My collection of player piano rolls from 1920s to some modern music. This collection of piano rolls started when I was three years old, when my Dad bought this piano at a local antique store. Today, it’s very hard to find new piano rolls, but I keep looking to make the collection grow bigger. Some songs could be corny for some people, but not for those who grew up with these songs.
A player piano is a self-playing piano containing a pneumatic or electro-mechanical mechanism, that operates the piano action via programmed music recorded on perforated paper or piano roll.
New videos are posted on this channel on Thursday mornings CDT. I record two videos a week. If a piano roll is a long play (has more than one song), then there will be only one video for the week.

@@skmgeek this just shows that whoever is behind it can't play piano and they rely on a midi player, and it's not challenging, this is one of the easiest pieces a pianist can learn

Whats with the dotted lines that aren't even holes
@@georgieippolito9924 the dotted lines is how loud you should play the roll. For example, PP means very soft, P means soft, MF means medium loud, F Means loud, FF means very loud.

@@epicredhead13 yes I do have a pedal on my player piano that make it play softer.
@@epicredhead13 kinda. There's a damper pedal which makes it sound muffled and quieter. Seldom is used though because it changes the sound a lot. When actually playing you just change the volume by altering how hard you hit the keys.

Have you thought about getting a decent audio equipment to record your piano in better quality? I would say, if you invest 300€ you can double the quality of what you do here.

As I understand, this song is from the sixties, correct? Did QRS still make roles by then?
Yes the song was recorded in 1969, released in 1970. At the time that piano roll was released, they were still making piano rolls. They still make yearly Christmas rolls, but they don’t make piano rolls anymore based on newer,classics, musicals or genres. The last piano roll they made was Disney’s Frozen theme song Let It Go. That was made in 2017. You can still buy their piano rolls from their catalogue of piano rolls from their website shop.qrsmusic.com/music/rolls

The temp seems to be set correctly but it feels slow even at 1.25 speed. 1.5x feels about right but the pitch is obviously off
Nah, 1.5 is too fast. And since when is the pitch off? Changing the playback speed here doesn't change the speed. Try it again and pay closer attention.

Player piano are like karaoke that you can sing along with it. That’s why there are lyrics on the roll. There are some piano rolls that don’t have lyrics.

Amazing. I had a distant relative that had a player piano, pump organ, guitars, accordion, banjo. I am glad to see a working player piano. My Fair Lady is in my top ten musicals. I played in the pit orchestra for a performance in school. Fun to try to sing along. Thanks for sharing.
