Welcome to Little Red's Reno where I'm DIY renovating a 1970s Aussie coastal beach house. As a DIY specialist, professional renovator and furniture maker I love to share the process of designing and building. After swapping the high heels of a magazine editor for the steel caps of a woodworker, I can power up to show you the best tools and right techniques to design and finish your projects like a pro.

Really cool thanks for posting!
Greetings from South Africa. Thank you for the ideas.
I LOVE THIS!
This idea is absolutely perfect!!!! LOVE IT!!!! Thank you!
This is great! What is the saw and guide you use for the 10 degree Bevelled cuts?
I used a Festool track saw but there are other brands like Ryobi.
If EVER! I am not that talented or patient. I think I'll end up paying someone to do this. But I think your bathroom looks AAAAAMAZEY!!!
que porqueria
I need to make something like this, we have limited space in our home. This would make life easier
to design it, start with sourcing the drawer cabinets and work you measurements around them
👍💓!!
Hey, I want to build the same at my house... could you give me the name of the cabinets so I can find them, please
these are Multistore Solutions flatpack single drawer cabinets from a hardware store. The range is out of production now but there are many other brands.
Wow, Great work amezing 😊
Thank you!
What is the white material you used
That is a cement render. The written instructions are on my website littleredindustries.com/howto/2021/11/28/rendered-block-bench
Great job...treated lumber is for outdoor use only, it is cancerous for indoor use because of the chemicals it emits into the closed environment.
I live in bushland Australia where there is a very real danger of termites. It's essential to use treated timber for framing here. It is also a very open room all year round.
As long as it does not come in direct contact with food or bare skin, it’s fine to use inside. The chemicals used to treat it are not airborne.
That hasn't been true of treated lumber for 20 or so years. It can be used inside.
does the varnish help the curtain slide better along the rod?
Yes, I think it does improve it slightly. It also prevents any moisture damage and is worth doing.
Not a trestle table, but whatever.
how long will this last?
I've had this for over a year and it's hasn't faded at all. The key is to seal it properly.
Brilliant! Finally found JUST what I've been looking for because my plant stand (v similar to yours), would take at least a decade (give or take), to sand all the rust off. I'm going with your method. Thank you :)
Love this. Your channel has some great projects. Thanks for posting them.
Thanks for watching!
This was incredible
Thank you!
Hello you ❤️ 🙏
Wow, looks great! And I was pleased that whilst the video didn't make it look simple, it also didn't look hard. Particulary for how professional the final product looks
Thanks! The build is simple once the planning has been through through - working out how to manage the angles of the backrest was the trickiest bit.
Ummm.. this is amazing ….
Thank you.
beautiful
Thank you.
Thank you for idea
Thanks or watching!
How did you trim the backer board before sanding the edges?
I just scored it with a utility knife then snapped it. If I was going to make it again, I'd cut it to fit first. The instructions are on my website www.littleredindustries.com/renovate/2021/5/12/tiled-fireplace-hearth
Would love to know how this is holding up? Was thinking of using on my cement floors
I've had this for over a year and it's hasn't faded at all. It still looks good. The key is to seal it properly.
@@littleredindustrieshi do you have any issues cleaning the floor with a wet mop and what brand do you recommend to seal?
What do the mineral turps do?
How's it holding up? Any issues with the base cracking after a year?
This still looks great and it hasn't cracked.
Hello please what render did you use
It's a Dunlop cement render. The written instructions are on my website littleredindustries.com/howto/2021/11/28/rendered-block-bench
Awesome job! Love the cabinet idea...better space use and saves so much money and time to just buy those cabinets instead of make them.
Agreed. It saves a lot of time and money buying the sheets and cutting them down to make the cabinets.
Great work! What kind of wood did you use, and what kind of varnish?
Hi, I used Tasmanian oak panels and dowel from my local hardware store. The varnish is clear, marine-grade called Monocel Gold.
That’s just way too much work.
Can you share the product product link
The full instructions are on my website littleredindustries.com/renovate/2022/1/18/7ymr6gf1l7zbgghxdm13bsdyw5e9d9
Love to see women with such skill doing carpentry. 👏 very nice work👍
Thanks. Anyone can use power tools!
Wow! This is amazing gives me an idea.
Where can I find those cabinets??
I purchased the flatpack drawers from my local hardware store. You can see the full tutorial on my website littleredindustries.com/renovate/2021/5/6/build-a-banquette-with-fluted-timber-detail
What size boards for seating
I used off-the-shelf sleepers from a hardware store. Use any, so long as they are thick enough not to bend and will fit through the holes. The written instructions are on my website littleredindustries.com/howto/2021/11/28/rendered-block-bench
May I know which drill bit is used for making the holes
The full instructions are on my website littleredindustries.com/howto/2023/2/20/multi-use-side-table
Very helpful ty. I have planned out a birdhouse I'm going to make for my dad and have been buying wood, tools and parts over the last year so I'm wanting to start building soon. That being said I also found him some tall wooden CD shelves next a wall in our area so I thought I could sand those down, put some lining inside then some soil for my dad to plant some herbs and whatnot. I'm just wondering if using this type of manual sanding is fine or should I buy an electrical sander. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Yes, manual sanding is fine! Just make sure that you seal/varnish the timber properly otherwise it will get moisture damage.
My vaporwave dream is coming soon! Thank you for the tutorial! Would you mind sharing the name of the sealing product that you used? Thanks in advance :D
The full instructions and links are on my website littleredindustries.com/howto/2023/5/17/coloured-grout-planter
Nice work... You're channel is gonna blow up with stuff like this
Thank you.

Yes, you can see the full instructions on my website littleredindustries.com/renovate/2021/5/6/build-a-banquette-with-fluted-timber-detail
Hey there, do you have a list of materials for this?
Yes you can see the full instructions on my website littleredindustries.com/renovate/2021/5/6/build-a-banquette-with-fluted-timber-detail
Nice presentation - Good luck with that - I think there is no UV protection with that product
Brilliant!
What timber did you use and how much did it cost?
how much does something like this cost to make?
At the time, about $1k Australian dollars, with the half-round dowel costing the most. But better than buying dining chairs!
Bunnings here I come!!!
Natasha, I have watched way to many DIY vids how to make a bench using Cinder Blocks. Always felt they lacked in visual appeal, had a "cheap quality" appearance. Then stumbled on your video. The use of Spray Foam is Brilliant !!! Your bench has a high end designer look. Outstanding you deserve more views/likes/comments then you have.
Thanks Mark. The idea was to keep it super simple but not to look it. It’s a fun one to make too. I’ve since added another layer onto it and turned it into a bbq table.
Apparently you can dilute it 1 to 1 as well
