I love that guitar! I have the same one, but mine is solid black, now I just have to buy the purple burst too.
Looks sick!
bought this exact guitar a couple weeks ago.I freakin love love and because it deserve one more, love it. Offers way more than the asking price
Do you still own your Robb Flynn Epiphone Guitar?
Do you still own this?
Hi, nice video, I was wondering if it is possible to put 2 humbuckers in it ? How is the body underneath the pickguard ?
Not sure. I never took the guard off. Sorry.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Just had an anwser from ESP and the guitar is perfectly able to receive 2 humbuckers, they just not sale any pickguard
Excellent review Have mine on order. The sound comes through very well. And I have come to realize I don't like Active Pickups. The Clean sounds of the Sunset and Tasteful playing makes it a guitar not to take for for granted. Excellent Review.
Does your Blackstar accept pedals well ?
Just got one to do probably exactly what you’re going to do. It was 359 on Fender. Cant beat it! Especially after watching this now I know I got a good deal!
amazing amp from fender. easy to work with and loud enough for rehearsal.
wow , I randomly flicked through , to height and you answered my question instantly and ive been looking for ages and thought I was going mad as I was doing the height without loosening the main screw aaaaghhhhh , so easy now thanks !!!!!!!!!!
Can I buy this as my first electric guitar?
Absolutely! It would be a fantastic guitar to start on.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear i bought it now, thank you 😊 Hopefully I can become a good player.
How does this sound in drop c# tunning?
I have no idea.
Sounds great awesome playing! You sold me the brand
Hey I have a question about something besides the guitar... I noticed the very comfortable looking chair you are using, has some arms that can be raised.. could you tell me where you got them? (name/model etc) and how much they cost? I'm also about to buy this axe, so thank you very much for the review!
I think I got it from Amazon.... Maybe $180ish?
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear awesome dude thanks!
Can't decide if I like the purple or green better.
First off, Chris, great playing! I got mine today and had similar observations. Strings will be replaced asap. Truss rod was totally slack. Can’t wait to try it at higher gain. I agree too that the bridge sounded muddy. And the fretboard is very dry. But it’s at least as good as an Ibanez Gio. My Donner Thinline is AMAZING. This one is good for the price and will be a decent platform for mods. Love the paint, the headstock, the satin neck, the neck profile…maybe different strings and a set up may help.
I’ve never loved any pick ups on an Ibanez under $600.
😱😱
I picked up the very last Bullfighter D-120 "LP style" from amazon after tax & s/h it came to $150. After playing it for months, I removed the pick guard & found the screw scratched the guitar. I wish they had used a smaller screw or shaved it down. Either way, I did but after the fact. For 150 bux, it looks amazing! I'm looking at mine & your EART & I thunk your EART would look better with a cream switch tip. 3yrs later.
Great demo... Will they do modern high gain stuff too? I wanted a pickup thats still PAF but hotter than the 59 model. thanks
This is not hotter than the 59. it's about the same in output. I like the "JB", "Distortion" or the "Custom Custom" for higher gained stuff. I really want to try the new Brandon Ellis pickup.
Great looking guitar and it sounds amazing. I had a Kiesel before. Not really a big fan but... the woods are high quality and I love the sound of the Lithium pickups. They get a bad rap amongst many guitarists but I don't understand why. They are very articulate, well-balanced, have a nice singing resonating sound, long sustain, they are lively pickups. However there is one famous guitarist who uses Lithium pickups in his Kiesel signature model. I forget his name all the time even though he is relatively famous. He also loves the Lithiums.
I just watched your Jackson Dinky blue guitar video where you talked about the Floyd Rose 1000 series and that you more prefer the Original Floyd Rose with titanium buds. You said that is your favorit trem more than the Ibanez trem. But in this video you say the Ibanez Lo Pro Edge trem is the best. Now I am confused, haha. For me I had the both trems but I liked the Ibanez trem more. I don't know about the other trems of Ibanez. I know that Steve Vai prefers the older trem version which he had on his first signature models. I think it is called the Pro Edge with is slightly higher.
As far as stock tremolo's go, the Ibanez "Edge" and "Lo-Pro Edge", are the best, IMO. However, I actually prefer to have a German floyd rose (or even a Schaller) with upgraded titanium parts. It's insanely stable. But, it's something that you have to upgrade to make it perfect. There's nothing wrong with a 1000 series Floyd or even the special, if you take care of them. But they pale in comparison to the real deal German build with upgrades. The precision and quality is tops! $$$ though... But remember, it's all subjective and these are just my personal opinions that I've formed over the last 36 years of playing. Your's may be different.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear okay. You play well. Have you been a famous guitar player before?
Nope. Just a regular guy who plays a little bit and likes to help the guitar community with gear information. Cheers!
Now I know there are two different people. There is Chris Tompkins and there is Steve from Boston. I thought you were the same. The next recommended video is from Steve from Boston channel reviewing the same guitar.
LOL!! What???
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear haha, yeah I know. I just found out today.
Great playing. About the Evertune I haven't tried it. When I hear others play the Evertune it gives me mixed feelings. On the one hand it keeps the guitar in tune which is great. On the other it makes the guitar sound a bit sterile.. because it stays so perfectly in tune all the time. There seems to be little room left for personal touch. The bridge corrects itself. This makes guitar players who use Evertune sound more or less the same. What are your thoughts on this? How does it compare to fixed bridges and tremstyle guitars?
