Hi, Nichole and Chris Pistello here. Orange and Olive was created through our passion of wood working and the love of life and family. We named our company in memory of our 5 times Great Grandparents and yes, that is truly their names! What a perfect match! We have been remodeling homes and doing custom wood work in our spare time for over 10 years. It quickly moved from a hobby into a passion. We love taking old weathered wood and furniture and giving it new life, along with working on our house in multiple capacities to make it our HOME. Whether it’s using our imaginations to create a custom piece, refreshing our walls with a coat of paint or working on our landscaping we enjoy many things and want to share our experiences in the hopes it will inspire you! Most importantly, we hope that you stop and take some time to enjoy the little things in life that make you happy, no matter what it is. Life is made up of these moments and they are the things that we all will remember forever!

Hi there! We used construction adhesive like Liquid Nails and let that dry before hanging. We waited to glue the mirror in place after the whole project was built.

What do you use to make sure no bugs get inside the house?
Hi there! You can use the foam closure strips for the corrugated top and weather stripping any place that you see holes, usually around the siding.
Oh my eyes are burning and I will never be able to get that horrific image of you Butt dancing in those Cargo shorts. That is a great idea though as I have a lovable little Kitty that will hide under the table and beeline it for the outside whenever she thinks she won't get caught before the door closes. We don't want her outside so maybe something like this will help satisfy her natural instinct to at least be outside.

Hi Rachel! Thank you! I would keep at 16x16 for sturdiness, especially once you start adding items in the stockings. You could try 12x12 and if it doesn't work you can always add the extra 4" around the base like a "frame". Hope this helps!

do you let the clay dry before applying to the ornament. DO you let the clay dry before painting?
Hi Lori! Nope and nope =) No need to let either dry before doing each step. It actually helps having the clay pliable that way you can easily attach to rounded surfaces.
My experience to share...FYI: I made 100 ornaments last year...I removed the clay from the moulds and applied the wet clay on already painted ornaments (the painted surface makes for better adhesion) in a base color...when clay is dried on the ornament, painting is done over entire ornament...when paint is dry, use a clear wax...apply antique wax onto entire ornament and wipe off with wipe leaving the darker wax in the crevices in and around the clay...if you think the antique wax is too dark, you can use clear wax over it as it "removes" the intensity...when dry, use a rub-n-buff (in gold, silver, rose gold, white or champagne, etc) to highlight the high points of the ornament...they will be absolutely gorgeous...have fun!
