Gordon’s as engaging (& thought-provoking) as ever. He was a young professor when I attended Gordon-Conwell in the 1980’s.
Still one of the best ways to receive immersive spiritual formation centered on a timeless Biblical anthropology to lead movements of Christianity's global reach.
Hello Mr. Schnabel, I was very pleased about your book "The New Testament and the End Times" and that it was published in German. Are you planning to publish your "New Testament Theology" in German as well?
Rural areas are not just a stepping stone. Never have been.
Amen!
As a former GCTS alumni, I need to say something first, Dr. Borgman and I spent many hours together, and I can testify to his love for Jesus and love for the campus. I do love Dean very much and hold nothing against him as a person or brother in Christ. However, I will say, my time at GCTS (2017-2019), racial reconciliation, social justice, and all these conversations, really led me astray. Sadly, I can attest to the sentiment, "seminary is the cemetery of the soul." Because these conversations veered my attention away from the true beauty of Jesus and the heart of the gospel for settling for social justice. The main issue I found being propagated in these classes (and I took 3 racial classes in my time at GCTS), is that if racism is systemic in nature, being a white man, I am inherently racist according to Dr. Borgman, and Dr. Emmit Price's theology (was a professor in my time there). The whole philosophy of white privilege advocates for this. That I am racist not based upon an action of racism, but because of my whiteness. Dean Borgman taught us, that racism is power plus prejudice, and that it was impossible for a black person to be racist, because systematically white people are primarily in positions of power. How is that right? Racism is an action of sin, why should someone be responsible for ancestral sins? Dean Borgman taught us from the Lord's Prayer and the emphasis of "us" and that being a proof text for the need to repent for ancestral sins. Why should someone be responsible for a sin they didn't personally commit? That is a lifeless gospel, and no gospel at all. What messed me up for years, was that me, as white man was just seen as the oppressor. I was left at repentance (and so were all the white people who took these racial reconciliation classes), but there was no redemption for anyone that was white (because racism was systemic and our whiteness made us inherently racist according to Borgman and GCTS). That is a false teaching and I hope Gordon Conwell repents of this because it's deceiving many, and unfortunately deceived me for a couple years. Sadly, I was always afraid to speak up in classes, because implicitly I never felt "a white person could share any sentiment about race because he/she knows nothing about racism." However, I am speaking up now. It has taken me now a couple years to get back to just the Bible, gospel, and knowing Jesus. I love you Dr. Borgman, and Gordon Conwell, but the emphases your putting on race doesn't actually bring about any redemptive nature nor is the gospel. Come back to teaching and equipping students just to know Jesus and to effectively do the work of ministry. These teaching do not do that!
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 wow!!!
It’s good to know that you’re still engaged in ministry, Dean. It’s been years, but I still remember your teaching from GCTS.
amen
Thanks Dean for your ministry. Nat White (son of your former high school colleague Janet White)
Finally, a military brother invited to speak at GCTS . This is tge very first time ever in 50 years where a patriot like this has been invited to speak on campus. It is about time.
I love this guy. My favorite professor when I was at GCTS
Issa vibe 💃🏿💃🏿
The Hidden Dimension is a wonderful contextual book for the arts and God's glory.

I am sorry no one has left a comment here since the interview was recorded ten years ago (I write in July 2021). Not so many years ago I recall an article by David Wells in the Banner of Truth Magazine (see website) on the Calvinist fathers of France, and have been interested in reformed French theology ever since. I have no academic background in theology so writers like Dr. Wells mean a great deal.
Watching this video brings back memories of my stay and studies at this amazing place. I never forget this place because it is where I learned, apart from academics, precious lessons in life. I am so thankful to the Lord whom I serve for sending me there and moulding my life for His ministry in India. I love this place and God's people in this part of the world. kuriyakosevarkey@hotmail.com

Thank you. What an illuminating msg and a challenge to be an authentic Christian. So different to the prosperity gospel.
