Are you one of those guys that have to be right all the time? What do you mean the correct way? All over the world, people from different vicinities pronounce and have accent a little different than their neighboring areas. If you don’t want to be labeled from the particular place or if you’re livelihood, depends on appealing to all people across a broader area you may choose to ditch this. Other than that, practically speaking, I think the right way is however it’s said where you grew up.

Regional accents within th US are all the right way. Trying to "correct" someones pronunciation is just rude. Especially in front of people. Sad to see the hesitation in her eyes. She is a trooper for going along with this.

I’m from Arizona a lot of people out here like unsweetened tea I went to Indiana one time and sat down and asked for some unsweetened tea they looked at me disgusted and said we don’t have that here😂

She’s so real for this. I sounds suck, I can’t make the oi sound correctly, and my older (almost 18 y.o.) daughter is downright evil about it sometimes 😂 Idk if it’s the southern accent too, but I also have issues with repeating r sounds (mirror, rural, etc).

The whole "proper/improper" pronunciation is a false dichotomy. All languages have regional variations, and for there to be one "right" way to say something is a very subjective thing. It's more like there are different versions/dialects, some more common than others. In many countries one or two versions are chosen as the "official use" but that does not make the others improper
