Sunday July 9th 2023. I've only been to this track a couple of times but it's definitely amongst my favorite tracks in Michigan. Conditions were wet and soft to start, so the track went south quick! It was like a mini Baja Acres. So brutal but so much fun.

First Time On A YZ250F- Battling With 450's @ Twisted MX

First time at twisted for us this year. This bike's suspension is setup WAY too soft for me. I didn't even adjust the sag, just hopped right on it. The power on these 250s is unreal though. You can almost lug them around like a 450 which I love. I feel like it'd be a great bike for me with a couple power mods to help the low end even more.

Got a few of the homies together at Morelands MX this weekend. First group ride of the season for us. It's an SX style track with sandy dirt. Super fun place to ride. I highly recommend you check them out. Shoutout to the owner Grant Moreland, he does an amazing job operating this place.

Good Day! Had a lot of fun there that day. Deff going back! I want to hit Valley practice day too. When you passed in that 3 moto I hung with you for about 3 turns and then you just started walking me. LOL I gotta get my turn game down better. That and committing to the bigger jumps.
That was definitely a good ride for all of us. Corners are my biggest struggle too, so I don’t have much advice besides all the basic technique stuff lol. Big jumps seem to just come naturally with more experience though and as you gain more confidence!
We need to hit up Valley this season for sure.

Whoever ported that head didn't have a flow bench. Or even a piece of sandpaper to smooth that out. Besides behind the valve doesn't look right, no neck. Now well best of luck hopefully you don't run into any of my motors at the drag strip ...

how much horsepower that beast make?
I’m estimating 63. The stock 450sr makes 60.5hp. So with this thing having slightly higher compression, an aggressive port and epoxy job, 5 angle valves and a vortex ecu, it’s gotta have at least a couple extra horses lol

Why u4.4 over t4? Jw I honestly don't know
In my experience I’ve had better luck with u4.4 than t4. T4 is a much cleaner fuel though and better for the average racer.
@John Holka MX I have a 21 ktm450 factory edition. I use t4,love the smell lol. But never knew which is better

I know money is irrelevant to racers but that bike is too nice to be thrown around the track like a rental😢 the bike would be perfect without that exhaust tip damage
Haha the carbon tip got slightly damaged and a new one was like $150, so I just epoxied it. 😅

No kart engine, just a regular kx450 motor built into a 63 horsepower fire breather.🤘🏻

It ruins anything rubber though. All oxygenated fuel is rough on rubber.
@@keithpeterson6108hmm that’s interesting. Been running O2 fuel for years, but I’ll keep an eye on intake boots, etc. I imagine it’d be horrible for 2 strokes then, since raw fuel actually contacts the crank seals.🤔
@John Holka MX Yeah, it's rough on float needles, all the o-rings in the carbs & fuel pumps. It's mostly anywhere the fuel is held more so than where it contacts. All the gnarly stuff evaporates off the intake tract & inside the engine. So it's not as rough on bigger items like intake boots & crank seals. I used to run it & a few other "flavors" from VP but don't anymore. I ended up having to replace all the rubber in my 2stroke carbs (buddies as well). It was such a hassle to drain it out after every ride vs the little extra jam it gave. In my efi bikes, I didn't want to deal with pulling the tank & purging the system, so I never ran it in those. Put some in a red solo cup sometime, it eats the cup! Lol

I could tell the suspension setup was an issue on the 450. Getting that corrected would account for a few seconds a lap easily.
It’s definitely more fun on a 250 being able to just go ride and have fun. The mood gets all serious when you get on a 450 lol

Right! Especially on decel it has that nice throaty high compression sound. Still undecided on if I’ll get a new 250 or 450 next lol
