Disney sets only came out in 2023 so loads of them still available. There will not be any new dots sets ever again sadly.
Aww that is so cute , might need to get one 😊
Work of art, masterpiece!
Wow, thank you very much 😊
Great MOC. Your LEGO Gotham City Police Car looks really cool. I've built a Los Angeles Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and a Los Angeles Police Dodge Charger. I even built a white unmarked Crown Victoria Police Interceptor out of LEGOs.
Thanks so much Jacob, glad you liked my MOC. Your MOCs look brilliant, I had a look at your channel. The Ford crown Victoria is also one of my favourite American police cars, one day I might do a moc of one 🤔.
@@BflyBricks You're welcome. That's pretty cool that the Ford Crown Victoria is 1 of your favorite American Police Cars.
Thanks for sharing this I got fascinated with it and was checking is it worth buying it off market This looks too tiny pieces will bring more clutter
I'm just now getting into these :( I'm so sad
I really like works with lego art :) you captured Mondrian well
That's very kind thanks 😊
I posted a Lego friends unboxing because you inspired me!😊
I went and bought myself some of the Extra DOTS bags just for the cool star and gem pieces, I wanted to wait a while to get some of the DOTS series as they just weren't first priority sets to me, but I didn't know they would be discontinued.. :(
Yeah I still see some of the sets in a few stores but it won't be long before they're all gone. I also got a few extra bags for the printed tiles, as they're quite unique. Such an interesting theme but unfortunately the target market just didn't take to it 😔
This build is GORGEOUS & my 8y/o kiddo/building buddy and i have slightly modified and built it f9r our lego city. Thank you BflyBricks SO much for sharing this fantastic model❤
Very kind words, glad you like it. I love modifying modulars. Great to have a building buddy, really fun to spend time building and being creative. Long may it continue 😊
Murrayfield is the biggest stadium in Scotland with a capacity of over 67,000. Celtic Park is the biggest football stadium though. 60,411 capacity.
Parts and instructions???
Show us how you build it please I love Liverpool stadium as in lego
Today i bought a DOTS set for the first time. Ive had a lot of interest in how many things i can make Such a shame theyre discontinued... I feel very lucky to own this set now, haha
