Camera setting tips for great high school marching band photos

    On the 06 Odyssey the correct amount is around 3.3 quarts. The correct fill plug would be a bad idea because it is about impossible to get to, and it is filthy down there. Use the dipstick. The dipstick tube is very small. I use a Dollar General turkey baster ($2) to access the tube. And a bigger funnel. And take your time, pour very slowly. I purchased a short torque wrench as a long one hits the floor too soon. I torque to 30 ft-lbs. I see below a spec of 36. I'm not sure which is correct, but we are dealing with aluminum (soft metal). You are probably only changing one third of the oil. So do it every oil change until the fluid comes out clean.

    I have a old 2002 Odyssey clunking into 2nd and 3rd gear. I decided to use synthetic Valvoline MaxLife ATF. I'm going to do three or four flushes within one month. As recommended by professionals. Odyssey recalled many Vans and had to replace the transmissions but not all of them got replaced. It's a piece of junk but according to the experts if you change the fluid every 10,000 miles you can increase the miles to 300k. And one guy said that he had Honda Accord and he got 400 k miles changing synthetic oil every 10k

    Beware, you may find like we did that a new vehicle can be worse, or in our case dreadful to drive, compared to the old one. My wife replace her 2010 Odyssey Touring model with a new 2023 Honda Odyssey a year ago. Was impressed with all the safety technology it has standard on all models. However, I hate driving it. It does not drive nearly as well as the old 2010 (which we still have). The new one requires constant steering corrections at freeway speeds, or it will wander in the lane constantly unless you turn on lane guidance, which constantly corrects for this automatically. But that is awful on a long trip. If you don't grip the steering wheel with both hands, it will flash warnings on the dash screen, then disengage after just a few minutes. It also tries to vere off at every off-ramp if you are in the right lane because it thinks the right painted line is the road. Poorly designed and fatiguing to drive. So when I took a 3400-mile road trip last month, I took the old 2010 Odyssey, and it drives effortlessly and fatigue free. I opened a case with Honda, and they examined the vehicle and said that is the way they drive. If this is the way new Honda's drive, buy something else.

    The muzzler has a resistor that lowers the temperature that the ECM is receiving which in turn wont let the VCM system to activate . When the thermostat opens too slowly the temperature finally reaching VCM parameters thus activating cylinder management. This is one of the precautions of using a muzzler or tuner . So beware that the system is tricked into thinking the vehicle hasn't reached operating temperature and won't employ VCM. This could be a problem if it overheats . I would caution whenever getting scheduled maintenance to change that $30 thermostat.

    Just learned about the VCM issue today after seeing a puff of white smoke behind me while driving today (was going 65 slowing to 58). From what I've read, this is classic VCM. My Odyssey is a 2012 with 110,000 miles on it. I happened to have an oil change at Honda scheduled so I asked them about it. They said they'd charge $180 to diagnose, but if it was the VCM that they'd fix it and cover the entire cost (including the $180). A couple of questions: how much damage could already be done? Is it worth it to let Honda diagnose and "fix"? I think that even if they did repair it, I'd still want the muzzle...right?

    • @andrewwang3900
      @andrewwang3900 Před 3 měsíci

      That very nice of them to cover the cost as the class action lawsuit period is over (so Honda does not have to). VCM can cause multiple issues. Let’s say they fix the rings. Damage has already been done to the engine mounts. They may still work today, but maybe a lot of life has been taken away, and may fail sooner. I would still get the Muzzler, to perhaps delay the damage process, from getting worse, on the parts that are still working fine today.

Eliminating the "hunting" between 3 cyl and 6 cyl mode alone was worth it. But in the end it just simplifies its operation. Always using 6 cylinders all the time is just better for it.

    I have a 2011 Honda Pilot. I went to a 5000 mile oil change interval with full synthetic or synthetic blend oil for high mileage engines, and regular use of Redline Fuel treatment using 5 oz per tank about every other tank or so, or I put name brand detergent gasoline in it. The plugs run clean and the piston tops are much cleaner. I put a scope down through the spark plug holes during oil change to inspect. At 122,000 miles the pistons and plugs run cleaner then when I bought it at 66,000 miles. To be honest it didn't use oil, but it did foul the plugs a couple of time before I changed the plugs at 96,000 miles. On the current maintenance routine it has not errored or fouled a plug at all in 25,000 miles.
