Better to remove the veneer and sand down the wood and Stein it with a nice color wood stain. The end results will amaze you! I did this to two speakers, removing the veneer and stained the wood and they looked really, really great, even if zi should say so myself, looked really professional looking and a real big improvement to.

It is a pretty simple project. Measure each piece and saw to size. Use a good quality plywood (Baltic Birch) and glue up with carpenter's glue. Stay away from particle board, that's the crap they originally used and degrades easily. Glue on the veneer, you can find it online.

@@kikoilem What you do is come from the backside with the knife and go through the hole from the other side, making a small cut. Then go back around to the front and "feel" your way with the knife till you cut to the edge of the hole. Finally, cut small arcs around the hole circumference till you remove the area filling the hole.

Good Job!, thank you for this video. I have a question, when you bought this veneer on E-bay was it already pre-cut? The top piece of Veneer that you applied had hole cut-out for the Grill, and I am wondering how that was cut out so perfectly. Did you trace the hole somehow, as you never removed the grill. What did you use to cut the hole?
