Guitar rhythm is descending, Bass feels like a combination of pneuma and invincible, Drums are similar to some in fear inoculum. This song really is like a birth canal to a lot of things on the album. Which is why it's kinda annoying some people just shrug this off a early version of descending

Is the first half in 11/8 or am I counting wrong? Feels like it's the origin of the 11/8 bass line in the title track.
I think you're right about the time signature. For a couple years they played around with this piece, even used it as an intro to Schism once. Definitely finds its home with Descending, but for one reason or another didn't make the cut.

Danny Carey has talked about having soooo much used saved content... he talked about wanting to do another album with Tool before he gets too old... I pray they do.. Tool is the greatest band in the world..
I think they all want to do one more, Ave in hope they do, & tour like crazy!

@@vulcansrule-theprometheane1893 ~ the video clip though, sort of a mash up, I don’t recognise it from anywhere, but it’s really cool! There may be an ‘Ascending’ track that’s released in future- I truly hope so! These live sound clips certainly tell a story. There’s elements I prefer in this live clip of ‘Descending’ in the second half, than what ended up on the album. Sacrilege! Haha.