When setup in zone 2, it plays exactly like a normal hardtail equipped guitar. I don't play any different, on an evertune equipped guitar. I think it's a genius piece of equipment! It could be that you are only hearing people playing the same styles of music on an evertune. These do seem to have been adopted largely by the metal community. It's the BEST thing to have in a studio environment and also quite nice to bring to shows. It's going to be in tune and stay that way throughout a performance. Bends, vibratto, the "feel" are all still there.
Plus you get 22 frets. Squire only gives you 21 because they are the cheapskates.
7:26 I just love every time you play this piece, I really need to learn it!
That is a beautiful thing! I can’t find one anywhere in Australia :( that headstock is like a cross between a Tele and a Parker Fly 😂
I had to order mine from the manufacturer and have it shipped here. The shipping was not cheap. But, it was worth it. Fantastic guitar. I still have it!! That in and of itself is a testament to its quality. I rarely keep anything for long...
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear thanks for the info. I love quirky guitars, I’m going to buy one :)
@@officialWWM Cool!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Peace!!
Hi does the pincha harmonice jump out the the active PU?
Yep.
Somehow no one noticed?? How you gonna change string or strings after you put back cover plate???? You've too remove back cover plate every time you change string or strings. How come videos creator NEVER mentioned that?? That's only Vegas trem disadvantage.😲😜🤪😖
Lol! The strings go into the back, just like the Fender bridge that was in there! It's the same method.😅
Nice to see a pre-Katrina CS guitar that isn't a ridiculously reliced white over fiesta red over paisley or some such.
Thank you!!
Oh snap!!!!! My boi hitting us with the GALLOPS?!????? He got dem GALLOPS?!??? Yo, bruh. Either your favorite bass player is the one from Iron Maiden or the one that's Steve Vai's best friend! Lol! Either way, you're going ham, king. And I know who _your_ bass inspiration is! Keep up the good work fam! Love from a church bassist/drummer. Not too well seasoned (I'm coming along, but I'm no Justin Raines), but I'm a work in progress. 😅 I do have a question. Tell me about the comfort you have when slapping and popping. You strike me as a big guy (no disrespect, because I am also big), so I wanna know how comfortable the bass felt to you. When i tried a similar bass at Guitar Center, it was a bit of a challenge for me to slap and pop. The string spacing did NOT help (it wasn't impossible, but a touch inconvenient). And that middle pickup is both a gift and a curse, since it'll block your fingers like Lebron James. Again, not impossible to work with, but a touch inconvenient. How's it feel to you? Also, thanks for the awesome review! Keep up the good work!
Hi Chris, Is the string spacing a tad bit wider on this ? Does it feel wider to you ? Thx. Tucson, AZ.
I don't think so... Feels "normal" to me.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Thank you Chris !
I got mine last mond ago then i dont know how to use the effext loop
BOOBIE MOUSEPAD
I have the HSS Texas tea. The Humbucker is silent. No screeching. But the bridge and middle do with gain. I don’t plan to play these with high gain so I’ll learn to live with it. I can play quite loud before it starts doing it. Pressing on the covers alters the sound of the screech. Pretty annoying though.
So my dog magically antiqued my Champion 100. I cannot take responsibility for the wear, it was all Stella's teeth 😢
Great review, driven sounds epic,
Looks great BUT I don't like the big gap at the back of the trem
Sounded quite good in a couple of positions, it very usable in certain applications I think, but it's not able to breathe to my liking personally, it sounds like it's been internally chambered too much and in my ears it's having to rely on the pickups and volume and tone knobs to be fiddled with too much to let it get out the cage, I was considering getting the model you've demoed here in the exact same colour but I don't trust it to be stable enough, I'd kill for an Indo built if I could get one with the BT2S pickups only on board...it's behaving in your demo like an Indo assembled and I reckon it is regardless of the stamp saying otherwise, maybe China put the electronics into it perhaps? ...In my honest opinion the greatest Gretsch ever built is the Indo Streamliner Jr, particularly for harder driven stuff, it's a very nasty little beast indeed!!!..it's also smart enough not to have the Bigsby on it...it's a V tail too.
This trem work very well & amazing
I have that strap! Looks sick and is comfortable but sheesh it will not stay at the length I adjust it to.
They’re nice but damn, they are expensive! That’s also a very cool looking guitar. The bridge pickup in my Tele died so I decided that was a good excuse to treat myself to a set of these and wow, I’m glad I did! The neck pickup alone is worth the price in my opinion. The word “articulate” comes to mind, you hear every single note in this clear, beautiful way. That piece you played at 5:14 shows that, it was beautiful!
Played a PRS DW and LOVED these pups... but i loved the ESP guitar more hahahaa so now I think im gonna order these. Sweet playing bro
Finaly someone plays clean with chords highlighting evertune intonation.
I wish I could buy that guitar.
Men if that intro of fade to black would've been continued...
I really enjoyed your playing. Perfect for the telecaster sound
Insane guitar! It is your favourite one? I just buy from japan RG 8420 black onyx with titanium neck.
I just did a review of the Firefly X series, That would be sick if it had the floyd on it. These body styles are pretty damn nice. Awesome Video 😎🤙
