My mother in law left hers with us and I didn't even know what it was. It's in a non draining deco pot in common soil, left a few feet away from a north facing window. It was so leggy I had no idea what kind of plant I was taking on. Now that I know what it is, I know how sad it is, but I'm excited to get it back to how it should be! I already moved it into better sunlight and it's got new leaf structures growing more like how I see in other kalanchoe plants. I'm going to try to prune the leggy vines and see how it feels and if it will redirect energy into growing and blooming again. 😊

Many people don't know how to properly enjoy aji peppers. They often make the mistake of taking half a teaspoon of hot pepper sauce, only to be overwhelmed by the intense heat. In a panic, they reach for water or bread to cool the burning sensation in their mouth, vowing never to try spicy food again. The right approach is to start with a tiny amount, as small as a grain of rice, and gradually increase the quantity until you find the perfect balance between the delicious flavor and the heat.

No just get the soil damp and seal it off. It should stay damp but not wet. Only if for some reason it gets dried out then I’d mist it with water and reseal.

At 100 degrees, plants can't absorb enough water from roots to account for transpiration from the leaves. Once drought damages the vasculature of the plant, it fails to thrive and/or slowly dies. Shade cloth can help. Here in the PNW which is much cooler, I built a shade-house structure for the brassicas and they did great. I also put shade cloth over zuchini and on really hot days (88 degrees here) I shaded the tomatoes! The entire planet is in trouble as far as food production goes. Temps around the globe are rising at a fantasic rate. In Antartica's winter, it's been 50 degrees above normal (normal is -70F now it's -20F) what will the summer bring? We rapidly need to share strategies for growing! Gardeners, be Undaunted !

We’re in a severe drought in WV. Unlike most places, on the mountains we basically have no topsoil so it dries out even faster than the valley. Last year I only watered 3 times because it rained so much. Hopefully this is just a bad year and returns to normal soon. Definitely going to mulch better next year just in case

@@DaveTheHillsideGardener I live in the rain shadow of the mountains. Last year, we got 11 inches of rain! Even though my land is fairly flat, I put in berms and swales and then partially filled the swales with organic material (hay & woodchips) and covered the berms with woodchips and nitrogen fixing ground cover seed. I was surprised how well the system held water. Well planned, berms and swales can also mitigate floods. See Geoff Lawton's 'Berms and Swales' here on CZcams.
